    Post op complications

I'm almost 3 months out and I've not had any complications. Everything went as my surgeon and nutritionist said it would. I don't have any regrets at all.

    Change in tastebuds.

I'll be 3 months post op in 6/1. For me, everything tastes different. I only drink water. Occasionally, I'll put a drop or two of crystal light in it, but it's usually too sweet. I used to enjoy cookies and other sweets, but usually can't stand the smell of anything sweet now. I don't know if it's a permanent change, but don't like the foods that I used to enjoy anymore.
  3. My book is almost exactly the same an very helpful.

    2 Days post op

You're releasing gas. It's normal. You should get 64 onces total.

    2 Days post op

Make sure you are sipping at least for the first week. Drinking room temperature water helped me. The burping is very common. I would have long burping spells for the first two weeks, but I was home and really didn't care, as long as it brought relief.

    2 Days post op

Make a schedule to drink you protein and water. Set alerts on your cell phone to remind you to sip every 10-15 minutes.
  7. I was sleeved on 3/1. I've lost 30 lbs since surgery plus the 15 I lost during the 2 week pre-op diet, so 45 total. Strangely enough, I can eat everything I've tried, except chicken and eggs. I've not had any problems getting my protein or fluids in at all. I workout doing cardio and strength training 5-6 days a week. I've had several stalls, but seem to lose inches during my stalls. I think we get caught up in comparing ourselves to others and become disappointed in what we see as "slow progress", without considering the differences in our starting stats and programs. If we are not where we were before that initial consultation, we all should be damn proud of even the slightest progress.

    Vitamins 🤢

I like the strawberry watermelon multi and the caramel calcium.

    Vitamins 🤢

I take Bariatric Advantage Chewy multi and calcium twice a day. They taste great. Initially, they made me nauseous if I took them on an empty stomach, but I was fine after a few days.

    Drain tube post sleeve

I didn't have a drain tube, but I did have a pain medication pump going to one of my incisions for 5 or 6 days. I felt a burning sensation when the medication would leak on my skin.

    Probably neurotic but

My 1st stall was at 2 1/2 weeks and lasted almost two weeks, and I followed my plan to the letter. It's great that you got right back on track. Stalls are going to happen from time to time no matter what you do.
  12. I started at 2 weeks out. Started light lifting at 4 weeks out.

    Can't Stand Water

I had to change the brand of bottled water I drink. I have no problems drinking it now.
  14. Yoplait Greek yogurt is 14 grams of protein is has been filling for me, as well.
  15. The protein will ease the empty feeling. Try to drink another shake.
  16. I drink an extra premier protein shake (3=90 grams), Yoplait Greek Yogart=14 g, and tuna In the foil pack=17 g, on most days.

    Stage 2 diet

My doc said no to grits, but I did try cream of wheat twice. It has little protein, so I felt it was a waste and didn't eat it again. I had milk a few times, but I mainly stayed with my protein shakes and chicken broth.
  18. I wasn't allowed to have water or ice for more than 24 hours until after they did the leak test, but they gave me a little wet sponge to swab my dry lips and tongue.

    Leak test

My doctor stated that his practice does one during surgery and one I had to do the next morning after surgery for every patient.
  20. I wore the hospital gown and bought a bathrobe, so that I wouldn't be exposed in the back while walking around the hospital floor.
  21. It's normal for 1st month, but everyone is different. Next month may not be that much, so don't get discouraged by what you may think is "slow".
  22. With the exercise you are getting, try to increase your protein and water intake. My stats are similar to yours and I had surgery on 3/1. Dropped 15 lbs pre-op and lost another 20 or so since surgery. Also remember that most people experience stalls in week 3 and everyone's body is different. My stall lasted 2 weeks. Scale is finally moving again, but slow. My NUT says that I should lose 1-5 lbs a week and encouraged me to increase protein and INTENTIONAL walking, and to make sure I get enough fluids.

    Liquid Diet Struggles

I was sleeved on 3/1 and had no problem with the liquid diet, but my 1st day on soft foods (3/15) was horrible. I tried a little chicken salad and wasn't able to keep it down. Any chicken is still a definite NO for me. I'll be able to eat regular foods next week, but I'm scared to have anything but tuna, boiled eggs, and Greek yogurt since I know I can keep those down and they are high in protein.

    ??????

Whenever comfortable. No specific wait time.
  25. I get enough b-12 in my multi-vitamin. My NUT and Surgeon said that it is not necessary for me to take any additional, because the body can only absorb so much anyway. My labs determined that I only needed extra calcium and a multivitamin.
