pattycaketoo reacted to luvrocky73 in On the losers bench
Hi all,
My surgery was yesterday and thank God no pain or nausea just a very bloated belly that was uncomfortable and prevented me from making my Water and Protein goals yesterday. After a suppository, anti gas medicine and lots and lots of walking today I have been able to get back on track getting in my liquids.
Btw Torrance Memorial is amazing, nice individual rooms and they have the best staff. Also, my surgeon Dr Solomon is awesome. Small incisions no drain no catheter and calming demeanor.
Yay! Good luck and prayers for everyone in this journey.

I've been wanting to call to see when they were. Do you have to dates and time? It was the first Tues of the month. I'm sure it's changed since.

pattycaketoo reacted to OutsideMatchInside in Is my sleeve too big
You answered your own question. You added mayo and mustard, liquids, to make it mushier and easier to eat. If you add liquids to things making them sliders you will be able to eat large amounts of everything. You are working around your sleeve.
That aside, being able to eat 2 mushy eggs doesn't mean your sleeve is too big. If anything it means you are healing well.

pattycaketoo reacted to MeltsIntoWonder in Best flavoured protein powder?
I've had a really hard time finding Protein Drinks that don't taste awful to me. Premier isn't too bad, and I like the Syntrax Nectar lemonade flavor (I mix it with Water or Decaf iced tea).

pattycaketoo got a reaction from arringtonc49 in Lentil soup with tomato
Tomatoes are acidic and may be hard on the healing stomach. Plus if it has the peeling on and had seeds in it, those are hard to digest as well.

pattycaketoo reacted to Akka in Day 2 Post Op - What to drink and when? Advice please.
The plan they gave me at the doc said only Clear Liquids the first week. So that would rule out the Protein Shakes, yogurt, etc.

pattycaketoo got a reaction from Syaniya in 4 month follow up yesterday (03/10/17)
I had the bypass on 11/14/16 with zero complications. I'm so happy for that! I had my levels checked for the first time, the dr said everything came back on the higher end and that's great. On surgery day I was 341 as of yesterday I am 284. That's a total of 57 pounds gone! I lost the total weight of my granddaughter!!! I feel amazing. I have stopped taking BP meds along with cholesterol meds. I am no longer pre diabetic as my A1C is 5.3. I'm so happy I did this. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Very proud of myself and my family are amazed at the changes in not only my looks but my attitude.

pattycaketoo reacted to glitter eyes in What's the deal with hair loss?
I have to chime in.. I had the gastric sleeve and I have been very diligent about meeting and exceeding my Protein goals every day. I take all my recommend Vitamins, all my lab work post surgery has been perfect. I have taken high dose Biotin since pre op, make my Water requirements, track all my nutrients and adjust my diet to meet my goals. My hair has still fallen out. So not everyone will keep their hair just because they are eating enough protein.
I think it may be the luck of the draw. I just happen to be one of those with thinner hair who has followed all the rules.
That being said the weight loss has been worth the Hair loss.
Good luck to everyone.

Absolutely nothing. I would not sabotage my journey or my progress for any food or drink. Food is fuel to me; that is all.
