  1. Thanks
MrsHTX got a reaction from NettyD in New license or ID and passport or work badges.
Luckily my license expired 7 months after my surgery so it was perfect timing. I'm concerned about my passport though. I dont think it looks like me at all anymore. I had just renewed so I''m dreading paying for another one.
I've lost 85 pounds and oddly my wedding ring still fits just fine. I always had slim finger so I guess I really didn't lose any weight there. Same shoe size also, but my feet don't hurt anymore!

I flew from San Diego to Houston. I paid a little extra for one of the rows with extra leg room and I was fine. I was worried about blood clots so I wanted to be able to stretch and move around. I had plastic bags also in case I got sick and couldnt make it to the restroom, but I was fine. I dont think you need first class.

I was off for one week. I survived, but if I had it to do over again I would take two.

It's kind of like when you're in your late teens/early twenties and not only you can eat any junk food you want and not get fat, you could probably eat the styrofoam container it comes in and be fine. Then, as time goes on, those bad habits catch up to you. Then you end up fat enough that you have to have major surgery...
You can probably get away with not tracking what you eat, drinking as much as you used to drink, eating with little to no plan, etc. for a while. You'll probably lose some real weight, too. Then you won't. You probably won't lose all you want to lose. And you'll be much more likely to gain most of it or all of it back.
This isn't a fear or a superstition I have. It's a thing I have seen in these forums repeatedly. It's what it looks like when someone doesn't make the commitment to changing they need to make and they blow it. It happens gradually, and it's not a straight drop down, so people usually don't even realize they're doing it.
All of this said, I don't think you're doing *that* badly in terms of what you are eating. The scary part isn't the specifics of what you're eating/drinking, it's that you don't seem to have a plan or track things. You seem content to just go with what feels right and trust it work out.
I would only remind you that trusting yourself to eat what seemed okay made you an obese person who needed bariatric surgery.
It wouldn't even be that hard to get back on track. It's just taking a step back, talking things over with your nutritionist, starting to log what you do on MyFitnessPal, trying to have a plan and accountability.
I wish you the best, man.

No I’m sure you aren’t the only one out there doing it your own way. Get back to us is about 3 years and let us know how it worked for you.

MrsHTX got a reaction from tronlev in 8 months post-op, how are you feeling/eating?
My surgery was 5/1/17 and I feel good. Some days I eat just fine and some days I can only eat a little but other than that I'm good. It sounds like stress is your main issue and we all know what that can do to anyone. Hopefully once you get settled into school and get a routine going you can relax some and ease your symptoms. Best of luck to you! Just hang in there.

I'm 8 months out and mine still makes a lot of noise after I eat. When I'm in quiet places like work I try to eat very light to minimize it.

My plan: "Thank you! I'd love one, they look delicious! But I'm going to have to take it home for later, because I'm stuffed right now."
Then, I'll find someone who looks like they need a treat and pay it forward:)
I don't have to eat it to accept it graciously and comment that it's a lovely gesture and looks yummy. Bonus: I get to give ti to someone else and make them happy:)
Have never met a homeless person who didn't want a cookie. Bonus points if I can pick them up a cup of coffee to go with it.

MrsHTX got a reaction from MrsObs in I used to enjoy eating
I completely understand. I hated eating for probably the first three months after my surgery. I hated that I could only eat certain stuff, I hated that if I took one bite too many I would be in pain, I hated not knowing if it was going to upset my stomach, and I hated how long it took me to eat a small quantity. Now that I'm more familiar with my new stomach I know what to expect so it isn't so bad anymore. I still don't enjoy eating like I used to, but that's fine. I just want eat to live instead of the other way around. I'm now grateful for all of the restrictions.

I have lost 41 kilos so far and I am already rolling my boobs up to put in my bra. Cup size hasn't changes so I am definitely going down the Plastic Surgery path. I am doing all this work to improve my health and I don't expect to be perfect, but I would like to be able to be comfortable.

I feel like that sometimes. What helps me is making sure I get the BEST three or four bites first. For example, if I am eating taco meat with cheese, I eat the cheesiest bites first. Even then, though, I don't get the same satisfaction with eating that I used to. I'm ok with that, though . . . I think if I did, it would be hard to maintain this lifestyle. Does that make sense?
