Youll do great! I went in at 7 and did all the registration and pre op stuff (getting IV, gown, urine sample, etc etc). Last thing I remember was them saying it was my turn and that they were going to give me something to help me relax. I remember feeling calm and then waking up to someone calling my name. I always have a bad time coming off anesthesia so that sucked but isn't typical.
After that they took me to my room and loaded me up with pain meds and anti nausea. If I'm not sugar coating, the first day sucks (and that's any surgery in my experience). You're just going to feel crappy and out of it from anesthesia and pain meds. I also had to spend like 2 hours in the bathroom (asleep on the toilet for most of it, lol) trying to pee so they wouldn't insert a catheter. I finally did. The next day I was walking around and totally ready to go home. I'm 6 days post and still feeling pretty tired but I've been off pain killers and nausea meds completely for 3 days. The first 24 hours will be the hardest but for most people it's not that bad.

I knew I had to go my body just wasn't awake and cooperating yet. At the time I was perfectly happy just to be asleep on the toilet so I sat there until it happened, lol. I was NOT getting a catheter.

I don't really have cheat foods. I eat what I want but I'm conscious of the portion and calories. I limit myself.
I don't think it's a long term plan to make certain foods forbidden. It only makes it harder to resist.
Luckily I have lost my taste for sweets.

@@h.brooks661989 What are you allowed on your diet? Be sure you are getting in plenty of fluids and don't get dehydrated. Also - Protein Shakes can sometimes constipate you - you may want to ask about taking a stool softener or benefiber.

One thing I enjoy is good meatballs, like Aidells. I buy some great Marinara sauce, expensive but good ingredients, no preservatives, and three baked meatballs with two Tbsp. MArinara makes me feel like I had an Italian meal.

I haven't had Cereal since before surgery. I do eat oatmeal pretty frequently. I just make sure I add Protein to it.
I have had pizza a handful of times since surgery (over a year and a half). It just doesn't do it for me like it did pre-op. It smells better than it tastes. If I eat it at all, I prefer that it be really good pizza (not any of the chain stuff) and I focus on the toppings. Personally, if I am eating at an Italian restaurant I would rather have meatballs.

I am going to find alternatives for pizza - zucchini pizza, eggplant pizza, etc. I haven't had cereal in a while but won't be having it postop either.

If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you always got. My thoughts, Cereal, bread, crackers, pizza, Cookies, cake, have no place in my home, 3 years since surgery. If it were here, I might slip. No, I would slip. After the sleeve you really can eat all the cereal you want, you can eat pizza every day of the week. You can eat it and never lose weight. I dearly love homemade biscuits, gravy, and chicken and dumplings like my Mother taught me. I really miss them but I could not wear my new clothes if I eat them. It is a choice. Make sure you are ready to change your life. Good luck girl!
