I'm 3 years out, and still going strong! When I eat out, I just let my pouch do the talking. It has not failed me yet! I look over the menu carefully to see what I can eat and tolerate. I still lean towards soft foods when I eat out, just to be on the safe side. Dumping syndrome is still very real, but I enjoy myself being picky about what I eat! It's cool!

Say buh-bye to the habits that kept you trapped in mounds of flesh and fat. And say hello to easy-to-prepare home-cooked meals of whole foods.

I have become much more health conscious and logical since having my gastric bypass weight loss surgery in 2003. And I have witnessed that just as there is a method for obesity, there is a method for weight loss. As a result, making good food choices for your bariatric life can be as simple as swapping out unhealthy foods and cooking methods for their healthy versions. I promise you will love cauliflower rice, zoodles, and air-fried veggie chips so much that you’ll never feel deprived of your potatoes and Pasta again.

Say buh-bye to the habits that kept you trapped in mounds of flesh and fat. And say hello to easy-to-prepare home-cooked meals of whole foods.

INVEST IN SEVERAL QUALITY SMALL APPLIANCES AND LEARN NEW, HEALTHY WAYS OF PREPARING FOODS.
Investing in a few high-quality small appliances and kitchen tools will pay for themselves with the money you save on processed convenience foods — and you’ll be rewarded with highly nutritious foods and superior taste!

Check out a few basics to get you started:
    • Coleman grill for amazing grilled meats, fish, and vegetables! Take this portable grill on road trips, too!
    • Slow cooker or electric pressure cooker make food very tender and easier to digest.
    • Osterizer is the best blender I’ve ever had for frozen Protein Shakes and smoothies — and it’s far cheaper than a Vitamix!
    • Cuisinart food processor for chopping cauliflower into rice to pureeing cashews into nut butter or roasted cauliflower into mashed potatoes, and more.
    • Wok pan for quick and healthy stir-fry meals in minutes.
    • Vegetable spiralizer to make grain-free noodles from zucchini (zoodles) or sweet potatoes.
    • Air-fryer for healthy veggie fries, crunchy veggie chips and more!

    50m pool? 30m? 25m?
I usually spend 80 to 150 minutes in the Water SIX days per week. Its a 25m pool so 80 laps is 2km and 124 laps is two miles.
I normally breaststroke 60-90 laps and wade as fast as I can manage (chest deep) for 24-36 laps.
My lung capacity is quite good for a morbidly obese man. (My anaesthetist from this year's three ops says so too.)

I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a fitness challenge to complete 100 miles in 100 days. I've done one in the past and it helps keep you accountable for exercising. The one that I did in the past used twenty minutes of any exercise equaled a mile or actual walking or running distance.
Though anyone interested could start on Monday Sept 11th which would go through to Dec 20th. Maybe post weekly totals and I will come up with a spreadsheet.

stormyweather reacted to Introversion in Just Curious .. can you handle bread, rice, pasta?
I'm 2.5 years out and can tolerate bread, rice and Pasta wonderfully.
In fact, I can tolerate the aforementioned foods too wonderfully...in the context of being able to eat nearly unlimited quantities of bread, rice and pasta without ever feeling full.
Starches spell WEIGHT REGAIN for the majority of sleeve and bypass patients, so just because we can eat them doesn't necessarily mean we should.
    Good luck to you.

When I had mine, my doctor told me that I had to excise! Going hard! His exact words! I hit the gym! I can only eat 4oz of food per meal, and I'm 2years post op. I lost 140lbs it's still off. You might have to reset your pouch by doing liquids the first week n soft foods the second week. Stay way from high carbs!! Don't go over 10 per food. Good luck!!!
