Smores reacted to Black911 in Two week liquid diet troubles
I'm drinking a shake or eating every 2 to 3 hours so I won't get hungry. Ensure you DRINK the Water too. I'm in the restroom every 15 minutes! It's tiresome, but we HAVE to ensure no complications.

YOU CAN DO THIS! ASK GOD FOR STRENGTH. I'VE ALREADY SAID A PRAYER FOR YOUR STRENGTH. YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Smores reacted to OutsideMatchInside in What is your favorite way to stay active on the rainy days?
Walk in the rain. I walked and didn't let the weather interrupt my schedule at all the first year. I walked in the rain and the cold, and the snow. I walked when it was 10 degrees.
I made a habit and I wanted to keep that habit going. The only way to do it was to do it every day, rain or shine.
I tried walking in the mall, it was so boring. I'd rather get wet.

Feeling gross and looking gross are 2 different things.
What is your goal weight? I wouldn't expect you to see or feel a huge change with 20 pounds either.
I don't feel like some of us really appreciate what surgery does for us until we hit uncharted territory. I appreciated my loss but it wasn't until I got somewhere I had never been and never imagined, a size 8, that I was really in awe.

Just wanted to post and say... I DID IT!!!! I am officially sleeved. It feels so surreal like my mind still hasn't registered that I'm here and it's done. Recovery is going AMAZING. No gas pain besides really slight discomfort in my shoulders (which feels better than the acid reflux. Slight discomfort in one area but it's manageable. The staff are amazing!!! I had a hiatal hernia (which I suspected but it hadn't been confirmed until the endoscopy was done yesterday so doctor repaired that while he did the sleeve. I woke easily from anesthesia and have been awake since. There are 4 of us here and out of the 3 of us who had surgery my recovery has been the easiest and fastest. For those second surgery in Mexico DON'T... the care has been nothing short of the best I've had ever. For those second guessing having surgery... DON'T!!! I do not regret a thing!!

I agree revesefoward. Some people say things like " I know someone that got real sick from that surgery or It only lasts for a short time then you gain it all back". Also, My BMI is 35.6 but I have four health issues that go along with being obese. My sister-in-laws are saying that I'm not fat enough to have the surgery. According to the guild lines I DO qualify. I'm not going to tell too many people. I've already learned my lesson.

I'm a private person. However, I decided not to be so private in letting people know what I've decided to do. I'm still going through the process of attending various classes, meeting with psy to do eval, speaking with nutritionist, etc. Here's my thought...the more information I gather and hearing others who has gone through WLS, the better inform I am. My husband was the first to know. He is very SUPPORTIVE in so many ways. And frankly, he's all that matters. As my 9yrs old grandson told me once, people will talk about you no matter what.....Besides I care less what people think or say about me. So I'm telling everyone I know.

Just got approved today. The only people that know are my husband, kids, and my sister (who is helping with my children post-op). I just don't want to deal with anyone's opinions or questions right now.

    I might tell the truth...someday

The only study is the one they sponsored, and they are also being sued over it.
First lets start with that hilarious thread from the body builders forum, where their attorney showed up...
    https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=162454451
Then their sponsored study (it doesn't count if it isn't independent, everyone with a college education knows that)
    https://clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT02919657
    The lawsuit
    https://www.law360.com/articles/865678/protein-powder-maker-accuses-rival-of-false-advertising

If they could really do this, NASA would be beating down their door and Elon Musk would have purchased the company.
They are just taking advantage of the fact most people suck at science and math.

@Sherrie Scharbrough If these studies were so great or you were a real person, people wouldn't have to PM you for the information, you would just post it.

I did use Contrave and every diet out there. Contrave did not work for me. This is my last hope. I know it won't be easy but I'm ready. I'm hoping to get the sleeve surgery this July if all goes well. Good luck with everything. I will say a prayer for you.

I don't know if this is necessarily the place to post this, but I just got married!!!! This woman has been by my side through the last 2 and a half years in this journey. She met me when I weighed over 600 pounds. I am now back down to my playing weight for football in college, but I am much healthier and and in better shape than I was then. I still have a lot of work to get under 3 bills, but I am extremely happy to head down this new path in life.

Hi Jason. Congrats on your journey thus far! I am starting maintenance after my next doctor visit in Feb, if all goes well. I'm currently on 30g carbs except for one day a week when I can go up to 90. I average 90 G Protein a day. I don't calculate fat grams on my plan, but I make generally healthy decisions. On maintenance I'll be allowed up to 85 g of carbs/day and Protein can go down to 60 g/day. I will monitor to see how it works and adjust as necessary.

Smores reacted to Lizzle in When were you allowed low fat cream soups?
We're sleeve buddies! I was one week ago today, too. I've been allowed strained cream Soup "with no particles" since day 3 but have only tried it once as straining to a smooth consistency wasn't easy. Starting Wednesday (day 10), I'm allowed "pureed soup and add a dollop of sour cream for flavor." I'm encouraged to mix Protein Powder in the pureed soup.

Smores reacted to biginjapan in Hair loss?
Last week was my 3-month surgiversary and as a present, the Hair loss began. To be fair, so far it looks like the kind of normal hair loss I experienced for years (natural shedding? age? malnutrition?) but ever since my surgery I have had experienced very very low levels of hair loss. I've been taking Biotin for a few months since before surgery, and using biotin-based shampoos and conditioners. I don't know if any of that helped, but I sure hope that the hair loss I seem to be experiencing doesn't last too long - I don't have a thick head of hair to begin with!

Hi all- I'm a vet, had my wls in 2014. Lost to goal and then some and have successfully maintained. I have also had all my plastic surgery and am just living a happy life now.
I am here because I want to be supportive of others. Bariatric surgery was very complicated for me and I feel I have a lot to contribute no matter where you are on your journey because I have really struggled myself. I want to be there for newbies and other vets who may need support down the line.

This surgey changed my life, almost cost me my life, and gave me back my life. If you want to talk I am here and never going to judge you.

I was told by my doctors to loose weight. I tried and was successful a few times but it came back plus. I decided to get the surgery, I went through all of the meetings and psychiatrist. I was cleared to go and getting a date.
I decided it wasn't for me and of souls give it one more try on my own, about 3 years ago. It didn't work weight kept going up .
I had a partially parylize diaphragm from a snow mobile accident about 15 years ago that limited my breathing quite a bit.
So once again I decided to get sleeved meetings ,classes, physicistrists. I dropped about 20 lbs on my pre op diet. I started like you a few days out doubting the surgery. I wascsleeved on Feb 28th .
I am so happy I did . I am down 60 lbs started at 298 I am 239 now, a want to loose another 50 lbs . My biggest mistake was not doing it 3 years ago. I feel amazing I can breath much better I walk 3.5 mikes a day in the morning . Don't cheat yourself. Stick with it. You will be so much better off. Don't worry what people my think of you, we are lucky to have this tool. Andvthstvis what it is a tool to get you back on track . You are worth it.
