  1. Dear SoCal Cass998058: It's reassuring to hear someone that knows about Dr. Corvala because my family is thinking she is really taking a leap of faith to go into a foreign country and have surgery and some family members don't mine saying--You have completely lost your mind. So Thanks! Good luck with your lapband as well. Regards, Vickie
  2. I've just recently bought some Protein Drinks trying to get an idea as to how it is going to be but no I haven't tried to lose anymore. My birthday was Saturday and I had cheese cake, my favorite. Sarah Palin seems quite knowledgable and has all of her ducks in a roll. Although I was unhappy when they dismissed the BRIDGE to Nowhere. Believe the bridge is to somewhere and the bridge could save us about 30 minutes instead of having to fight the freeway traffic into Anchorage. Many of the people in the Matsu-Vally must drive to work and if you were on the freeway you would ask why doesn't someone do something about this. I hope that Charlie, the guy that interviewed her last week at her home had to drive on that confounded freeway so he could say--we don't need that bridge--I hope she didn't fly him to her house.
  3. Hi Nazzy;997476 Your not being nosey--It will cost 7 thousand dollars American cashier's check. This does not include airfare and I live in Alaska. My husband wants to go to monitor everything so I can safely add on another 2 thousand and hope I can say it only cost 9 thousand altogether. I found a doctor that will do the fills in Anchorage and that is only about an hour away. I'm excited about this too and praying it works and hope I can learn to make it work.
  4. Wow Bev, your 59 and never had any kind of surgery? That is wonderful and amazing to me. My first surgery was when I was 10 and I've had 6 surgeries since then so this will be number 8. The worst part of surgery is knowing they are going to put you to sleep and that is before the surgery so---if thats been the worst part for me then it couldn't be that bad. I really don't mind temporary pain, that means your still alive. (smile) Oh I'm 58 and my date for the lap band is the 21st of October in Mexico, I pay.
  5. I'm going to Mexico too in Oct. the 21st. with Dr. Lopez Corvala

It sounds like they have this hurdle under control and that your going to be alright--just remember right now your health is number one--without you how can you help anybody else? Hang in there Regards, Vickie

Please take your surgery and put it down as number one "uno" on your priority list. I know your children and kids are number one but right now the surgery and your health is more important because if your not around to take care of your kids because you didn't take care of your self---This is so important I can't put it into words.

  9. Wow, you look lighter than 181 lbs and you look healthy! I'm looking forward to getting my lap band in October. I'm proud of you.
  10. Sounds like you have had a very interesting life thus far and you want to do whatever it takes to live life to the fullest. I'm proud of you and I don't even know you. When will it be safe for you to try to become pregnant? I haven't had my lap band yet but I'm scheduled for Oct. 21, 2008 Kids are wonderful and I wish I could be with my grandchildren as well. Good Luck it sounds like you have it all together.
  11. Dear Scared to be Banded: I'm scared too but I sent my deposit in and made my appointment for Oct. 21st. Part of the reason is that it's in Mexico but the doctors are suppose to do more lapbands than anyplace in the world so I'm going to go for it. I'm tired of all this pain of being too heavy with all the health problems that I have, but yes I'm scared--I think that is normal!!!
  12. Eagle Beagle--Good luck and God Bless, Keep me informed on how you progress. I know that you have to be brave for any type of surgery.
  13. June 19, 2008 Dear Readers: I’m a 57 almost 58 grandmother of 5. I am contemplating the lap band because I don’t have the will power to lose the 60-65 pounds that I desperately need to lose. I am so tired of hurting. My back was broken and the pain is excruciating. I weigh only 183-185 but all the fat is on the core of my body and the pain keeps me disabled. I have tried-- I have always had a problem all my life keeping my weight at a healthy norm which would be 110 to 135. In April of 2006 I broke my back and have gone to physical therapy and the whole nine yards. I have osteoporosis which contributed to the back breakage. My knees need total replacement according to the doctors. My medical doctor tells me if I will lose 60 pounds then I won’t have the back pain that keeps me in bed most of the time , about 16 hours. I have high blood pressure and am prone to diabetes so the 60-65 pounds have got to go so I can want to live the few years that we have been given on this earth. My problem, as in many cases, is money and I’m trying to save enough- but it’s challenging. Please understand that I don’t want any hand-outs, I just want you to know why my pain hasn’t already been taken care of. Sincerely, Vickie913
