  1. Hi Bandfan, I'm 48, was 235 lbs and only 5'1" tall when I was banded in January. So far I have lost 42 pounds. I've been through so many sizes of clothes lately, lucky I never threw out the clothes that I "grew" out of, so now I go shopping in my closet. Good luck on your banding.
  2. I find that I PB more after Dinner, for some reason, my band gets tight at that time. Got to remember to chew, chew, chew and eat slow.
  3. At about 4 - 5 weeks out , the 2 ounces of protein that I was eating didn't last until the next meal, I kept getting hungry, so my Doctor added some vegetables to my diet. Then I had my first fill at 6 weeks, I have restriction now and if I eat too much it doesn't go down. Hang in there.
  4. I do most of my exercise on the Treadmill, I put my laptop on and watch a movie or tv show while I'm walking and the time flys by. What is funny is that I live in Hawaii and the weather is great most of the time...and here I am walking indoors. LOL
  5. I know now that the band is not the cure all. It help by limiting what I can fit in my stomach. But the real battle is fighting the bad habits and encouraging the good habits like exercising and drinking lots of water. I can only fight the battle one day at a time, some days I lose the battle and give in to eating something I know I shouldn't and other days, I win the battle. It's gotta be one day at a time.
  6. My diet doesn't allow bread. I'm supposed to be eating only protein and vegetables. Supposedly later I get to add some starch to my diet. I miss bread.
  7. Wow, Non-scale victories...I'm able to wear clothes that I had in my closet 4 year ago. Such nice outfits that I could only look at and sigh, now I can wear again. I took an hour walk with my Husband and he got tired keeping up with ME! I feel Great. Oh yeah, a great one is when a co-worker called me "Hey Skinny".
  8. Wow, that explains it. In the morning when my band is tight, if I eat too fast, I have had PB, and yes I get slime first. I had wondered where it came from, cause I didn't eat anything slimy.
  9. My Hospital bill was $23,000 and my portion after insurance was $1,000. Anesthesia was $94.00 out of pocket and My Surgeon was $150 after insurance. I'm so glad that my insurance covered this. Out of pocket, I'm probably at $4,000 to $5,000.00 for the program, testing, hospital and associated costs. But it was well worth it.
  10. I was banded on Jan 7, 2008 and have lost 35 pounds. At first the losing was easy, but now its slowed down and I have to make sure I keep exercising so it'll keep coming off. One day at a time. Keep at it!
  11. My pre op diet consisted of trying not to snack and eating more nutritious food like vegetables. I also had to exercise regularly. Since my insurance approval took 6 months, the first 4 months, I stuck to my program, but as it took longer, I started not exercising, but still ate better. I didn't loose weight when I went back for my pre-surgery appointment, but I had gained muscle and lost fat, so my Doctor was happy with that.
  12. After the surgery, I was on a ten day liquid diet, clear soups, jello and lots of water and sugarfree drinks. After my liquid diet, I was able to go on a solid food diet. Two ounces of protein three times a day. After about 7 weeks, I was still had more room, so he allowed me to have some vegetables. After almost two month, I had my first fill. I found that now I have more restriction and am not able to eat as much as before my fill. I also have to chew my food really well, cause otherwise it feels stuck.
  13. Hi, I got banded at Pali Momi by Dr. Brandt Lapschies of Hawaii Bariatric Center. I'm from the Big Island so had to fly over for my appointments and follow ups. I had my surgery on January 7, 2008 and have lost 34 pounds since. I just had my first fill on February 29th.
  14. This is my first post. I got banded on January 7, 2008. It's been a little over two months and I have lost 34 pounds. I was banded by Dr. Lapschies in Oahu, my surgery was great and recovery went well. I was 235 pounds before surgery and am now 201 pounds.
