I can't believe I made it into the 100's , Goodbye 200's. Started the process in June 2016, was 290 lbs, diabetic, sleep apnea, GERD, high blood pressure, back and knee problems. Surgery 4/4/17 weighed 250 lbs, I had been going to the nutritionist and learning to eat right, gave up regular coffee and switched to decaffeinated, still drink decaffeinated, I finally get to shop in the regular section, no more plus size, I am so happy, feel so much better, no longer on meds for diabetes, GERD, no sleep apnea, and blood pressure meds cut in half then again hoping to stop at 6 month checkup. I had multiple stresses through the program, my apartment but my down and I lost everything, I got custody of my 15year old daughter. Became an American citizen, my brother passed away, Today I weigh 193 lbs. My goal is 175

As mentioned above this is an epic journey like the Odessey. I recommend that you don't get ahead. Don't eat or drink things you're not supposed to. You will be tempted. Also, invest in baby plates, cups, spoons. It is soo helpful. Don't get into the habit of weighing yourself, you will gain and lose by doing nothing and something. Buy some weights, if you're not up to walking sometimes at least you can strengthen your body. Most of all, be proud of yourself, it takes courage to go on this journey. Every day I have learned something new. Message me if you have a question.

Oh my. Who in the hell are these people? I have never considered my personal little world a perfect bubble of acceptance and understanding, but damn, no one would ever say such things (at least to my face or with a risk of it getting back to me).
And, for the record, if something like that did get said, I'd tell them to blow me because I've lost 205 pounds and probably look better than they do now.

The funny this is about people that hate let me break it down. First off I gained weight after I left the Navy due to being single father, stress etc, doesn't matter... I always knew how to eat healthy, workout etc...just because you aren't doing something right don't come at me... I was 381 April 1st got down to 369 the day of my surgery on April 12th and now I'm 280.... I'm happy I can walk 5 miles a day and drink Water, Protein etc and I love sweet tea I eat I just know not to eat wrong....

I ate oatmeal a few times while on puree, my doc got mad when they heard. She said No Carbs because they are pushed into the intestines which can't digest them properly. So I haven't eaten oatmeal since.

StormJumper got a reaction from Berry78 in Losing Weight too fast?
This is very helpful information. Thank you guys, I think I'll cut back on somethings. I am going to set some timers, I think this might help encourage me to eat. I have no hunger at all and it makes it really hard to eat anything because I just don't want to. I bought bottles with the ounces listed on the side so I am going to use this to track my Water. On my discharge notes I noticed today it said to eat 5-7 small 1/2 cup meals a day. I have definitely not being doing this and I think as another poster mentioned I might be suffering from malnutrition and dehydration. I have been experiencing extreme thirst and extreme exhaustion and some lightheartedness when standing. It has been so difficult, I just do not want to eat... Its a weird feeling. I will try harder and keep you guys posted. I will reduce my walking to just a mile a day for now until I can get accustomed to this "diet". Thank you again for all the helping.

Hi guys, I had surgery 5/17/17 and am about a week and a half out. I don't visit the doctor until Tuesday. I am wondering if you can lose weight too fast. I am trying to not weigh myself like a fanatic but I was 305lbs on surgery day, today I stepped on the scale and am 283lbs... is this too fast??? I'm scared that it's dangerous. I am having a hard time eating my Protein Shakes and making sure I am drinking enough Water but I've been walking about 2 miles everyday. Not a fast pace but there is a steep hill at the end that gets me breathing hard... honestly I have about 1/2 of my 8 oz. Protein Shake and maybe some SF Jello and egg drop Soup. Any tips for me or something I'm doing wrong?

Hello, I am 28 and had my surgery 5/17/2017. I am glad I decided to do this at 305lbs. I do not have a lot of health issues currently but felt that I did this mostly as a preventative. The only thing that is hard is that I did not save up enough to cover the expenses from surgery and the time I am taking off of my full time job. I also decided to take the summer off from going to university to heal which has put me behind for graduation. However, I know of all of these sacrifices are going to be worth it. I will sleep better, I will be healthier and I will feel proud to be my sons mother and my husband's wife. I am doing this a little for cosmetic and mostly for my health in the future so I don't have to struggle with all of the problems I see weight alone can cause let alone the genetics that run in my family it could have been a nightmare to wait just 10 more years.

StormJumper reacted to BT816 in Who are you telling (pre-op)?
Besides my wife, I've only told my boss so far - at the beginning of the process I felt it best to give him a heads up as to why I would be running out of the office for appointments frequently and needing to take recovery time off. I just wrapped up my pre-op visits and have submitted to insurance, so I plan on telling my immediate family once I am approved and scheduled. I'll tackle any other discussions with co-workers & friends after the fact; hopefully a while down the road I'll just have to explain to them why I look so damn good.

Hmm, I always thought I was a food addict. A few of the things you said, I think that's not me. When the psychologist at my evaluation suggested I get back on my anti-depressants I did it right away. When she also suggested that I see a therapist regularly I scheduled as soon as she gave me her recommendations and still go twice a week. So now I am thinking I am more a long the lines of an emotional eater.

Me either, I think it's going to be hard, but knowing if I don't do this they could postpone surgery after I've been waiting so long really helps motivate me.
