@@nolaguy I've definitely noticed a change. Less cushion in the bottom=deeper penetration. Make sure you're not hitting her cervix! We've had to make a few adjustments because of that.

Kaylamh got a reaction from NJ2004BPD/DS in Vitamins - how much exactly
It depends on your surgery. I take

    500mg Calcium 4x a day
A Multi ADEK 3x a day (I use Celebrate brand in berry sorbet)
1000mcg of B12 (or one Bariatric Advantage speedy melt) once a day
29mg of Iron 1x a day (chewable bariatric fusion)
And 5000 IU of Vitamin D once a day.

I had the DS which is much more vitamin heavy than any other surgery.

I'm still going to have to ask my doctor about the bariatric fusion Vitamins. There's no recommendation on their site for DS, but for the other surgeries is seems like a good option!

@ChaosUnlimited just do it. You'll thank yourself later when you don't regain every pound like many many sleeve patients do. The malabsorption helps make up for our "human" moments when we just don't make the best decisions.

I'm really open with people about my surgery. I don't think it's fair for people to think I'm dropping weight this fast because I'm eating right and exercising. I know that when I was bigger, and people told me that, I always wondered why it never worked for me and got discouraged. I try to use my surgery as a way to build people up, ya know?
I definitely understand keeping it private though. I don't post about it on Facebook, or at least I haven't yet, but when people ask I tell them.

Kaylamh got a reaction from Strivingforbetter in Had Sleeve 3 yrs ago and now being offered DS - What to do?
In my opinion, the DS is the best surgery out there. I had mine a few weeks ago, and I already couldn't be happier. I feel great, I'm lighter on my feet, and I've already lost 25 pounds. It could really be a game changer if the sleeve isn't working for you. The sleeve typically has a lower success rate and a really high weight regain rate. The switch does not.

I had a full DS and it took two hours. I've lost almost forty pounds in a month, and I'm in my soft food phase able to eat pretty well. I chose the DS because of the long term (10 year) stats, and the ability to eat more "normal" sized portions farther out from surgery. I'm still in college, and I wanted to be sure (or as sure as one can be) that I would be able to keep the weight off. It seemed to be the most effective tool for me. I know people say it's "extreme" but the long term results were important to me.

@summerset no, it's not impossible, but it's definitely less likely, especially if you stick close to plan. I'm just basing that info on what my surgeon told me. He recommended it for me because of the long term stats associated with it.

I shop almost exclusively at old navy tbh haha. I really like Maurice's, and I can't wait to shop at places like New York and Company and random boutique shops.

I still have a hard time believing I can wear a size Large.

The Vitamin kit I got was 125 for 3 month supply! Some have to be replaced periodically, but it's worth it for what you'll save in food
I wish I had really known how much better I would feel after even 40 pounds of weight loss.
The DS has its quirks (lots of burping for me) but it's so worth it!

@kkami12 I've never heard of that. DS patients have to take more Vitamins than any of the other surgeries, including 1000mg of Calcium 4-5 times a day, along with a multi ADEK 3 times a day, a B12 an Iron and a Vitamin D

Kaylamh got a reaction from DeeM in What little changes do you notice?
Being able to shop at non-plus sized stores, and not having to wear the biggest size.

    Running!

Not being the biggest person in the room all the time.

Finding old clothes in my attic that finally fit.

Being able to give away most of my clothes.

Feeling my ribs and hip bones.

    Just to name a few!

I've never heard of a DS called a "sleeve plus" but I guess that's exactly what it is. The main issue with the DS is the fat malabsorption. Too much fat in diet = diarrhea. Pros vastly outweigh the cons in my case. I've lost 50 pounds in the first 2 months.

I really love Torrid's sports bras, but they're pretty dang expensive. I get a lot of my active wear at old navy, and Walmart. Danskin brand at Walmart is surprisingly good.

@MowryRocks DSers take more Vitamins than those with the sleeve.

I'll have to look in to bariatric fusion!
