Kaylamh got a reaction from tlewis2005 in Sugar
I didn't have any sugar cravings after surgery until I ate it. I've been having a hard time the past few days with carbs and sugar. I know that I need to cut it out entirely now, but I've also proven to myself that it's sooooo not worth it! I eat it, and it's just not as good as I remember it being.

I'm really open with people about my surgery. I don't think it's fair for people to think I'm dropping weight this fast because I'm eating right and exercising. I know that when I was bigger, and people told me that, I always wondered why it never worked for me and got discouraged. I try to use my surgery as a way to build people up, ya know?
I definitely understand keeping it private though. I don't post about it on Facebook, or at least I haven't yet, but when people ask I tell them.

I just had a four ounce filet cooked medium rare, courtesy of yours truly! It took 2 sessions to finish, but it was delicious. No problems! It honestly goes down more easily than chicken.

It's totally normal, along with bad breath. It has to do with the Protein in your diet. There are pills you can take to help with smelly gas, but I mostly just use poopouri and it does the trick

I'm still cutting caffeine a bit, but at 4 weeks out, I've started introducing it. My go to drink is a half-caf grande Starbucks double shot on ice with heavy cream and sugar free vanilla. It gives me the SUPER strong coffee flavor I'm looking for without all of the caffeine.

Kaylamh got a reaction from bacon in I wanna know about carbs... Seriously!
I think when a lot of people refer to "carbs" they're talking about simple carbs. bread, Pasta, rice etc. Those are the ones that we can definitely live without. Complex carbs are more important, and these come from vegetables and actually provide longer last fuel then simple carbs. The same can be said for brown rice over white, and whole grain bread over white bread.

Soft foods has been fun. I eat eggs with cheese, shrimp, lean ground beef with Tomato sauce, tuna sashimi, lots of black Beans etc. Your options are wide open! Just be sure to try one food at a time and see how you tolerate it.
I did deli meat too. Turkey with a tiny bit of mustard rolled up was really good.

Kaylamh got a reaction from janedoe92 in My doctor wants me to have this done-->help...questions
I had a full DS and it took two hours. I've lost almost forty pounds in a month, and I'm in my soft food phase able to eat pretty well. I chose the DS because of the long term (10 year) stats, and the ability to eat more "normal" sized portions farther out from surgery. I'm still in college, and I wanted to be sure (or as sure as one can be) that I would be able to keep the weight off. It seemed to be the most effective tool for me. I know people say it's "extreme" but the long term results were important to me.

Kaylamh got a reaction from ProudGrammy in Can I see a menu please?
I usually do a premier Protein shake for Breakfast, some deli meat (shaved) or shrimp or a baked chicken thigh, and for dinner I will either do more shrimp, or shredded chicken breast with some sauce and a little bit of riced cauliflower.
I try to vary my meals, and when I eat out (I'm in college so that's decently often) I split meals into two or three. In between meals I snack on mozzarella cheese pearls (5g of Protein per oz) and sip on Syntrax nectar. (23 G protein.) the nectar is good because it counts for my Clear liquids as well.
