Hello Citizens of WWWL ! (Wonderful World of Weighing Less )
I just wanted to say HI. Today is probably the first day I've felt really emotionally powerful and happy since my surgery on 8/25. I feel like I'm finally finding my way out of one of those labyrinth mazes (outdoor, made of tall hedges, or a corn maze) I stepped into the maze on the 25th, and have been stumbling around running into deadends, and cut offs, and switchbacks with how much to eat or drink, how much exercise, will this $%&*# period ever end, etc. Today I woke up and started my morning routine of Omeprazole and multivitamin, 3 oz of protein shake, and in a couple of hours, my calcium chew.
I feel like, except for my apparently never ending menstrual cycle of annoyance, life is finding an equilibrium. I can see a little further today! I wish you all a blessed day, and hope that you will find joy in whatever you choose to do!
Hugs,
BunneyGirl-----Genelle

Please pray for me. I started my two week pre op liquid diet today...yep, on Labor Day.I think my doctor has it out for me. LOL! Everyone around me are eating barbecue and licking their fingers. That's okay, I GOT THIS!!!!
-
YYou can do this!! Keep your eyes on the prize!! Nothing taste as good as losing your weight and being healthy. Also: KEEP ON KEEPING ON!!!

August 8th is surgery day, very excited!
-
Tomorrow's my surgery day. God, I hope I can eat the right way and permanently lose this weight.
-
This is day for post-op for me. I am still very nauseous. Just having to drink liquids is really hard. It is getting to where I want to throw up the protein drinks. Does anyone have any suggestions on liquids besides broth. All the normal things that you would eat or drink makes me want to throw up. I feel like I'm starving my body. My stomach is very swollen and it is painful to sit lay or stand.
-
Have you been up to walk? You might be full of gas. They use the gas during surgery so they can see everything better. I dn't have any suggestions of what to use besides the "NORMAL" stuff. Ask the DR or your nurses to see if they know of anything else that you can use. I'm sorry that you are having so many problems. Just know that it will get better!! Take care.

Repeatedly amazed by and so grateful for the sleeve! It's such a new sensation (or should I say one that I haven't had since I was a child) to stop eating when I'm not hungry anymore instead of when I'm full. I portioned out my 3 ounces of meat and 1 ounce of zucchini this morning after the gym. I had maybe 1 or 2 ounces of meat before deciding I'd had enough and packing the rest for later.

I am 4 years out and I am totally still sooo AMAZED at the small amount I can eat. I had the RNY and I can say one of the best things about my WLS is I still have no physical hunger at all! Now head hunger yeppers got it!! Sometimes it is such a challenge not to eat everything my mind says it wants and I need it too. Just so AMAZING!!!

Hi! My sleeve operation is due 8/9/17. I'm worried about the pre-op diet - even though I haven't yet been given any formal information on it. I know it's probably best to move to a liquid diet asap prior to op to try to limit the shock to the system! I'm hoping to start this the beginning of August so that I get a good 5 weeks in. Anyone else managed this?
-
I know that we are suppose to eat plain yogurt. How do you eat it? It's gross by itself. How do you make it more palatable?
-
Slowed down my exercise regimen. I'm planning on only going to the gym 3-4 days a week now instead of 7. Also, I started drinking gatorade during my workouts instead of water. I'm feeling great and have so much more energy now!
-
You sound like me!! After my RNY I was walking 7 days a week (this comes from a person who HATED exercise!! I got so badd that if something came up and I couldn't walk it drove me insane. I felt like a TOTALLY FAILURE!!! Guess what I still lost my weight and now I exercise 3 to 4 times a week. I walk 3 to 4 miles each time. I truely feel that my exercise is my saving grace!! Don't push yourself until you start to hate it because this is something that we have to do. Exercise is so important!!n Good Luck

Two days to go. After my previous postponement I'm nervous as all hell.
-
AND so goes your JOURNEY has began!!! You being nervous is totally normal!!! I wasn't one bit nervous until I got to the Hospital and they couldn't get my IV in. What a nightmare. I have since found that they can use a vein finder it is like a map of your veins. They use it for babies when they need to start a IV. Worked like a charm. So if you have veins that are hard to get just remember a VEIN FINDER!! Good Luck and keep us in the know and keep posting!!

I've been silent for a few days...I really don't want this to go any further than it has (this is far too stressful and not good for my HEALING AND HEALTH) ... however...This is a reminder of (below) the very first message Greensleevie sent me. I had never spoken to her before this... the tone in this message is angry...and calling someone IMMATURE is not an insult ? and name calling ??? (BULLY) . I never said I had anything figured out...but I do have a mind and I have done the research to make my own (with the help of the medical staff at the hospital) to make my own decisions. Just because she has crowned herself the queen of bariatric surgery..all hail the queen. No one else is allowed an opinion especially on there own recovery and outlook on health....very sad. Everyone is different and everyone recovers differently. Not to mention I had the bypass not the sleeve that alone will tell you the difference in outcomes.
I have actually been scolded by Alex Brecher ( founder ???) not to mention someone called Outsidematchinside ( another someone of royalty) ???
I thank all those who have supported and been kind to me ...however I am going to delete my account here with Bariatric Pal (the monarchy has put a bad taste in my mouth)
Oh does anyone know how to delete this account (I'm not very tech savvy) ...maybe Mr. Brecher can help me...???
DIRECT QUOTE :::****Yup. I remember thinking I had it all together, too. It's easy when you're not hungry and the weight is falling off effortlessly.
Glad you have this ALL figured out at a whole 2 months post op.
I never understood how people presume to know what the future holds when they have no idea what challenges lie ahead? How immature.
Are we saying you're absolutely going to be one of the almost 50% of people who are going to gain some or all of their weight back? No. We are saying to KEEP that from happening, you need to be aware of the pitfalls to PREVENT it from happening.
You no more know what's going happen 3 years down the road at 3 months post op as I do 6 years down the road at 3.5 years post op. You can at least admit that, right?*****END QUOTE:::

Hi YA, I didn't get in on any of this but...I have had the wrath of a few of the other members. It doesn't feel right to me. Yes we learn from each other and should always be kind and offer the upmost support!! But at the same time watch how we word things so noone gets their feelings trumply on!! The time I mentioned things did get a little out of hand. Over something that I will use now and beyond today!! So hold your head up and stay here with us. If things come up again you have every right to post your feelings and not get dragged down the rabbit hole. Sorry this happened to you. Keep on keeping on!!

Can anyone tell me what to buy to help pull in some of this loose skin about my stomach, it looks like I am carrying a sack of wheat under my clothes.
-
I have found a great one for holding itall in. It isn't cheap but I LOVE them. It is called SHAPEEZZ. com. They have short Tankee and Long Tankee. They work great, holds the TATA'S where they belong and the stomach gets held in great. Also I have loose skin under my arms and where my normal bra's fit. They hide the back fat arm fat and the tomach fat. My long Tankee is my favorite. I tried a few that I bought at Walmart and it was so uncomfortable that all I could tyhin of was getting home and getting it off. Good luck check them out.

Today I am patting myself on the back. I did my 1st full gym workout after being cleared last week. I was on the treadmill for 20 minutes. I alternated among running on 0 incline and walking on an incline. I haven't run on the treadmill for almost 10 years at this point. I even did weights afterward for a decent 40 minute workout. Just a proud day.

Had quite an interesting day yesterday. Besides my shoes rebelling and deciding to be too big, a lot of other things are now too big. I was aware that my underwear was getting a bit big for me, but just forgot to pick up new pairs. This finally bit me.
So yesterday, my underwear fell while i was at work. And not, slide down my butt slightly, but like full on dived for the floor falling. They wanted to be free and only my thunder thighs stopped their descent. Thankfully it was end of day and i was walking to my car at the time, so all I had to do was keep my thighs close to stop them from falling into view of the bottom of my dress until i got into my car. Which was interesting since it was not only storming ( so i was wrestling with an umbrella) but i was juggling a bunch of bulky bags too. And seeing as I park not only in full view of the building, but my boss's office as well, I couldn't reach and pull them up. -_-.

Last day of liquid diet. Still haven't felt this "state of well being" the paperwork talks about. I'm hungry.😭

Surgery in 2 Days (July 5th) nervous and excited, any last minute pearls of wisdom, or things I should pack in my hospital bag?
-
Well...I just got my first lesson on how this surgery is a tool, not a miracle. Went grocery shopping hungry, bought some "extras", came home and made some poor choices for the rest of the day. It is scary how quickly the calories added up, and how quickly my sleeve feels empty after eating. I ate a lot of food
I feel bad, but I'm gonna use this as a lesson. First off, it's not the end of the world. I'm 6 weeks out tomorrow, and this is the first time I've fallen off the wagon. That level of adherence to my diet was unheard of preop - I always broke within a week or two. Also, I went back and re-read my NUT materials. It's a good time for a refresher. I'm gonna learn what I can and just move on. Yesterday's poor decisions have no control over my choices today.
-
SURGERY DAY IS TOMORROW! I am nervous excited and all that jazz. I have been on my clear liquid diet as of yesterday, I started my pre op diet back on June 7th- have lost a good amount of weight. I go in at 6am tomorrow. I wonder if I will sleep any tonight....I sure do hope so.
-
I just finished my 5 month pics/measurements. I am only 6 pounds away from Onderland!! Hopefully I can hit that by the end of month 6. I can't really see a difference between these pics and last months, but, my measurements tell me I have lost 5" from my waist.
On a side note... I saw the doc for my GB results yesterday, I have stones and sludge, and a fatty liver. 😒 The best diet for a fatty liver is the keto diet, so this month I will be working towards eliminating sugar, white flour, and fried items from my diet.
