I found a low carb, sugar free BBQ Sauce (dg Hughes) and put it in a crockpot all day with chicken breast. By the end of the day it was soooo soft. Put in the processor to purée. Was delicious, high Protein, low carb and filling.

You shouldn't be concerned as you are still healing and your body needs to catch up. Make sure to follow your nutritionists recommendations and also try tracking your macro nutrients to keep within the plan. Remember, it's a marathon not a sprint. You got this!

This is probably the most difficult to do. I have had (regrettably) been sick twice from eating too fast. While it was not pleasant, it did help me focus on slowing down. Kimberly is right, just put down the utensils in between, and you may focus more on what's in your mouth than the next bite.

Try putting down your eating utensil down between bites. This has helped me. It makes me more aware of how I am eating.

It is so nice to see someone really committing to the life post-op instead of eating trash and posting about it to get the thumbs up. Ditto what Big Viffer said.
I mainly just come here as a reminder of what not to do. If you are actually doing the right thing around here you basically get zero support.

The scale is your friend. I have been weighing all my food for almost 2 years, I still can't eye ball it accurately.

Volume is always going to be inferior to weight. I wish more people here would weigh their food. They claim they are eating X, but they aren't tracking and they aren't weight so they have no idea. I even weigh my prepackaged food because the weights vary on those.

This blog post sums it up pretty well why weighing is superior. http://christyshawfitness.com/2017/02/why-i-prefer-a-scale-to-measuring-cups/

I am 8 weeks Post Op and it is Abundantly clear that from now on I need to Live my Life 4oz's at a time. I don't have a Calibrated eye so my guessing on the weight of a meal doesn't work for me. It's for that reason that I have multiple digital scales at Home, Work and on the Go. I follow a Keto Macros style diet and with that I find my sweet spot to be 4oz, I know I could push it to 6 or even 8 and still get a good loss but 8 would turn to 16 and then 24. Right now I am obeying all the Posted signs of my Nutrition Highway, any other way has always ended in a crash and burn on my behalf. I stay plugged in to this and other forum as a constant reminder of the Success and constant problems myself and others face. I constantly have to remind myself of the rules of nutrition and that as long as I make them important and continue them i will have ongoing success.

Guy, what is your diet like now? Are you tracking your food intake with an app like myfitnesspal? Curious to hear your nutrient macros. Also, are you walking, working out or performing exercise to keep you moving?

In addition to tracking your calories, you may want to also track your macro nutrients. Rather than focusing on a number, look at the %of Protein, fats and carbs to the calories intake.. I am set to 60% protein, 30% fat, 10% carbs. You definitely need to be doing cardio too. Walk, treadmill...shoot for 5,000-10,000 steps per day. Burn more calories than consuming, but make sure to get your target calories in

Nc, focus on the % of nutrients to total calories. If you are increasing calories burned through walking, you are burning other nuts too. Use an app like myfitnesspal to log your meals and set your nut %'s. Your doctor can advise these targets, but for example mine are 60% Protein, 30% fat (good fats), and 10% carbs. I burn about 1200 additional calories from walking but the app takes this into consideration. Don't focus on the grams but stay in the range of your target % intake.

Hi fellow February sleevers! I'm 6weeks out and feeling great! I weighed in this morning at 200 even, down 33 pounds since surgery!

Eating is going ok, can keep foods down, but still need to focus on slowing down. Doing a ton of walking, about 10,000-15,000 steps per day, doing daily Fitbit challenges with other Bari patients I met here.

Looking forward to being cleared to resume regular exercising around the 28th.

Sleevey, it will get better soon, this is the worst part. Walking and Water is the best. Before you know it the gas will pass and you'll be dropping! Hang in there, you got this!

Remember, the calories are only one part of weight loss. Make sure your getting the right mix of nutrients (protein, healthy fats, carbs). You also should be active with exercise, walking, running, swimming, weights or power bands. This helps keep your body burning the fuel.
I was in a 2 week stall and after checking my nutrients, found I wasn't getting enough calories. Was burning over 700 additional from excercize. After adjusting, the weight is falling again.
