In my family I've only told my husband and one of my kids. I've told about 4 friends and that's it. I didn't tell my inlaws because my father in law doesn't respect boundaries. When my hubby had RNY 11 years ago he told his parents and brothers and no one else. They all broke that confidence and the entire extended family and some friends know. My husband feels like he gets odd looks and judgements like he took the easy way out. This is mist definitely not the easy way out!

I am also a fan of MFP. The tracking gets easier over time because you will have a list of your most frequent meals. I spend less than 5 minutes per day using the MFP app because everything is already there.

Missy161 got a reaction from Gabbee in Working Out and Calorie Intake
I am 5. 1/2 weeks out. Joined the ymca a couple of weeks ago. I met with a personal trainer and told her I had surgery, limited to 10 lbs lifting until next week. I told her I wanted to strengthen my core so that I don't end up with too much awful loose skin and to strengthen my upper arms. She gave me this routine: treadmill starting at 30 min. Wall push ups 2 sets of 15, laying on an exercise ball core flexed and hips up lifting 2 5 lb weights from my chest up (2 sets of 15) standing with feet hip distance apart core tight but up and lifting 2 5 lb weights up from the floor - 2 sets of 15. And planking I started at 30 seconds working up to a minute.
So far it's going good. I feel like I've had a workout but am not wiped out. I'll add new exercises as I recover.
She said that would help the core muscles be strong and I'd probably need to have my apron removed at some point but the muscles underneath would be strong.
I'm trying to keep my Protein up but I am having a hard time with it. I know recovery and workouts will go better if I can get more protein in!

Missy161 reacted to Redo2017 in Not Freaking Out Over Stalls
I had VSG July 10th and had a one week stall (actually a small gain of 0.8) this past week. I finally broke the stall yesterday and dropped 3.9 over the past two days! I'm totally thrilled. There is so much excellent advice from experienced sleevers on this site about staying off the scale and expecting stalls, especially in the early weeks. All that good advice really helped me to keep a calm head during my dreaded 3 weeks stall. So, I want to pay it forward and reassure the newly sleeved that stalls are normal and nothing to freak out about! So many of us are emotional eaters and worrying about a stall can really lead to getting off track. Don't let the stall derail you! Stick to your program and you will drop the weight eventually!

For the record, this is NOT Dumping Syndrome. This is just the shits. XD Dumping syndrome is just intense pain in the intestines~
I'm also not sure this has anything to do with sugar. You might be lactose intolerant? A lot of people have problems post surgery with milk, especially if you were sensitive before surgery. Or it could have to do with oils in what you're eating; fatty oils might make things slide through you a bit more uhhh....lubricated.....

I get the whole dumping syndrome too. So I just don't have sugar at all. Or just a very low tiny amount. But I just get an upset stomach and sweats and stuff like that. I was sleeved 10/21/16. I hope this helps you somewhat. But don't just look for sugar. look for other sugar too. Sugar alcohols, sacrulose (spelling could be wrong), high fructose corn Syrup, and so on

I agree with all said here. I think it might help to have a counselor - you are going through dramatic changes and having someone who is objective might really help give you insight. A counselor could also give you some great suggestions on how to work through those feelings.

Your insides are still swollen & anesthesia usually keep everything in (your stool & urine), on top of medication & fluids from the hospital. Don't get discouraged, & give yourself about a month when swelling goes down & your getting back to normal.

Thank you girls. Got sleeved. Everything went well but I underestimated the diaphragm pain for the gas post surgery. I was in so much pain and even cried. The worst of it lasted a couple of hours. Today I am much better. Nauseated but they are giving me meds.

I had a sf kona ice early out too and it made me so sick! So do sf slurpees. St popsicles are fine- I think the flavorings must me too concentrated or something like that.
I got some sf butterscotch candies that I am realizing give me the sweats and hot flash- I'm wondering if they are really sf or if maybe they have a high sugar alcohol. This is a trial and error area for sure!
I ate something on Saturday that made me so nauseous and gassy for hours and can't figure it out- I only ate yogurt, yoplait 100. I'm wondering if it uses the same artificial sweetener!

Mine also said it is your starting weight that is submitted. I was told they just want to see if you will be successful following the plan. Most of us have lost and regained weight pre surgery. I think they know that's the pattern and for some sustained weight loss will only come with surgery.
