360lyMe got a reaction from teacupnosaucer in March sleevers hows everyone doing??
I was sleeved on 3/1. I've lost 30 lbs since surgery plus the 15 I lost during the 2 week pre-op diet, so 45 total. Strangely enough, I can eat everything I've tried, except chicken and eggs. I've not had any problems getting my Protein or fluids in at all. I workout doing cardio and strength training 5-6 days a week. I've had several stalls, but seem to lose inches during my stalls.

I think we get caught up in comparing ourselves to others and become disappointed in what we see as "slow progress", without considering the differences in our starting stats and programs. If we are not where we were before that initial consultation, we all should be damn proud of even the slightest progress.

Make sure you are sipping at least for the first week. Drinking room temperature Water helped me. The burping is very common. I would have long burping spells for the first two weeks, but I was home and really didn't care, as long as it brought relief.

There are many sources of Protein that are cheap, healthy and quick to prepare:
    1. eggs ($0.53 per dozen at Aldi); you can scramble them, hard-boil them, fry them, top them with melted cheese, or salsa, or Tabasco sauce, or salt & pepper, or fresh veggies such as sauteed bell peppers and chopped tomatoes, or other protein sources such as chopped ham.
    2. Tilapia ($5.49 per 32-ounce bag at Aldi); one fillet has 100 calories and 20 grams of protein. Look up recipes for blackened Tilapia. Serve this fish with steamed veggies for a filling meal.
    3. Cottage cheese ($1.99 per 24-ounce tub at Aldi); 4 ounces of low-fat cottage cheese has 80 calories and 12 grams of protein. Serve it with a baked apple topped with cinnamon or a fresh fruit of your choice.
    4. chicken leg quarters ($6.80 per 10-pound bag at Walmart); divide the leg quarters by cutting them into their separate thigh and drumstick components. Each bag will generate about 25 to 30 pieces of chicken leg meat. Use quart-sized freezer bags to store them in the freezer until you are ready to thaw them for cooking.
Each thigh has about 14 grams of protein and the drumsticks have 12 grams of protein. Look up recipes such as "rosemary garlic chicken," "lemon pepper chicken," "Mexican chicken bake," and "ranch chicken" for starters.

Make a schedule to drink you Protein and Water. Set alerts on your cell phone to remind you to sip every 10-15 minutes.

Getting your Water and Protein in is the most important thing for your recovery right now. Even if it is tough, you have to meet those goals. I suggest sipping constantly throughout the day in order to meet your goals. Working toward those goals is really a full-time job in the first few weeks post-op.

My 1st stall was at 2 1/2 weeks and lasted almost two weeks, and I followed my plan to the letter. It's great that you got right back on track. Stalls are going to happen from time to time no matter what you do.

Look up the "three week stall." It is a very real phenomenon that happens to the majority of bariatric surgery patients sometime between the second and fourth post-op week. Since it usually takes place during week three, it is called the three week stall.
For now, it would be wise to stay off the scale. The stall will break. You didn't become obese overnight and you will not become a normal-weight person overnight, either. Patience is king. Weight loss after the sleeve is your personal marathon, not some sprint in which we compare our progress to other sleevers.
You lost 16 pounds in less than three weeks. You are doing wonderfully. With my sleeve I lost an average of 3 to 6 pounds per month, so I was the definition of a slow loser, yet I made it to goal.
Keep in mind that the weight loss phase is unimportant in the bigger picture. Instead, your ability to maintain the weight loss for life is what really matters since the majority of bariatric surgery patients regain some or all of their weight.
    Good luck to you!

Me too! I was just about to post about this. It's the only time I feel crappy. I need a new vitamin...one that's easy to tolerate. Thanks for posting this, I"m hoping for suggestions as well.

I take Bariatric Advantage Chewy multi and Calcium twice a day. They taste great. Initially, they made me nauseous if I took them on an empty stomach, but I was fine after a few days.

I do not have a drain tube however I do have pain in just one incision area. It's bigger than all the others. It's almost impossible for me to stand straight because it tugs and causes a burning/pulling pain. I guess it's pretty normal from what I have read. Since I have been walking slouched over my back is bothering me too! [emoji30] hope the soreness passes for you soon!

You've lots 22 lbs in a month! That is fantastic! You should be pleased and proud of your progress!
With the additional surgery, it's bound to take you longer to start feeling yourself again. You've had a rough go of it, but it's going to getting better from here on out. Honestly, at 6 weeks out, I feel completely back to normal - except I can't eat very much lol
As for Protein replacements, I agree they get old fast! I got to a point where the thought of drinking them made me feel sick. However, your protein intake is so incredibly important! How are you doing on your protein targets? (and Fluid for that matter, dehydration will make you feel terrible too). If you aren't reaching them, are you at least getting closer every day? Aim for progress. When I quit the protein powders, I had to be extra diligent about what I chose to eat. Literally every single bit needs to be as nutritious as possible. Cottage cheese and greek yogurt were my go-to Snacks. Moist scrambled egg, tuna salad, avocado (for the good fats) made up most meals. Refried Beans with a bit of melted cheese were nice.
Hang in there. It gets better

Sorry to hear about the gallbladder.... definitely added insult to injury!
This surgery creates a major emotional rollercoaster in most people. Sounds like you are partying in car 9.
You will feel full when adding more solid meats to your diet. But if it is a gnawing type hunger, you might need more antacids.
Did you have discussions with people prior to surgery about why you wanted the procedure? Maybe remembering those talks will help you now.
The weight loss will come, but it isn't instant. The body has a ton of work to do carefully disassembling every cell. There is a mile of blood vessels in every pound of fat. Those have to get broken down as well.
You are going to do great!

I was lightly jogging on a treadmill three or so days after surgery. My surgical team told me that when I was ready, I was ready. My suggestion is to start with something simple like jogging in place. If that hurts, you're not ready. If that feels good, try some treadmill work. Then build up to distance runs indoors or outdoors, whichever you prefer. Good luck!

October 28, 2016 I was 470 pounds and started my 2 week pre-op diet. Surgery was Nov 9th.
Today is April 29, 2017 and I was 320 pounds today. 150 pounds gone. Another 70 or so left to lose.
Surgery was the best decision I've made in years. My life has improved in so many ways.
