lb2017 got a reaction from SleeveMe88 in PCOS and surgery
Yeeesssss me tooooo! I've gone years without having it too. Scary thing. People always say "oh lucky you for not having a period" and I say lucky you for having one because it's abnormal not to have one and can cause many problems.

Wow! That is awesome! Congratulations! I'm so excited. Right now I'm taking a medication to come on my period. I haven't had the surgery yet but I will this year. I'm still in the beginning phase of going to classes and seminars and all that good stuff!

I was sleeved 4/6 and am down 30 lbs (14 preop and 16 postop)
Out of the plus size dept, (at least in tops)
can walk without my knees and back hurting
face is thinner, starting to recognize myself again!!!
walking 2-3 miles per day and prior to surgery a walk to the corner mailbox was torture between knee pain and being out of breath
sleeping so much better, like I turned the clock back 20 years on that one!
Congrats to everyone who has made this decision and is transforming.

lb2017 reacted to blizair09 in WHY OH WHY EAT FAST
I have to ask -- why do you keep doing all of this to yourself? Your posts are really memorable. Pretty quick after your surgery, you were asking about eating chicken wings while you were watching the Super Bowl. When you were on vacation in New Orleans, you asked about alcohol. A week or so ago, you ate onion rings and they made you sick, and now you are eating too fast and eating bread.
I mean absolutely no judgment -- for instance, I'll have a drink or two occasionally now that I am this far along -- but it seems like you go into things knowing that they will produce an undesirable result or discomfort, but you do them anyway. And then you regret it later.
Just an observation. Definitely stay away from the bread, though. Nothing good can come from it.
Good luck!

lb2017 reacted to blizair09 in No pre liquid diet?
Since I lost 100 pounds during my six month pre-op diet program, my surgeon didn't require me to do a pre-op liquid diet. I did it for 3 days pre-op of my own accord to help me get in the liquid mindset as I knew I was going to have to do it for 3 weeks post-op.

Hello! I have PCOS but no diabetes. I too found it very difficult to lose the necessary weight prior to surgery. I incorporated Premier Protein shakes (30g) as a Meal Replacement at least once a day. Cut all carbs - it will be difficult but WORTH IT! No Pop, Crystal Light will become a good friend - plenty of Water to flush everything out and walk! I hope this helps - good luck!!

lb2017 reacted to Jill_Me in How soon after surgery have you started to smoke?
I say this with utmost respect for nicotine addiction. I smoked for 15 years and tried to quit multiple times. You never smoke again after weight loss surgery because the risk to your new stomach is terrifying. Don't be an idiot and ever smoke again. Just don't.

lb2017 reacted to SleevyNicks in How soon after surgery have you started to smoke?
Wellbutrin worked for me too, like a charm. It was prescribed for depression and the quitting smoking was just a side effect.

lb2017 reacted to barefoot_gardener in How soon after surgery have you started to smoke?
I totally understand the struggle. I was a smoker for 20 years. I was prescribed Wellbutrin and honestly quit in a couple weeks. I wasn't even trying; smoking just didn't sound good anymore. It still doesn't. I've quit multiple times in my life but this was HANDS DOWN the easiest. I would recommend anyone to try it and see if the same holds true for them.

lb2017 reacted to FindingCarrie in 14 Weeks Post Op - Multiple Stalls
So I am 14 weeks Post op, and things are going great. However, I have had several stalls, which get discouraging. I will go 2-3 weeks and not lose a pound, and then drop 5 lbs in one week! So weird how the body works. When I am feeling disappointed in the slow weight loss, I do side by side photo comparisons of before and after. Here is one that lifted my spirits today. When you see yourself every day, you don't always see the huge changes that are taking place. Don't always count on the scale to show you your victories! Use photos and body measurements as well. You will need them at times when the scale is not moving.

I had my surgery 12/1 and I so remember being and feeling exactly where you ladies are but know soon you will look up and be to your new normal of feeling good AND looking good! My highest weight was 215, at surgery I was 192, and today I'm 152 just 10lbs away from goal weight. Ladies it gets better I promise just take it one day at a time but start with the end in mind[emoji6] Congrats ladies!!!

lb2017 reacted to nicugal36 in Best decision I've ever made
For the person that is pre-op right now wondering if this is really the right decision for you while you struggle with your insurance for coverage, I was you.
For the person that is recently post op and has a million and one questions, excitement mixed with regret and is scared to death to drink Bc of that weird, heavy and sometimes painful feeling, I was you.
For the person in the first 3 phases after the surgery struggling to get down their Protein, Water and Vitamins in.. or these vitamins, I was you.
To the person that is weighing themselves every day, twice a day and finds themselves stalled even though you are doing EVERYTHING right, I was you.
To the people on this journey that are learning more and more about themselves every day, finding the strength in will power and the empowerment of eating to live instead of living to eat, gaining back your confidence while on some days still struggling with poor self-consciousness, I am you.
This journey began for me 8 months ago, and what a journey thus far.. there has been struggling, feelings of defeat and many tears.. but I would do the VSG again in a heartbeat Bc I have my life back, I am no longer a prisoner in my body and I have grown so much as a person. People sometimes ask me if I have any regrets, the only "regret" that I have is that I didn't do this surgery sooner.
Wishing everyone on this journey (pre and post op) support, love, and light.
YOU CAN DO THIS!
Below is a pic I took the day of surgery August 24, 2016
Next to it is a pic that I took exactly 7 months post op on March 24, 2017
I'm down 68 pounds.

[emoji23][emoji23] your doctor said that!! My doctor messed with me about food. He kept telling me that my stomach had a notification device in it and would send him a text if I ate something bad, so I needed to follow instructions exactly! Lol

Wow never heard of self testing. It's a requirement for me as well. I'm going today for my sleep study consult.

It's not for practice, its to shrink your liver so the drs can do the surgery without your liver being in the way.

lb2017 reacted to DMac in Sleep study failure
I had to go back and re accomplish mine. Dr gave me a sleep aide. Severe apnea is 30 or more episodes per hour. I had 62 average episodes per hour. The CPAP is awesome. Best rest ever. I use to sleep 12 and 15 hours a day. Now 4 hours and I can be rested the whole day. And no more naps. Awesome machine.

lb2017 reacted to Mcjay in Sleep Apnea Testing
A sleep apnea exam is a requirement for surgery approval but my insurance only does self testing where they'll mail me the equipment to test I use overnight and mail it all back. Has anyone else had to do a self administered exam?? Kind of nervous
