Plastics or no plastics ?

I'm curious what people's views are on having plastic surgery. And if you plan on having it .. at what stage will you have it ?

For me.. initially I thought I'd never have plastics surgery and neither did I think I'd ever have weightloss surgery lol but here we are hah so I'm open minded. Now I'm only 4 months in. And I've lost 58lbs. I didn't expect to be as saggy as I am as when I lost 50 lbs in the same amount of time I didn't sag but oddly I've lost more inches this time round. So I think when I get to my goal weight my tummy will not be so great so now I'm contemplating a tummy tuck at goal.i can cope with my boobs looking like someone removed some socks out of a stuffed sock so it's just deflated.. lol

Curious to hear from those who have had it too. And at what stage in their journey they had it.

I have lost 41 kilos so far and I am already rolling my boobs up to put in my bra. Cup size hasn't changes so I am definitely going down the Plastic Surgery path. I am doing all this work to improve my health and I don't expect to be perfect, but I would like to be able to be comfortable.

I was actually thinking about this today. I'm starting to get batwings under the arms and I can't even talk about what's happening in my bra! I've lost 36kg (about 80 pounds) and I'm starting to sag everywhere. I have lost large amounts of weight before (pre-surgery, I was very good at losing weight, I just can't keep it off) and it just wasn't this bad. It might be that I'm getting older or that the weight loss has been much faster with the surgery. It's just so expensive to even think about plastic surgery. I don't know if it's OK to fly to some developing country and get it done there to save money. If I do have it, it wouldn't be until I've maintained my weight for at least a year or something. The body does repair itself a little.

I can't afford plastics. I'm also an old fart (49) and never expected to be a bikini model after surgery. The only people that have to see me naked is me, my hubby and the occasional Dr. Started at 254 I'm 137 this morning. The loose skin I can tuck away with shape wear. A good bra does wonders.

Reality the skin on my mid section hangs below the top creases of my legs. Bat wings, My butt and my back, my inner thighs. The only reason you can't see it in the photos is shapewear and clothing to hide it.

Weightlifting is filling the skin out a bit. But it will never be gone unless I have plastics.

Im three years out. I think I can live with it.

Wow you look perfect. I don't have a husband anymore otherwise I'm sure I'd be able to live with it. I have two kids with my ex husband. Pre surgery. And now I have to start all over again lol

I've bought shape way recently. They are too lose. So perhaps I'm still a mess in mind about my sizing lol. You look awesome

You look wonderful!!! What brand of shape wear do you wear? So many out there, I don’t know where to start....

Honestly? I'd LOVE a total body lift. They could just tie all the extra stuff up on top of my head like a bun! :D But the reality is, that I know I'll need it (old fart here too), and I know I won't be able to afford it. My ins. won't cover cosmetic elective surgeries. I will work out to be the best saggy elephant I can be...but dayum!!! If I look as smokin' hot as @jenn1 I will start dressing like a teenage tart about to go to a Rave, cuz I will feel like I'm all that and a bucket of KFC extra crispy! LOL. I will live in shapewear if it makes me look like that! :D But I digress. I would also share my adventures in plastics with everyone--shouting it from the rooftops!

About the only chance I'd have of getting plastics is if I get cellulitis. That is a distinct possibility, especially in my lymphedema arm. The only way they will touch it because of risk of infection, would be if it had to be debulked to keep me from dieing. That may be my only shot at getting a lymph node transplant with revasculature (it's experimental). If it happened, I'd probably be allowed a tummy tuck or lower body lift with it.

I fear my arms, tummy, legs, and neck will be a lost cause...sharpei-city.

(Oh, and @jenn1 TY for piccys! You know I :780_sparkling_heart: piccys! So inspirational!)

I'm only 6 months out from surgery, but I know I want to have plastics done. The two things I want the most would be abdominoplasty to get rid of hanging skin which I had before surgery and to the boobs put back where they used to be, lol. I would also not be opposed to getting bat wings removed and possibly the tops of my thighs lifted some day. I am worried about the cost, so I will have to see what I want the most, and I've heard it can be quite painful to have the abdominoplasty done. I have a while yet to go before any decisions are made, but I have some thinking to do about whether or not the pain and cost will be worth it.

Trial and error to see what type of shapewear works for you.

The ones that work for me I found at burlington coat factory for $14.00. They are a hit and miss to find. I don't see them on their website anymore. (If anyone finds the trifox shapewear on a site that has smaller sizes please message me)

The only type that works for me have eye hook and zipper front to pull things up and in. I like the type that you can wear your own bra. This type helped my clothing to fit. I had to go a size up to fit my lose skin correctly.

Trifox zip front shapewear -

the spanx type just smoothed the rolls and bulges a bit, Clothing still didn't fit right.

You look pretty darn good there my freind!!!

I had a Panni (skin removal on my tummy). I was 2 years out and had maintained my weight for 1 and 1/2 years. Anyone having PS I would recommend doing the Tummy tuck, not just a panni. I feel like my PS ripped me off big time. Now I am happy with the skin removal (they took 10 plus #'s off) but he didn't do what we had agreed on. He was supposed to cut me down the middle plus the below my belly like a big smiley face. He then told me that he would pull all of my loose skin U and Around. Right away I started asking him ?'s about my upper stomach, he first said it would go down it was swelling. NOT!!! He only removed the stomach skin!! I look like a melting candle in the back. I have tight skin on my upper stomach but he now told me I needed Lipo. I feel like he deceived me! He was hoping to make more work for himself!! He told me that he would do a deal for me. A breast lift (I had talked some about it) and Lipo for $6,000.00 Since then I have done some pricing around and t is a good price but....he won't get my business if I ever decide to finish it all. I feel like clothes can hide a multitude of sins for sure. I have to buy bigger clothes due to my upper stomach. But I don't know if I will ever really accept my body. LOl I do know when I lost we ght while I was younger I did NOT have these skin issues at all. But I am 61YO now and believe me get it off while you are younger. I sure wish I had. My daughter is 38 and overweight I keep telling her to get it off now because it will get harder as you age. I'm not sure she beleives me tho.

The complement is nice thank's.

If you can afford surgery or insurance coverage that's great! ( I cant afford it)

I just wanted to give a different perspective on the loose skin issue. It's a fear of the unknown outcome from surgery. I hope people mentally prepare for it pre surgery. I googled loose skin from weight loss images. Worst case and best case scenarios.

Trust me, I look like a shar pei puppy nude.

Oh you should see me naked. LOL Like I said I look like a melting candle from my back. Like I said my PS removed 0#'s plus. The only way I got the Panni done is because it was medically needed. But I wish I had paid the extra for a tummy tuck. Oh Well, we all just do what we have to do, THANK GOODNESS my clothes covers up most of it. I even tried that high waisted spandex but all I could think of was getting home to get the DANG thing off. I had the hardest time finding bras that held me, I did find some called SHAPEEZ they cover some of the fat on my arms and down my back so I don't have bumps that look awful. They were expensive but I feel like they are worth it. In the end, we are just our own worst critics. 10Plus#'s

My insurance actually just approved me for tummy tuck/ skin removal. Surgery was February of this year and down 143lb so far. Any advice on recovery time after skin removal?

Sent from my SM-J327P using BariatricPal mobile app

I'm not sure about the tummy tuck but my Panni was simple pieman!! The worse thing was I had to have my daughter come and change my band-aids and those pesky drains!! The pain was nothing. I walked and got up real slow because it did feel like it pulled sometimes. Like I said easy peasy skin removal.

I agree with shedo82773. It is so important to lose it when you are younger. I am now 53 and like everyone here have battled my weight all my life. It is harder now than it ever has been. Same with Surgery, if you are gonna do it you are gonna heal and recover better and faster when you are younger. I really really wish I had had the wls 30 years ago. I also really wish I had my G cup size boobs reduced 30 years ago. But feel whether you do decide to have plastic surgery It is your choice for what is right for you, financially, mentally, physically. I don't think any of us should be ashamed to do what makes us feel better about ourselves. For me. I am lucky my insurance will cover some of it.

I hope and pray that one day I can accept my body for what it is and for what I have done to it. I also hope and pray that everyone here can do the same. It is painful going through life feeling like a second rate citizen because we are struggling with our weight. I tell myself everyday, I am a good kind person and that is truly what I want to be. And no one should be ashamed of doing the things to make themselves feel even better.

I think I got of the track a bit but just felt I needed to say something to all you beautiful people who struggle every day.
