Sleeve1stFitNext got a reaction from Chrissy0629 in I have an event the day after surgery- will I feel up to going?
As long has someone else will be driving then the answer is yes. I went to Home Depot, Target, Walmart, BJ's and Petsmart within 30 minutes of being released. Granted I was uncomfortable and rode around in the scooters but I would say yes. Just make sure someone else is driving. You may still feel a little out of it due to all the pain killers they provide you with.

Sleeve1stFitNext got a reaction from Apple1 in 3 weeks to the day, and feeling HUGE REGRETS!
This is normal. You have buyers remorse. You regret the decision you made because you do not feel the instant gratification you thought you would feel. The first few weeks are the hardest. Nothing comes easy and this is the hardest part of the journey you will have.
I made a YouTube video in which I talked about the depression that I was feeling.
Honestly, it gets better. A lot better. It just takes time. Your feeling towards food is due to your fear that it will make you sick or that you think eating will make you gain weight. I felt both those emotions. Just know you need to eat, it is essential. Do not fear food. You will only be trading in one extreme for another. The goal is to gain a healthy relationship with food.
I used to live to eat. Now I eat to live. I look at food as what nutrition can I get from it. I make all kinds of recipes of my favorite foods, just low carb and calorie options.
It does get better. It just takes time.

It is normal. The air bubbles especially. I would get them every time I ate or drank something in the first 2 weeks. You may also feel a foamy mouth when you first start eating. Also, I have foamy mouth when I eat one bite too many.
I did not have diarrhea. I was constipated most of the time. I do get it now if I eat something that does not agree with my sleeve (I tried red meat recently - omg I felt like I was dying).
If your really feeling like something is wrong then reach out to your Surgeon. Only you know your body and if something is off, you will know and feel it.

I am over 3 months out. So my schedule is different and I do Keto Diet for myself. My day consist of the following:
Breakfast - shake or 2 egg Whites (boiled or scrambled) with 2 pieces of turkey bacon. Or a lettuce BLT wrap (turkey bacon of course and lite mayo).
snack 1 - Turkey salad (Romaine Lettuce, 2 oz of turkey and Slice Tomato). I also make my own Salad Dressing.
lunch - Stuffed green Bell pepper or diced chicken with guacamole, mozzarella cheese and some sour cream.
    Snack 2 - Protein Bar
dinner - Whatever was left over from Lunch lol.
Snack 3 - 14 olives and 1 pickle. I love my Olives and Pickles.
My suggestion is try Pinterest. Type in "Low Carb or Keto Diet Recipes". You will find a lot of interesting recipes to try.
I hope this helps. This is just a limited list. Each week is different.

This is a case of can and should. You probably can, but you shouldn't. You are having MAJOR surgery. Just because they don't cut you wide open doesn't mean it is not major. You are having 85% of a major organ removed, and they are cutting through muscle to get to it. You need to rest.
You are going to be exhausted, but you can probably be there, if you don't mind acting like Bernie in Weekend at Bernie's.
There is nothing wrong with recovering and taking care of yourself.

Sleeve1stFitNext got a reaction from Half-Tum in What should I have AT HOME immediately after surgery
I over prepared as well. I bought things I did not use. Thank goodness for return policies. My list of haves and have nots are below:
    1) Blender / Purée - I did not even use it. Returned it.
    2) Stocked up on Protein Shakes and broth I liked - I could not even drink them or stomach them. I still can't.
    3) sugar free Gatorade/Vitamin Water/Trimino - Was life for me. I was on Clear Liquids for 2 weeks. I had to bypass (no pun intended) the Protein Drink phase and go to puréed/soft foods.
    4) food scale - You will definitely need one of these. I use mines every week when I meal prep. Best thing since I found out I can eat cheese again!
    5) Chapstick - preferably the ones with natural oils. Lips get really chapped that first week.
    6) Sugar Free Jello/Popsicles - I used to run them over my lips to help melt them a little. It really helps with the chapped lips.
    7) Journal or Notebook - to keep track of the foods you can or cannot eat, Your inches and your weight.
    8) Shower Chair - I had one so I could sit under the hot Water and let us soothe my aches.
    9) Hot Compress - for those nights where you get uncomfortable.
    10) Two Pillows or Body Pillow - Make sure that they are extra fluffy. I could only sleep on my side so I bought a body pillow and placed my tummy on it. You will find that some awkward positions with pillows make you feel more comfortable lol.
Well this is my list. Remember everyone is different. What works for some may not work for you and what did not work for them may work you. It is pretty much trail and error. Good luck!!!

Sleeve1stFitNext got a reaction from Introversion in Hospital stay
Most insurances deny the hospital stays longer than one night because it is usually not necessary. I stayed over night and went home the next morning.
They will only approve it if there maybe a chance of high complications (ex. If you weigh more than 400 - 500lbs or slight heart problems).
However, if complications where to occur after your surgery then they would cover it. However, they will not approve something they do not deem necessary.
    I hope this helps.

I am backwards on mines. I have 2 boiled eggs whites 30 minutes before my workout. Then after my workout I will have a shake.
Also, one of my Snacks is a Protein Bar on workout days.
You can try adding an additional meal on the days you do cross fit. On the days I work out instead of 4-6 meals, I am having 6 or 7 (depending on the type of Protein I prepared). Okay

Like @blizair09 I would take this journey all over again. I am in the pre-op liquid stage on Day 6. This has been the hardest and yet most rewarding struggle. This is a tool, it is not the magic pill and it can only be used properly when you put your all into it.
I sought out the surgery, it was not offered to me. I did that because I had spent two years actively trying to lose weight and I was not succeeding. I have broken bones, spent thousands of dollars and this is my last hope. I think the more you read about it and look into it, the better you will feel.
I would not suggest getting the surgery if you are not ready to, have not actively tried losing weight and do not understand the tool and yourself.
As of now, I do not regret my decision. However, I will check in after the surgery lol. You never know with these things.

Sleeve1stFitNext got a reaction from chamilton0323 in Feeling discouraged only day 3
This is common. I was miserable during my recovery. I could not take the Protein Shakes, I could barely get down Water. It's only the first week and your feeling what we call is the "Buyers Remorse". Once the second week comes you will get better and each week after that gets better and better.
Here are some helpful tips (These are what I used):
    1) Set a timer 3-5 sips (depending on what you can handle) every 10-15 minutes.
    2) Take ice in between the sips and rub it around your lips. You will get in small amounts of extra liquid but it won't make you feel sick.
    3) Your body is still getting used to the lack of food. Your going to feel dizzy. Try walking around once an hour. Walk to the room door and back (do it 1-2 more times depending on how big the room is).
    4) Positive mind. This is the most crucial. When I thought negatively and was upset, it effected my whole body and I would make myself sick. Try thinking about the goal at the end and how far you have come. Hold those goals and memories tight. Let them run through your body. When you do not want to walk, think about the positive, when you do not want to sip, think of the positives and you will have the strength to take your sips and to walk.
These 4 tips got me through the hardest part of this journey. I hope it helps you as much as it did me.

Honestly, everyone is different and how they are able to take liquids and Protein Shakes changes from person to person. My doctor gave me the recommended 2 shakes and 64 oz once I was two weeks post op. However, I was not able to stomach my Protein shakes and they made me very sick. So my clear liquid diet lasted 2 weeks. With the second week was me getting in the 64oz Water needed. I took Protein Shots to get in the protein.
My advise is to try to get as much as you can in. If you cannot finish the rest do not force it. You will make yourself sick.
