Sherrie Scharbrough got a reaction from Newme17 in Old clothes? What did you do?
You my friend are going thru exactly what I did. My track record wasn't good with maintaining the weights I lost. So of course when I had to go thru my clothes in my mind all I wanted to do was save them!! At first I had family and friends to hand down too. But anything I want to get rid of now I have noone to give them too. TRUST your program, follow your guidelines and do whaterver your Surgeon says and you will lose weight and fast. Trust me you don't want or need to keep your old clothes!!! When I went thru my closet I had 2 huge lawn bags full!! One thing I found it is so REFRESHING to purge my closet. Before my WLS I didn't have or find many choices for clothes. Now I have kind of went a little crazy and I love to shop for them and also shoes!! Man, when I lost my weight I got into shoes too. I had never wore knee high boots in my life!! My hubby bought me a shoe tree tyo put them on!! LOL KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE PRIZE!! Good Luck and I look forward to following your journey!!

Hi, I chose the RNY!! For one thing I was told that it was "THE GOLD STANDARD" of WLS. Since then I see many getting great results with the SLEEVE. I had my RNY on July 2, 2013. I have maintained my 124# loss for 3 and 1/2 years. I did go below my goal weight but I did gain back 8#'s which was and is a good thing. I lost to 117#'s. I had some troubles with Strictures and had 5 ENDOSCOPES with 4 DIALATIONS. Not good but it was a easy fix. My hubby had the SLEEVE and in 1 year jhe has lost 135#'s. I am sure he could lose faster and lose more if his choices of food were different. When I started my journey one of the things that made up my mind was this, I felt like I had one shot and told myself GO BIG OR GO HOME!! I am totally happy with my choice of WLS. Good Luck on your Journey and keep us posted.

That is totally a normal thingy. For sure. Most of us have been heavy for so long that we still see the fat one when we look at ourselves. I'm 4 years out and as long as I don't look in the mirror (full Length mirror) I am ok. This is the time to measure yourself That is a mus. I didn't and am so sorry I didn't. Also take pictures, take them in a door because with seeing yourself like that you can really tell. I am also very guilty of not taking pictures. You know some of us are photogenic and some of us are not. I am the are nots. Good Luck in your journey and keep us posted on your success!!!

You could be dehydrated!! This is a problem with WLS, if you don't get all of your fluids in you can become dizzy etc. Have you checked to see if your blood sugar is ok? When you mentioned that orange juice helped it could very well be a low blood sugar. I had major dizzyness early on plus heart palpatations big time. When I exercised it felt horrible. When I went into my PCP he was worried that it was my heart. He ordered a Stress test, first one was physical and the second test was ultra sound with medicine to stress my heart out. It was because of dehydration. I am 4 years out and I still struggle some with getting in my Water. Mostly because I am a big coffee drinker!! But...I put GENEPRO in my Espresso and it has 30grams of Protein in it. A WIN WIN for me!! It has 30grams of protein. Good Luck

Just a thought. Everyone says that the SLEEVE is less invasive but what about them removing up tp 80% of your stomach. Yes the RNY does have its issues but you will hear of so many having to get the revisions done. For some reasons like GERD etc. I think that if it is medically needed to revise that is one thing but so many times on different sites you hear them say my SLEEVE or Lap Band didn't work for me I stopped losing weight. Or whatever. I also don't think anyone should go into a WLS with intentions of revision surgery later on. Now I know that I will catch back lash on this but...each to their own!! I hope everything goes great for everyone. Take care

Welll...I know I will get blasted about this because there are a few people that don't agree with my choice of Protein.. I love GENEPRO BTW I am 4 years out and I have tried sooo many Proteins I would hate to find out how much $$$ I actually have spent. So anyhow this is the only Protein unflavored which is unflavored. I mix it in my Espresso every day. It cost a little more but oh so worth it. Good Luck

You know I didn't have enough info on the DS. I just heard bad things about it. If it was like the woman I knew who had a business. She couldn't or didn't control her bowels. She wore WIND SONG perfume and let me tell you those 2 smells together were NOT appealing. I still don't know much about that surgery. I was told by my PCP before my WLS that I needed both restriction and malabsorption!!! I totally agree. One of the best things I have done for myself.

Hi Everyone, I hope you are having a nice day, the weather is beautiful here in Roseburg, Oregon but it is starting to get hot again. Now I can attest to trhe struggles of WLS and Maintance. We fall of the wagon because GUESS WHAT? We are human and we make bad choices at times. Because wer make bad choices DOES not mean we are BAD> It is a choice that we have ti becme aware of what our choices will effect us in negative ways. Now we all know what it takes to be successful, do you know why? Because we have been doing it for however long we are out from our surgery!! Just keep your eyes on the PRIZE!! Now KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!

Hi I am 61YO. I had my RNY when I was 57. I just had my 4 year Surgery Anniversary on July 2nd. I have had great results. Here are my STATS: HW 249 (I was 285 but managed to lose some over the last 6 years) SW 235 CW 130. I just gained 5#'s. I am trying not to stress out about this. I totally deserve this, I have been eating nuts big time. But now I am back on track. Man it is hard!! I still have no physical hunger at all but HEAD HUNGER is SO SO REAL!! My BMI is 23 so I am still ok. It hurts big time to have to admit this has happened to me. I know that it happens to the best of us. So onward and upward. I can do this!! As I have told others I know I can because I have what it takes cuz I have done it before. Have a great day!!

Hi and Conratulations on your upcoming Panni!! I had mine Sept of 2015. I am not happy with my results. First my PS didn't come thru with what he told e would happen. He cut me on my bikini line also up the middle. Now I don't know how you are built but most of my weight was carried in my stomach. He told me that the Panni would pull my excess lose skin on my Fupa. NOT!! He told me that he would pull all of the skin to the front from my back NOT!! I complained about not being happy with my upper stomach, he told me that it was swelling. I ask him to make sure I didn't end up with "dog ears" yep both sides. The last time I seen him he rtold me that I was blessed to have excess skin on my lower belly and my upper stomach. I re plied that I didn't think it was a blessing it is a curse! So after all of that he told me that I needed Lipo and he would give me a good deal, he would do the Lipo and a breast lift for $6,000 to $7,000. I feel like he was just making more work for himself!! BUT....the bottom line is I would have paid the extra to get what I needed to have done!! If Only!! Don't get me wrong I am not telling you this to upset you. And I don't know how you are built but if possible I would check into Muscle repair and a Tummy Tuck. If you don't carry your excess weight in your upper stomach then you will love your Panni I am sure!! My insureance paid 100%. So happy there. I still kick around if I want to have more done, but I am 60 almost 61 and even if I had the nice flat tight stomach no one would see it except my hubby and I. Good luck Keep us posted on your results!!

First my hubby had a Lap Band for 13 yrs. He had problems with not being able to eat or drink even wagter. So we went to a Bariatric Center of Excellance. He was going to have his Band removed and revise him to a RNY. When they got in the band had eroded into his liver and they couldn't finish the revision. He was deathly sick for 9 months with abcesses and had 5 differant bacterias. He can't remember 3 months. Fast forward to his DR that performed his removal dropped him!! Finally he had a ablation and a wound vac was put in. Last June we went to Mexico and he was supposed to have a RNY but...NOT!! His right side was totally scar tissue so he ended up with the Sleeve. It has taken him a year to finally figure out how and what to do. His mind tells him he can eat more than his body will allow. But he has lost 135#'s!! But he is still sad he didn't get the RNY. Things are ok now he still deals with mind hunger and I think he is figuring it out. May he continue to loose even more weight. Congratulations on your journey. I look forward to your future posts.
