Anyone out there who is diabetic before surgery and A1C was high and still had surgery or did the doctor require you to wait 3 months and get tested again to make your A1C lower?

I was required to do a 6 month program period before I was eligible for surgery. I got my A1c done at the beginning of that 6 months and it was high: 14.1! I was told it had to be below 10 by the end of my 6 months and it was.

My doctor told me he wanted my A1C below 8. I am having my labs done in two weeks keep your fingers crossed!
