Thanks ice is what I am using, the doctor said I had a large hematoma which would be blood loss wether that or the fact my blood pressure dropped that made me dizzy. The dizziness has past thankfully. I just feel drained I know it will get better but yikes!! I am looking forward to full liquid lol

Hi, I am 67, just got my date for sleeve June 22!! So excited yet nervous. I have heard people my age have great results.

I am 52, my blood sugar was out of control & putting me on insulin actually made it worse. I had 3 of my doctors recommend the sleeve to help my diabetes and I had my VSG 1 month ago. I have only taken insulin 6-7 times since surgery and my fasting blood sugar this morning was 91. Before surgery my waking blood sugar was usually 225-250. I am still taking metformin but am so happy that I do not have inject insulin before every meal. I only have to test once a day at varying times. I have not had neuropathy pain in my feet/legs since & I think I may be getting feeling back in my fingers too. This has been a godsend for my health & the weight loss a huge bonus too.

kimmlu - Thank you. I had a really hard time trying to get all my fluids in a few weeks ago, but now, I find that I can drink crystal light without it tasting too sweet and I can drink it much faster that I could then.

Extremely good thoughts in your reply, thank you. What will I be like in 10 years w/out the sleeve? Good point. I'll be overweight, obese, hurting and like you said possibly heart disease/diabetes. I appreciate that your reply made me think. Thank you!

Wow! I go away for a while and 16 pages in this thread! Had my sleeve in 2012, still doing well. Living in Zephyrhills now.
I've gained at times and lost at times but still staying over 100 pounds lost off of my original weight. I have found that my level of activity has a lot to do with my weight.

I'm in Brandon, Fl and was sleeved in Tampa in 2014. I'm very happy with my results. I,m still not down to my personal goal, but I reached my surgeon's goal for me. I'm still overweight, but no longer morbidly obese.

My husband has been cooking for himself since I started this. Sometimes the food just smells so good I need nose clamps. It is tough just hang on we can do it!!

Have been reading things on this site like a crazy person, and yes, have learned a lot. I'm at the very beginning of this process and don't have a surgery date yet, but I'm hoping to have that narrowed down, at least, in a couple of weeks at my next appointment with the surgeon. I'm in upstate NY and have found the program I'm in extremely thorough--lots of nutrition counseling is required, as well as support group attendance and surgical clearance from a number of different specialists.

I've just been looking at my pre-surgery diet, which includes Protein Shakes twice a day but a real meal at dinner. One question I have--what can I put on steamed veggies to enhance the flavor? I'm pretty sure a big pat of butter is out . . . but beyond lemon or lime juice, any suggestions?

A lil olive oil, sea salt on asparagus. Celery seed/salt on green Beans Garlic, onion powder on anything.
Stir fry some pea pods, carrots, red onion, add some ginger, garlic and a pinch of cayenne.

Count net carbs, subtracting the Fiber. You will find you have a lot more carbs to work with than you think.

I know what you mean.... I had to go grocery shopping today, and not just for myself. It sucks when you're the only one in the house that's on a strict diet. But like you said, we can do this

So far it is ok drinking a lot of Water and sugar free Jello I feel full, but there are some egg rolls in the freezer calling my name lol I told my hubby to please eat them. I would say day one has been a success good luck everyone we can do it....

Ten days prior to surgery, I will only be able to have 3 shakes a day and Clear Liquids. That's why I guess I was kind of freaking a little today. I mean, this is just day one of the low carb diet, so overall, I have done well today. I guess I just didn't realize how just about everything has carbs in it! I kind of tripped out when I saw that even my Vitamins have carbs! Lol!

My plan only allows 30grams of carbs a day; it was not a liquid diet though. It's doable!! I'm also a type 2 diabetic and I thought it would be rough but I was ok on Day 2. Good Luck!

I am on my first day of my liver shrink diet. The Doctor provided Optifast shakes and I have Five a day they each have 20 carbs that's 100 a day. Really strange how doctors differ on this diet..
