  1. I haven't started a work out routine, per say - but I am far more active than I used to be. I am a huge fan of "unofficial" exercise. I park away from the entrance to things to get in more steps. I get up more at work (desk job). I take the stairs whenever possible. Every little bit counts! I also walk a few times a week after work for about 15-20 minutes. I do want to take an aerobic class somewhere thought...I am sure if I start to do cardio, the weight would start to come off at a more steady pace...Looking forward to pumping it up! :biggrin2:
  2. Hey Kay - I just wanted to let you know that you are not alone. I hate to exercise too! I avoid it like the plague and make excuses why I can't do it. It is tough to get started and stick to a work out routine...when you haven't done it before. I did NO physical activity - I couldn't even clean my house without taking 50 breaks! I have started parking farther away from the entrance in the parking lot, taking stairs more often, getting up at work (desk job) more often...every little bit counts! Start slow...as we lose more weight, it will become easier! Hang in there - the weight will eventually start to come off. I haven't lost as much weight as people who have been banded around the same time I have either. But the most important thing is I feel great! I am losing inches too, which is really exciting! Wishing you the best of luck!:biggrin2:
  3. Looking good girls!!!! Allison - you have a glow to you now! Your face and shoulders look so much smaller! Keep up the good work! Lamonica - looking good girl!!! Doesn't it feel good to slip on jeans that were too small before? Amazing! Just imagine what we are going to look like this time next year!
  4. got mine today - not bad at all! they have a nice cheese flavor and a crispy crunch! Anyone else like them?
  5. I posted these on my blog and thought I'd post them here too...I would love to see other's progress! This is me - 20-ish (who's counting?) pounds lighter. NO pre-op diet - this is all after the band. I am very happy with my progress. :biggrin2: slow and steady!
  6. I am struggling with craving ANY and EVERY thing under the sun. I swear people's heads are starting to look like big hot dogs. ummmm - I want on from the grill right now! And the pen that I am writing with is starting to look like a twizzler. I crave salty and sweet - all day! food is all I think about. I am sick of obsessing over what to eat next and what NOT to eat. Everywhere I look, there's food. The smells... How do you deal with it? I don't want to hear, walk, or work-out, etc...nothing works!!!!!! Will I be in Head Hunger Hell for the rest of my life?:cursing:
  7. I suffer from migraines and one hit me about a 3 weeks after surgery. I was at work and the pain was coming on FAST! I was freaking out because my doctor said to only take Tylenol. But for those who suffer migraines, we all know tylenol does NOTHING! So I tried to be compliant and took 2 tylenol. It did nothing. About an hour later, I took 2 Aleve. Still in PAIN! About an hour after that, I was desperate - getting nauseous, and in pain big time, and working on a project (spreadsheets) I called my husband and told him what I was about to do (just incase something happened) said a prayer and took 2 Excedrine Migraine...and I was fine. Headache went away in about 20 minutes. And I have taken it twice since then have been fine. I think you will be ok! Good luck to you! Did your headache at least go away?
  8. Nice to meet everyone! Here's a little about me: My Name is Lexy, I am 28 (29 in the 26th). I am a pround wife and mommy to an 8 year old and a 5 year old. I am an Executive Administrator and a Weddng/Event Planner. I am from/live in Philly! I decided to get the Lap Band because plain and simple, I was tired of being fat and having high blood pressure. Once I had to start taking meds, that was it! I am doing well so far - this was the best decision I have ever made! :scared2: Please feel free to read my blog!
  9. what a good idea...I'd love to join!
  10. Don't feel bad KiKiVal! I have been going back and forth with these couple of pounds for almost a month now...BUT I am losing inches, so that's good...i guess...still trucking along though. I am trying just protein and veggies...we'll see how this works.
  11. Watermelon was a staple in my mushie stage! I of course chewed really well and had no problems!
  12. I do use a straw every morning with my iced tea (that my doctor ok'd) and I have no problems. None. But everyone is different, you have to see what you can and can't tolerate.
  13. I am officially addicted to the Frosted Mini Wheats...it's my "guilty pleasure" even thought, it's not too bad for me... I have NO problem eating them (I have them dry for breakfast and the occasional snack) - they are quite filling too. I would give it a try and see how you can tolerate them.
  14. Well my menu varies from day to day - so maybe we can post daily what our menus look like here! Breakfast - 1 cup of dry shredded frosted mini wheats, chewed really well - YUM they lasted me at least 30 minutes. lunch - 1 cup of salad greens with a grilled chicken breast and Vidalia onion vinaigrette Snack - Yoplait light yogurt dinner will be grilled tilapia and steamed veggies
  15. Wow!!! Way to go!! I haven't lost more than a pound in just over a month! Hopefully with this fill that I got on Thursday - the scale will start moving again! What are you eating? Some tips would be appreciated!!
  16. My surgeon is awesome! Went in for my first fill today...She pretty much had the needle in with the syringe dangling... After she would push the saline in, I would drink the barium to see if I was restricted. After seeing the barium slip right through the first couple of times without a problem, she asked me how it was drinking water... and after the 4 "push" of saline - we watched on the fluoroscopy as the barium just kind of hung out in my pouch and slowly went through. So pretty much she didn't have a target of what to put in! It was a matter of seeing how fast the barium went throught and how I felt! YAY! I am restricted. I'm just hoping and praying that this is my "sweet spot".
  17. Damm workplace sweets!!!! In my office, there are bagels and donuts in the morning, and Cookies in the afternoon. Not to mention the weekly birthday and anniversary celebrations with cake AND ice cream! I feel your pain. I *will* sneak in a bite here and there BUT I feel good knowing that it is MUCH less than I used to have pre-band!
  18. Whatever you have, I am hella jealous! You got your first fill 2 weeks after surgery?!? I was banded on May 19th and my first fill is tomorrow!!!! It sounds to me like you have restriction. The tightness, from what I have heard, is the food slowly moving through the band, it may have been too big of a bite...but you are restricted for sure. You weren't required to go on liquids after your fill? I wish you look - hopefully this is a sweet spot for you.
  19. Welcome to being banded! I felt the same way. I was on full liquids for 3 weeks and the last week was torture! I was starving and could not have anything...I would think about what I couldn't eat and feel sad. Like I lost a friend. I came on here and read, read, read. People say to walk, or read, or get out of the house - but that doesn't help a food addict. I think of food wherever I am 24/7... (I had a dream about Krispy Kreme donuts last night) hahaha! My advice to you is keep trucking along. And I hate to be the bearer of negativity - but it won't get better until you get restriction. I go in for a fill on Thursday and today, I could eat anything. I am doing the right thing based on my will power and it is HARD. I have realized that with the band, we have to think long term. This isn't a quick fix. We still have to work and watch what we eat...it will take some time to realize, but it's true. Good Luck to you!!
  20. Ok, who has gotten their first fill? I go in on Thursday for a follow-up and "we'll see about a fill" appointment...I will pretty much beg for a fill! The scale finally moved down 1 pound since my post op appt. on June 4th...so that is pretty much 1 pound lost in a month. :smile2: I feel better, but don't think I look any different, despite being down a size. I am learning to have patience though. The weight didn't come on overnight, and I don't expect to lose it - BUT - 1 pound in a month?? GRRRRRRRR!
  21. sunshinelady... Omg I could have written your post! I am tracking every bite, getting in about 1000 calories a day and walking 20 minutes a day and no loss! I even gained 3 pounds this week! I just dont understand that if I easily ate 2500 calories before surgery, and cutting back as much as I am, why aren't I losing weight??????? I am very discouraged but will keep on going... I guess it will eventually pay off... At least I hope.
  22. This is a very enlightening post. This is just what I needed to read...I am pre-fill and glad that I am reading this before having the fill. I am comfortable that I will know how to use my "tool" to be successful! Another reason why I love this board!
  23. Hang in there...you are NOT alone. I am dealing with the same issue. Haven't lost a pound since my post-op visit on June 4th! And I go back in forth in my head, questioning if I should have gotten the RNY. I considered it in the beginning. BUT I went with the lapband for a reason. I keep going over those reasons in my head and it helps. I *wanted* slow weight loss. I wanted to have more control over what I ate and how much. I wanted to have to work hard to obtain loss and not so much have the "easy way out". I wanted a safe procedure, not having my insides cut and attahced - with the possiblity of leaks. I knew this was going to be tough, but not as hard as it has been. I just go over and over in my mind, why I chose the Lap Band. It helps. And I also remind myself that it has only been just under a month since surgery. 17 pounds down in a month is darn good! And you are down 10! That is HUGE. Just keep trucking along. We will eventually get results. Have a chat with your nutritionist to be sure you are doing the right thing. Keep up with yoru fills and you will have weight loss. The Lap Band works - we just have to have patience. That is what I am struggling with. PATIENCE. It will be worth it in the end. I promise you!
  24. Just curious to see how many you guys are consuming for weight loss - I am at 800-1000 and the scale isn't moving! What is a typical menu? I am usually having: B - 1 scrambled egg w/ half slice of LF cheese, 1/2 cup of blueberries and half slice of whole grain "small-loaf" toast. S - 1 cup of 1% milk L - 1 cup tuna salad made w/ LF mayo, celery, onions, salt and pepper and other half of whole grain toast S - Activia yogurt and almonds D - Grilled tilapia and brown rice made w/ chicken broth and steamed green Beans I occasionaly have a treat - only IF I am under my 800 calories for the day! And I am walking 20-30 minutes at least 3 times a day...what are you guys doing? I did not know it would be this hard.
  25. Taking it one day at a time. I have been making some not-so-great choices...but not nearly as bad as I used to be. But I am not doing someting right - the scale isn't moving. I am getting in between 800-1000 calories a day (which is the target for lap band weight loss from what I read) and nothing. No loss whatsoever - since my post op appt on June 4th. I am looking forward to my fill on the 3rd. I have absoultely NO restriction and mt appetite is back at full force! It's a little scary - especially when I feel like I should be doing so much better. But then again, it hasn't been a month..I need to be easier on myself.
