I found a better way and MUCH less expensive way...make your own. Google chicken crust pizza. Basically take ground chicken, season, flatten onto 6" pizza round or pan, pre bake, then add your toppings!

My wife tried it this weekend to get used to this type of cooking, she used fat free bacon and ranch dressing (low cal & sugar, no carbs), grilled chicken, garlic and bacon bits, then low fat mozzarella cheese. She couldn't stop raving! Gonna try marinara, mushroom, onion, spinach and mozzarella next time.

I think I'll start a posting for recipe ideas!

It's so normal to be anxious...most of us have lived our entire lives as heavy people and can't imagine being any other way. The surgery itself can be scary and the liquid phases aren't much fun. But, let me tell you from my experience, waiting the 6 months for inaurance and then having a few complications in the beginning...I would go through that again to be where I am today! I am 5 months out (already!!) and am down 75 lbs! I have a ton of energy, eat to live and enjoy my small pant size! Don't let the anxiety get to you too much...it will pass...just go day by day.

Can you share a bit more about how they are not supporting? I know you said they are try to force you to eat things you shouldn't (that's your decision ultimately) , but what is their reasoning? They just may be worried more about risks than rewards.

When I first started my journey, none of my mamilla, friends even co workers were happy about it. They all gave the reason, "it's too drastic, it's too dangerous, you can do it by exercising more and just don't eat so much ( brilliant! Like I never thought or tried that.

I'm gonna be 50 soon, have struggled for years with my weight, lose 10 gain 15-20. High blood pressure, cholesterol, smoker, Apnia and diabetes. So I started to rebuke their claims by pointing out if I didn't do something I would probably be dead in a few years anyway, this was not an easy decision but it was mine to make not theirs.

Over the past year, going through the process, I am now smoke free, and 50 lbs. already, told I will probably be off my cholesterol, blood pressure and insulin later this year, as well as the CPP! It was not overnight, and through the process they saw my commitment to the lifestyle change for the better and slowly turned their negativity to now being my biggest supporters.

Captain, you know that was not a good decision, so don't dwell on it, instead let it be an opportunity to have you refocus on the process. Remember, surgery is not meant to be a miracle cure, but rather is a tool to help you change your lifestyle. All the preparing has brought you to this point, but the journey continues.

Over the next year, you should be concentrated in maintaining and creating healthy eating habits. Find alternative healthy solutions and start with those.

Have a discussion about this with your Nut and Psych as well as your doc. You may also see if there are any sleeve support groups in your area.

    You can do this!

Sometimes you have to sit and ask yourself what is more important my health or that cigarette. I was told I had high blood pressure and was diagnosed with sleep apnea. I smoked for over 20 yrs. When I started having health problems I quit cold turkey and did not hesitate to take charge of my health and now I'm having my surgery. Feb 2 made 2 years without smoking and I do not miss it.

    You can do this...
    Good luck

Get rid of the chocolates! All of the work, changes and sacrifices you have made, yet you don't want to hurt his feelings! I think you need to asses your priorities. YOU SHOULD COME FIRST! Though he may not have all the "details" of your surgery, is he that ignorant not to hear your comments and requests before hand? And when asked to say it was stupid; No, he he was stupid!

Let him see you trashing them, it will show that you mean what you say. If he has a problem with it, that's his problem to deal with.

Everyone will be different. You need to go by what your body tells you. You will know when enough is enough. Take multiple short walks if you want or can tolerate.

You darling have to put yourself first and you are the one that went through surgery and it's your responsibility to be selfish now and make sure your new self is respected, don't feel bad and take them into work or to friends and just say to him that it would take you ages to get through them as they make you sick unfortunately! Next time a card and a cuddle will be a wonderful gift, and say if you continue to bring me chocolates I have no choice but to give them away, I would remind him everyday once a day that you cannot eat chocolates till he gets sick of hear it, it's your health don't accept that behaviour.
    Hugs

A- Give them away, take them to work, ask him if he wants them back, but get them away from you. Who gives a rat's patoot if he sees you??
B- Give some hard thought to why you feel bad giving away something you explicitly told him you can't have because it makes you sick. That is the behavior of a people pleaser who wants to please others at the expense of herself.

I'd either give them away or just put them in a drawer somewhere and forget about them. And, more importantly, I would have a serious conversation with your boyfriend about your surgery, how you eat, and all of the assorted extraneous details. If he is a serious part of your life, he should know everything about your journey; otherwise, it isn't completely fair to hold him accountable for being sensitive and informed. (That being said, he should have known better in this case...)
    Good luck!

sleevinpops reacted to Greensleevie in How easily can your stomach stretch??
It's normal and completely natural for us to be able to eat more as the sleeve heals and the swelling goes down. It has absolutely nothing to do with stretching. At 3 year out, I can now eat a cup of food depending on what it is, and my surgeon says that's completely normal.
Because capacity increases with time, over reliance on the tool itself is not recommended. A complete change of habits is. That will be what gets you to goal and keeps you there, not how much you can eat.
I suggest you watch Dr Matthew Weiners videos on YouTube about WLS myths. Stretching is one he talks about.

This is my mindset right now
This mindset will keep me strong....
Just wanted to share to all--
    Accept:
The fact that the Pre-op diet is whatever the nutritionist and doctor guidelines requires and to respect it.
    Accept:
The fact that the Pre-op diet may be hard for you but the need for you to be successful is up to you.
    Accept:
The fact that the Post-op diet may be hard for you just like the Pre-op diet. Endure it.
    Accept:
The fact that you and your body may need more time before transition to soft foods and the same may be for solid foods.
    Accept:
The fact that weight loss may be slower for you than others.
    Accept:
The fact that success should be measured in accomplishments. Whether your pace is fast or slow.
    Accept:
The fact that the steps you take forward no matter how big or small no matter how long it took you will bring you success. Stay Strong

I was sleeved January 25th... from that evening on, I walked as much as I could every chance I got... and then I would rest and when I felt rested I'd get up and walk again.
Now, I am 3 weeks post surgery and I walk a minimum of 10,000 steps (about 5 miles) a day. I'm not yet cleared for any other exercise yet, so I feel like I should walk as much as I can since it is the only exercise I can have for now!
