The easy way. Honesty. I don’t care about the feelings of the waiter or chef. I just say I had stomach surgery and I can only eat a tiny amount. If I loved the food I effusively compliment. If I am going home, I will take the rest home. If I am not, I will say that I’m not headed home, and due to surgery that is the amount I eat. With a big smile. I tip well. If they don’t like the amount I eat, I can’t sum up any caring. There is so much to care about in this world. I can’t be bothered with a waitress disappointed with how much I’ve put in my mouth.
And at our fave Mexican restaurant they will make a little plate of refried Beans, topped with lots of cheese and jalapeños, and charge me very little for it. Sometimes nothing, if my son orders a plate and asks for no rice and beans. Then they will just give me the beans and cheese as his sides.
its ok to just let the server know that is all you CAN eat. It’s your stomach. I want to feel good after, not sick.

I had a stall at 3 weeks too. My weight loss has been mostly slow and steady; although there was one week where I lost 9 lbs. I have been hoping that will happen again.
What you are experiencing is normal. It’s easy to become frustrated and disappointed. I’ve been there too. As you follow the plan you’ll lose weight again and you may stall again. It’s all part of the process.
You’ll be okay. You will get past this stall and you’ll lose weight. Hang in there. This too shall pass. 🦋

The tone of the OP post while a mean girls type of funny, was by no means bullying or discriminatory, you gotta be into to it not to get offended, if offended report it.
    The. End.

    Thank you for clarifying! ((hugs))

    Here's a rant:
You know what I don't like? Country music. So when I stumble into a local bar called "Cowboy Saloon" and there's a room called "This Room Is All Basically Country Music At High Volume" and they are, in fact, playing country music, you know what I do? I leave. I leave as voluntarily as I came in.
You know what I don't do? I don't walk around the bar full of people enjoying country music telling them that it's soulless and cliche and isn't what I like to hear and offends my ears and I demand they stop.
I just leave. I don't make some big scene and scream "Country music is the worst and I am leaving!" I just... you know, take off, and find a bar playing jazz music. Or sit in my car and listen to NPR.

What I love is that I could replace screen names with other forums I belong to and this is the way all these threads go. Somebody tries to vent, somebody gets offended, the self righteous police come in, then comes the "let this topic die already!" post that keeps bumping the post...lol. People take things waaaaaaaay too seriously on the intrawebz. If you can't have a manage a laugh then so be it. The block user feature is on the board for a reason. Don't like somebody then block them and ignore them. Problem solved.

    Two funny things.
One...if you click on the link to the rules...it's broken and doesn't exist.
Two....I'm not ranting about ANY SPECIFIC MEMBER. This rant is about patterns of behavior, gross generalizations, and comical stereotypes....that this place is ripe with.
Also...please note the description of the Rants and Raves board:
"Want debate? Get it here. Gripe, complain, moan, fight, rant and rave. Enter at your own risk!"

I swear this morning on my FB surgery group someone posted "I've only lost 50 lbs in 5 months, what am I doing wrong??" YOU LOST FIFTY POUNDS IN FIVE MONTHS. YOU LOST THE EQUIVALENT OF A BAG OF DOG food AND A FOUR YEAR OLD HONEY BOO-BOO. WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU IS BASICALLY ACTUAL SORCERY, SO SERIOUSLY, SHUT. UP.

Hmm. To me it definitely comes off as bragging about the rules not applying to him. The title literally says, "I'm doing everything wrong... and shrinking." The implication there is he's still losing weight despite not following any of the guidelines and has "no regrets" according to his OP. So yeah, I don't think we're just being too sensitive by taking what he's said at face value. Giving the middle finger to the surgeon's rules is not only stupid but dangerous. And Raffi has been loving the attention his post has gotten. "Badge of honor," and all that. So I'm really not interested in finding ways to excuse it as him framing his post in a way he didn't intend.
Personally I'm having surgery to lose my excess weight and permanently maintain that by completely overhauling the lifestyle that has been making me sick and fat. But that's just me.

Little Green got a reaction from MzNatalia in I'm still not sure. What got you past that unsure feeling? Help!
No, you're definitely not! As you have gained weight your body chemistry has changed and many factors are in play in your body that are designed to keep you overweight. It's crazy how different our bodies are, metabolically, compared to normal weight individuals. The surgery resets us metabolically. (Some studies have shown improved metabolic markers after surgery even for people who don't lose very much weight!) And the junk food we all eat (ate!) was literally engineered using top-secret additives and ingredients to increase pleasure, influence your neural pathways, and keep your hand moving to your mouth. Get angry at the food industry and use that anger to rebel against it by eating whole, nutritious foods instead. Surgery will make that much easier.
I use the analogy of climbing a mountain. When we're obese it's like we are climbing it with a gigantic boulder on our backs, weighing us down and preventing us from going very far. Some tiny subset of people are so strong they are able to make it to the top, but most of us never will. Surgery takes the boulder off. We still have to do the climb ourselves - there's no chair lift to the top - but it gives us the opportunity to actually be successful.

No. Whole fruit consumption promotes weight reduction. (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5084020/) So stick to smoothies (as opposed to, say, juicing) and having fruit as a snack, and you'll be just fine!

I read this posted by someone else on the site once and its really stuck with me: Surgery IS NOT the easy way out, but let's say it was. Why is that a bad thing? Why wouldn't he want an easy solution for your problem. Why is easy inherently evil in this situation?
Can you imagine if someone said that about cancer?
"You have cancer, but it's easily treated."
"Yeah, no thanks. I don't want to take the easy way out."

Congrats. You gotta do you. But hate to break it to you girlfriend, the chicken would be considered chopped fine, perhaps soft mechanical, but it def isn't pureed. Pureed would be to add a bit of gravy or broth and wazz it until it looks like smooth pate or baby food. Make sure to chew the crap out of it!!

Okay all, I thought I would follow up on this. Over the last couple of weeks I have been wearing more revealing clothing - arms showing, knees showing, etc. I never said anything, but as Berry78 said, it was obvious with the shorter my arm sleeves and shorter skirts . It ended up that I could have had two heads, it wouldn't have mattered!!! All is good in paradise. Thanks for everyone's input.

My preop calories were to be under 800 a day. I chose low fat low carb Protein Shakes like phd diet whey, Isopure, precision and even slimfast if out and about. If you're in the USA, I hear premiere Protein being discussed a lot. They don't seem to sell it in the UK. If your plan says liquids only then that's exactly what it means. No sugar free pudding etc. If you don't stick to it you could jeopardise your surgery so do it to the letter. Phone your surgeon if in any doubt about anything as this is definitely something you need to get right.xx
