I find it odd that a doctor would set a specific weight goal. Everyone loses at their own pace. Don't let this discourage you.

Sorry to hear you're feeling that way. I, personally, have so much shame and guilt about my weight to work through that I would've been really upset. I would hope that the doc had some constructive and useful feedback regarding some adjustments you might look into. Losing 23 lbs in 2 months is still pretty darn good!

I stopped weighing myself. It was rough. I want to weigh myself periodically now but I made a promise to myself not to do it and to only get weighed monthly at my follow up appointments. My fiancé took the scale away and everything. I was discouraging myself since the beginning (I'm about a month out) and I wasn't happy. I took the scale away, I'm following the plan, my dog hasn't been on better shape in his whole life because we're constantly walking, and I can feel the difference in my body, regardless of knowing my weight!
My engagement ring almost had to be sized again even though it's hot and humid!
So, seriously, stop weighing yourself. It's liberating.
    Good luck everyone.

Today I stepped on the scale and am 2 pounds down from yesterday. My BMI is now 39.6, which means I am no longer morbidly obese! (Extremely obese doesn't really sound that much better, but I'll take it! Lol!).
To think, I was 52lbs over the "morbidly obese" line, and I really didn't have a CLUE that I was THAT big, and in that much danger for my health!

Hey all!! Sleeved 1/30 and doing pretty well. Feel fortunate I haven't had any stalls yet. I lose each week sometimes only 2lbs but I've lost up to 5 in a week. I'm female 5' 5" and my goal weight is 145lbs.
    SW: 315
    Current: 248
    Total lost: 67lbs!!
Hit my 3 month goal of 250. Next goal is to be under 220 which I haven't seen in over 10 years...then I'm full steam ahead to onederland!!

I'm 5 1/2 months post op. I use to complain about walking. Now if someone asks let's walk then I say let's go.

Got some great news from the scale this morning, I'm officially down 100.4 pounds from my starting weight of 314.6 on 12/7/16. That was the date I started my pre-surgery diet, and my surgery date was 12/21/16. I never dreamed it would work out so well. So close to my ultimate goal, but this was an unofficial goal for two reasons. First, 100 pounds just sounds nice Second, when I did Weight Watchers about 10 years ago, the lowest I ever got was 214, so I wanted to get there again. Before that, I can't even remember the last time I was so low, maybe 25 years ago. Anyway, just wanted to share!

Today was my vertical sleeve gastrectomy surgery. I have been out of the OR .for about 8 hours and doing remarkably well.

I am on a morphine PCA so my pain right now is at a zero, and well controlled. Not looking forward to having that discontinued in the morning and switching to oral meds but I know that's the next step. Still NPO except for mouth swabs no drinking or eating of any kind at this point.

Surgery was unremarkable with a good outcome no problems.

Anesthesia was a little rough coming out of as I was very very groggy and just wanted to keep sleeping. But after about two hours I finally was able to focus and carry on conversations.

I am now an official sleeve patient starting the next chapter of this journey!

I just got back from a week away on vacation, my first vacation since having the VSG. We stayed at a beautiful all-inclusive resort in the Dominican Republic. And like being on a cruise, we were always surrounded by free food and drink.
There's a lot I didn't do "right". I never made it to the gym (though I did swim every day and went kayaking once). I did indulge in alcohol, though never to a sloppy excess. And I did visit the dessert buffet on more than one occasion. But I also made an effort to emphasize Protein, and stop when full, and separate eating and drinking. I was constantly struck by how little I eat now -- just a few bites and I was full. I found myself rearranging the food on my plate to make it look like I'd eaten more than I had. Honestly, there was a little regret that I couldn't "enjoy" the meal like I used to: 2-4 courses with 2-4 drinks. Instead it was a taste of this and that and a sip of wine at the end. But beyond that disappointment there was amazement that I could now just walk away from the food still on my plate, that I could skip dessert or an appetizer and not really care. I even dropped a pound or two while I was away.
For example, I knew that if I had something like french toast I wouldn't have room for any protein, so I didn't bother with the french toast or at least with no more than a small bite. And after all the dire warnings it was somewhat comforting to find that neither my susceptibility or hankering for alcohol had increased noticeably. But best of all I felt so much less self-conscious poolside. I've passed my half-way point with "just" 40-50 lbs to go, and I'm rediscovering favorite old clothes I'd put away.
