combrat got a reaction from MochaKelly in 100 lb weight loss through BariatricPal Hospital MX
You look great but what is a mini gastric bypass?
-
combrat reacted to monica8773 in Your weight loss progression vs others looking for similars stories
For those that have had gastric bypass, what did your weight loss look like? Did you lose steady and gradually? Did you lose a lot then plateau? I was 222 the day before I began my liquid diet. I was 217 the morning of my surgery. It has been about one month. I’m currently at 196. I wanted to know if this is normal or truly what others experiences were/are like.
And forgive my signature. I can’t figure out how to get back to it to update it!

combrat reacted to sammy246 in When did everyone begin increasing their calories?
Almost 3 months post-op and hover around 600-700 per day. I don't want to stall out or ruin my metabolism going too low for too long!

combrat got a reaction from jhope71 in I'm an emotional wreck!!! Tell me when this lets up!!
I am really struggling as well. However I am reminded that the Lord is sitting on my rightwaiting to take my frustration away. We do spend time together at night. I try to look for what we get to eat and ask the Lord to give me zeal so that I don't grumble.

combrat reacted to gabdizzle in 2.5 months post op 40lbs down
Hello everyone,
I wanted to ask everyone what their experience has been with weight loss after surgery. I had a rocky start post op and was unable to get food down which landed me in the ER. The first month I lost 24lbs now im averaging about 10 lbs a month. I stall for 2-3 weeks at a time before the scale moves again. I've been reading about people's progress which makes mines not seem so great. I am watching what I eat and am active. I was 284 and now 240.

combrat reacted to catwoman7 in Bypass order Sleeve
RNY = Roux-en-Y It's just another name for the bypass. Just like VSG is another name for the sleeve

combrat reacted to catwoman7 in Bypass order Sleeve
btw - the vast majority of RNY'ers who develop Vitamin deficiencies don't keep on top of their Vitamins (or don't take them at all). If you're good about taking your vitamins every day, your chances of developing deficiencies are pretty small.

I had GERD, so it was a no-brainer for me: bypass

combrat reacted to blondie66 in Goal Weight?
I was also told that getting to a healthy bmi was unlikely. But I did reach and am maintaining but I have to diet and exercise to reach and maintain it I can't rely on surgery. Also, my stretched out skin adds extra weight that I won't lose under I have skin surgery....it's flabby wrinkled skin which can't be dieted off but probably is about 5 extra pounds. If you want to reach a healthy bmi go for it and do it for you! The drs just want to keep our expectations realistic and they're thinking what is the expected weight loss from surgery they don't include what we are willing to do with diet and exercise to get the remaining pounds off.

I'm with you too. I've got an occasional sharp pain in the same place. And pain/uncomfortableness when I try to lay on my side. Had my surgery 4/21

Oh no! I'm sorry to hear that! My only issue was having a hiatal hernia, which my surgeon repaired during my RNY. I've never heard of your condition before. I'm assuming because your surgery is still a go, they can either work around it or maybe even try to repair it. Wishing you the best of luck! [emoji4]

combrat reacted to travelergirl in Need to lose 50lbs to have surgery PLS HLP!!!
I would suggest looking at the post op diets. My doctor's plan is about 1200 to 1500 calories with Protein first then non starchy veggies (fruit is only after veggies if you are still hungry). You want to make sure you are taking the Vitamins. If you are working out at the gym then protein is necessary to make sure you keep your muscle. Eat protein within 30 minutes of finishing your workout. My trainer told me to either have a Protein Shake with amino acids or eat meat as it is already a complete protein with the amino acids after the workout. I started at 377 and my goal was 120 grams of protein a day. I find that i get 20 to 30 grams of protein per "meal" so that means i actually eat about four times per day. So that may give you a guide. The key for me is to make my own food and to avoid eating out.

combrat reacted to ivanie0825 in Surgery Date: April 17th. Would anyone like to be my surgery buddy?
Hi ladies,
I just had my surgery on Tuesday, March 28th. All went perfectly well. I am now home recovering. You guys will be just fine. Just make sure you follow all of your doctors orders and take your 2 weeks liquid diet very seriously because you do not want to risk damaging your liver or your doctor cancelling your surgery. Many blessings to you all. It's a TOUGH journey, but it will all be worth it.

I was required to do a 6 month program period before I was eligible for surgery. I got my A1c done at the beginning of that 6 months and it was high: 14.1! I was told it had to be below 10 by the end of my 6 months and it was.
