:thumbup::tounge_smile:hello everyone my surgery went very well,i arrive at the hospital at 4:30. had to be there at 6:30, me an my daughter, went to pre-admitting office got call back in the room got my iv put in, waited another30 minutes. took off everything.talk to the anathesiologist. he was explaining about the tube that goes down your throat. he says if it doesn,t go all the way down he might have to wake me up a little, to get it down,(yea right). i walk in the operating room looking at them making up the bed i had to lay on, i almost ran out of the room. i got on the bed they strap these massage pads on both legs that vibrates fell so good to keep your blood circulating.he put the oxygen mask on my face all the while making jokes,saying take deep breath, get all that good oxygen. i am thinking these people are not going to put me to sleep.next thing i knew i was waking up in recovery, moaning she ask did i need pain medication i moan yes,they call my daughter back for a few minutes to see me.hour later they took me to my room. i wasn,t in pain just a lot of discomfort, no chest pain.no port pain, i stayed overnight so did my daughter. i don,t know what it is about hospitals it not like home, could not wait to get home.i had round the clock care it felt so good to be taken care of.my dr had like 20 people on the staff all night that was in an iut of my room,7:00 that morning had to go for the dreded barium swallow, it,s just real bitter had to take three big gulp of that brown liquid, turn from side to side, then came the sweet thick syrup. same thing over again then 15 minutes later i was back in my room then the doctor camr by an told me the surgery went so smooth that i can go home what nice words we call a cab an an hour later we were home i went to bed the doctor said to start my ensure the following day my stomach is growling but i am not hungery my throat was sore for that day today isday four an i feel great took off my bandages yesterday with no problem layed in the bed most of yesterday i can climb the stairs ok if you have any questions leave me a message good luck everyone on your journey also:lol::thumbup:Sil..

THIS IS A LAST MINUTE APROVAL THIS MORNING AN MY SURGERY IS TOMORROW HOW CLOSE IS THAT.I CANNOT BELEAVE MY FRIEND IS GONE. just a update on my friend we went to the hospital yesterday, she is still unresponsil she is breathing on a machine, the priest came in the whole family was there in the room, she is just laying there like she is asleep, when i went in the tears came, i uncontrolable,one minuet she was talking to me on the phone the next she was in the hospital, they operated on her the doctor said she had a huge blockage in the back of her head, her bloodpressure skyrocked, she didn,t believe in going to the doctor, her birthday was new years eve, she is in her fifties. so sad an young. but that is my girl,i miss her already.so i came home an cried some more.we took her a flower an an angel we got out of the gift shop.i haven,t had a best friend since high school. until i met her i moved into her neighborhood, an somhow we click.because i always keep to myself she would always come over an viceversa.so please help me pray for her,, i love her dearly.godbless her soul.her name is mollie pergues.love you all thanks for listening. sil

:thumbup::tt2:wow i can,t believe it will be three days before my surgery i am nervous, it,s been 10months, that,s a long time.my best friend had a stroke she live right across the street from me. shocking, i love her an praying she will be allright, she has a daughter that,s stays with her,i am going to the hospital tomorrow to see her i pray she makes a full recovery.we talk on the phone at least twice a day.i just hope she come out fighting.had to tell someone you guys are the greastest.glad i join this site.:thumbup::tounge_smile:

:thumbup:Today was my appointment with dr. had to be there at 11:00. went over everything he gave me a prescription for my pain meds.then had to go to hospital for pre-admitting testing has to do an ekg,an the nurse took about 6 vails of blood they also ask me all kinds of questions, then i met the anathesiologist hope i spell that correct, he told me what will happen,he gave me pecid tablest one for the night before surgery an the one the day of surgery.in all i was there from 11:00 until 3:30.what a day the nurse also said she will call me friday with a time that i am suppose to show up at the hospital.my surgery date is next tuesday the 13th. one week away. well i have to go an pack to get stuff organize. will keep everyone posted.sil:thumbup::confused:

:confused:this morning was my app for the info session, thats when the doc get a group of people together. to discuss the surgery an to answer any queastions that you may have, now he says the office will submit them today they will recieve them on monday then it,s takes about 2 weeks to make a decision.they also took a photo an did a weigh in so as of today i weigh 282.8 pounds my goodness in total i have lost 40 pounds. when i started the process back in april it was 324 pounds. i am trying to keep it off the doc says no pre-op diet unless necessary.so maybe around january that,s what his nurse told us because of the holidays, doctor kurt roberts of yale newhaven in ct very nice doctor took time to answer all the questions everyone had the session was 3 hours long.had to be there at 8:00 to fill out other documents so all went well, happy thanksgiving everyboby.gobble, gobble:thumbup::thumbup:

on oct,15 i did my pulmonary test, it took a week for the results to come back so i bugg the office they didn,t know anything so i decided to call the pulmonary office to tell them where to fax my results, they did, an i call my surgeon office yesterday an ask for a date,she ask me have i seen the doctor yet i say no, so she,s going to send my case into review the same day. so i hope i will get a surgery date i have started the process on april now it,s nov. so hopefully they will call soon.:smile:i have been on this board since march/08 an have read positive things but the waiting is something else.wishing everyone luck on your new journey in life sil:thumbs_up::mad2:

TODAY I WENT FOR MY PULMONARY TEST, IT HAD THREE TO FOUR PARTS FIRST I HAD TO BLOW INTO A TUBE, DEEP LONG BREATHS YOU HAVE TO CONTINUE TO BLOW UNTIL NOTHING LEFT, THEN AGAIN I WAS PUT INTO A BOOTH SHE TURN ON OXYGEN I HAD NOSE CLIPS PUT ON MY NOSTRILS I HAD TO PUT BOTH HANDS ON MY CHEEKS AN THEN PANT FASTER AN FASTER. I NEVER HAD ONE DONE BEFORE WHAT AN EXPERIENCE, THE LAST PART I HAD TO BLOW FAST IN AN OUT AS FAST AS I COULD, SHE SAID I DID GOOD.I HAD TO STICK A TUBE IN MY MOUTH AN BLOW. MY APPOINTMENT WAS AT 9:00 THIS MORNING,SHE,S GONNA HAVE THE DOCTOR READ THEM AN FAX THEM OVER TO DOCTOR BELLS OFFICE, THEN HOPEFULLY I WILL BE ON MY WAY, CAN ANY ONE TELL ME WHAT DOES A INFORMATIVE SESSION CONSISTS OF, IS IT ONE ON ONE SESSION WITH THE DOCTOR, CAN,T WAIT TO BE BANNED, IT,S GOING ON SEVEN MONTHS NOW.GOOD LUCK EVERYONE ON YOUR JOURNEY IN LIFE. wow, i know you are very excited an anxious, good luck to you, i have one more test to go that,s a pulmonary one for my lungs, that,s this wednesday, then i will come in for a imformitave session with the doc, so i,m rooting foe oct.make sure you keep us posted.on your new journey.

I had a appointment with my pcp on sept 11, for a chest xray, also a ekg, on sept 19, i went for a stress test, where they give you a shot in your iv, to slow your heartrate then you get on a traedmill. an walk, let me tell you i have never in my life been on a treadmill,it was like watching a newborn baby walk,what a shame,i do exercise but it,s on a stationary bike, let me tell you i was pitiful then they speed it up, but she said i did good.i hit the mark. you has to go a certain speedi guest how funny, then the 2 part i had to get a shot in myhand for a vien i had to lay down for about fifteen to twenty min,so the machine could take pictures of my heart to see if i have any blockage, with my arteries, i seen the pictures how awesome was that an they were close up. what an experience i had, i was laughing at myself an the treadmill. if only you could have seen me, so on oct 15 i go back for a pulminary test i think that,s when you blow in a tube, an then the nurse says she will bring me in for a session how nice is that, well the only thing is if i would have known to have my doctor do all doses tests sooner i would have been done stupid me i,m sitting here waiting for the surgeon office to call me to see what was needed when i could have had everything done already, oh well can,t cry over spilt milk maybe i needed to wait who knows. it was for a reason.lesson learned.:thumbup::tt2:hoping to be a smashing pumpkin, if not i will let you know.

:thumbs_up:today i went to my evaluation today oct,2 an pass with flying colors did not have to answer a whole lot of questions, only the one,s he sent in the mail. maybe 20 questions,that he had all arrange in similar order, an paid him $150.00 an was on my way, back to waterbury, i went to newhaven for the evaluation. me an my daughter.monday i have to take another part of my stress test with my pcp, so i hope everything goes okay. wish me luck, good luck to everyone on your new journey in life. sil:thumbup:

:crying::cursing:today sept,25th yale university call some lady told me over the phone about my surgery she tried to push the bypass on me, i almost cried. this person gonna tell me about my insurance blue care family plan, she said you gonna have the bypass because it,s gonnacure your diabetes, i said no i want the lapband, then i told her they switch my insurance, then she said that,s a different story i told her they cover both insurance also which i already knew, she gonna tell me i have to have a certain bmi,which was 59, now its 50, so i call the insurance company they say if it,s medical necesary an have my doctor write a letter, an i,m good to go. she had me so friggin upset, to say i don,t qualify i call the office back an said someone call me saying i don,t qualify for lapband, the nice lady said it,s your choice. that made me feel a whole lot better. an said i will have the surgery sometimes in oct, so that,s sound so good.i just had to vent. can,t believe she tried to push the bypass on me, like i was stupid.my heart really droped for a minute.thanks for listening. sil.:thumbup:

hello everyone,need some advice.if i had known to schedule my own evaluation i would have done it sooner, but my dilema is do i pay $150.00 for it because my appt. is next thursday,of do i wait for nov 14th, an pay nothing. i am tired of waiting.i thought i was having the surgery sometime in sept. i,ve finish everything but my evaluation. i can,t get an appt until nov, i don,t wanna wait that dam long i am gonna opt for the $150.00 an he said one day an i,m finish he will fax them over the same day. the hell if i,m gonna wait for nov, to see a pschologist. that,s 2 months from now done the six months dietian classes an everything. i started in marck of 08, i know i,m ready. just wanted to vent, i just want this so bad i,ve lost 27lbs maybe more. sept 3rd was my last dietian appt. so i,m trying to keep the weight off so far i haven,t gain anything i exercise twice a day for thirty minutes on my stationary bike.wish me luck. goodluck to everyone on your life journey.:angry:

:rolleyes:here it is sept 16. the nutrionist fax my records over to the doctor,s office. they were their a week from friday so i decided to give the office a call they were indeed there, i,m thinking the office suppose to call me for a appt. wrong she said i have everything except your evaluation i was shock if i had known you suppose to make your own appt. it would have been done earlier. so i ask who she recomend she gave me a name. but he,s in newhaven an dosen,t take medicare he charges $150.00 the one in my town charges$90.00 they are schedule for the 9/25/the other is for 9/24/08. i will stick to the one in my town wtby.so please don,t wait for the office to call you, you call them. i only waited untilfour days. then someone posted for me to call the office a i did.it,s next week so i hope everything goes allright. i don,t know if i,m going to be banded in sept. maybe oct at the most:thumbup:. so keeping my finger cross. good luck to everyone on our journey.:thumbup:
