  1. Interesting article about the mechanism of PCOS onset and a possible trial for reversing it. https://www.newscientist.com/article/2168705-cause-of-polycystic-ovary-syndrome-discovered-at-last/?fbclid=IwAR3GeQAxHJw7ez7aC5Bw5h_sk7VFloX0jaZt-cc40CsT3SHjx0Z46HQyqV8#.XP6sy4b_OKw.facebook
  2. You know MO is a disease as defined by the AMA. Right? ((hugs))
  3. If you go to your profile and fill it out, then we can better help answer your questions from the correct perspective. The assumption would be you are new and haven't had surgery yet, or you are just out of surgery and still MO.
  4. Podcast Lyle Mcdonald Woman and Fat Loss Part 2
  5. Here's another podcast with him about Female Fat Loss Part 1
  6. No. I'm so sorry. It's pretty deep dive body builder brainiac stuff. But he talks about the physiology as well as the psychology too. It's so helpful. I'm gonna go look for more YouTubes from him and see about his book.
  7. Wow. You are so lucky. At 16months that is not my experience.
  8. This interview with Lyle McDonald about how women can lose more fat!! It's totally eye opening!
  9. Wow sounds gorgeous and looks fabulous!!
  10. CICO is a myth. You DO need a caloric deficit but it's very complex. It's all based on hormonal (several) feedback loops.
  11. I'm full bypass rather than mini. But I share your fear and that is why I'm so focused on learning NEW relationships and developing NEW behaviors with food. I actively SEEK and WANT to "eat really healthy" as often, and as much as I can--understanding that life happens, and recidivism is a real deal--especially for someone who made it to a lifetime invite to the Obesity Ball. I got my operation and have a new tummy/gut tool. But my fat brain, is still my big fat brain. And I'm using my honeymoon period to recondition it--or maybe to condition it for the very first time in my life but using good sturdy principles taught by my surgical team and RD. I depend on their rules, cuz they know from experience what works. I'm training my dragon (fat brain). So your question really raises a red flag with me. The concept that "small portions" will see you through to life-long weigh maintenance at your goal weight is just that--a myth. Dr. Weiner addresses this in some of his latest YouTube videos. He says you simply can NOT pretend to believe that myth--it will let you down every time.
  12. Thanks for sharing!!! Love me some Dr. B!!!
  13. Being in better health, be in better physical shape (more conditioned), being in less pain, sleeping better, either being the same weight or less that I am today, less % fat, and at 2 years, 3-5years, and beyond 5+ years to infinity and beyond!!!!!
  14. Second the rec for an airfryer. LOVE ours!
  15. Boiled okra, here I come! hehe...and lima beans...and succotash.
  16. Dear Lord...hold me. This (every pic) is a thing of beauty and bounty!!! Can you send me a Fedex package stat?
  17. MUAH!!!! You are doing so well!!!
  18. Hmmm. I thought you said you were eating big girl portions now? These still look like toddler size servings? Not that there's anything wrong with that!!! Did it fill you up?
  19. Can NOT wait for this!!! TY for sharing!
  20. BTW, I had support group yesterday with my RD and she said that she uses a slightly different calculation for bariatric patients to ensure we get proper protein nutrition. She said the absolute minimum for us should be 0.8g/kg based on our ideal weight expressed in kilograms. But she said that we should probably target 1.1g/kg of ideal weight to be on the "safe" side. That protein source should come from complete proteins as well as a WIDE variety of plant proteins from a varied diet. So animal/fish/seafood/eggs/dairy/nuts/seeds/beans/pulses/plants=All.The.Food. LOL. She said that the new research shows that even though plants don't have complete proteins, that our bodies are pretty resourceful about breaking down any amino acid and using other amino acids through the day to complete our protein needs. And she said we should fluctuate in our protein intake---not just eat at the bottom of the range. Some days, we need to really target eating at the top of our protein range in a varied, organic, natural progression dictated by hunger. So doing your protein again it would look more like this range: So on the bottom end you would need a minimum of 47.2g protein per day. But target 59kg X 1.1g/kg = 65g protein And you can go as high as 59kg X 1.4g/kg = 82.6g protein per day. So yah. Your range is anything from 47g - 83g protein per day with an ideal target of 65g.
  21. We're all learning together and are traveling down a similar road!! ((hugs))
  22. Oh this should be riveting. I can always count on your to bring the meat. Good times!
