KitsuneMiko got a reaction from _Kate_ in Keeping a journal
Yes i do journal a lot, i love writing about my journey because i feel so much better afterwards. I even wrote letters to my self ( I know it sounds weird ) to read after i hit specific milestones. I read two of them so far, one was the night before surgery and the other was the day after and that was a really good outlet for me and my emotions. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

Who has decided to keep a journal of their pre and post surgery journey (for want of a better word)?
I didn't but wish I had now as I have the memory of a flea. I never bothered writing down how much I lost in each month or dates as to when I hit goals because at that time I felt it didn't matter. My focus was on reaching my goal, not how fast or slow I did it.
Do you note everything down? Do you write it in a book or do you keep it online?
Why is it important to you ? Is it for your eyes only or do you share it with anyone else?

Yeah same here, im just trying to get as much fluids in as i can. For me room temp liquid goes down a little easier, ill have to try hotter liquid that might help the swelling go down faster. Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

@@KitsuneMiko you are totally right! pizza (and of course many other foods) were my weakness and ultimately led me to obesity. I can't be mad at anyone else except have confidence in myself and take it one meal at a time! I'd say 1 day at a time but sometimes it's taking it hour by hour. Thank you for all the support!

I had to deal with a similar issue last night. My dad ordered 3 different medium Dominos pizzas ( 2 of them were my favorite of course lol) I was initially upset because he knows I just got my surgery a week ago. I stayed away from it and had my tuna instead, as i thought about it i came to the conclusion that obviously I can't change the way other people eat and it wouldn't be fair to tell them they can't eat the Foods they normally eat because I want them. I had to think about it and say to myself is this slice of pizza really worth my health and happiness?. Dont worry about it! Remember why you did this, Your going to do great!

I'm only 1 week post-op and I've followed my diet and walking 100%. Last night I went to my brother and sister-in-law's house to watch a movie and they had pizza. I didn't dare look at it but all I could think was "So I wonder at what point can I take a bite of pizza? Will it be bad? Surely a small bite can't hurt 6 months from now!"
I'm staying with my parents until I make the trip home tomorrow and they made gluten free Pasta tonight. (My mom has celiac) In the past I wouldn't think much of GF pasta but tonight I'm craving it SO bad! The smell is making my stomach growl bc it smells so delicious. I had to take my chicken broth and go sit in my room with the door closed.
I'm afraid that if I'm having these urges/thoughts now, it will only get worse. Anyone else experience this?

KitsuneMiko got a reaction from themaestroswife in What is the post surgical pain like?
Honestly its different for everyone. I know some one who had no pain at all post op. I just had my sleeve done the 25th and i experienced some really bad pain at one of my incisions sites, although everyday the pain lessens a bit which is another reason to walk as much as possible to help elevate the pain. It is normal to have pain though , im only 4 days post op and my pain is pretty minimal now. Im only having some sore muscles near one of my incisions which isn't that bad anymore. I hope this helped out a bit. ????

Thanks everyone. It seems very similar to what oven been through. I'll push my booty to walk, walk, walk! Fatigue has nothing on me since I've suffered through probably the worst fatigue ever with the removal of my thyroid. That was extremely difficult and lasted an entire year! I'm strong, I will survive!

My surgery is tomorrow and I'm getting really nervous. So I guess I will be weighing in, so to speak, in a few days. I am six days behind you. Eek!
My husband has been very supportive. We just bought a wood stove and it will be fully connected while I am in the hospital. So I can sit by a nice warm fire to ease my misery.
I made myself a bunch of trays of chicken broth, turkey broth and miso broth blended with unflavored Protein powder, and pureed the chicken from the Soup and put it up in ice cube trays in the freezer. I labelled it for the hubby. He doesn't cook so I don't have to worry about bizarre barbecuing behavior. You ladies have my empathy. I think he'll express himself by starting fires in the stove which is fine by me.
I would like to have some sleeve buddies too.

Yes, my surgeon said it was fine, i had gum during pre op. My liver was "near perfect" according to him. You just can't have it after midnight the day before surgery, or the day of surgery due to the saliva that builds up. They'll cancel your surgery for that. Hope that helps Sent from my SM-J700P using the BariatricPal App

I 'm only telling my family and one truly supportive friend. When Ive discussed this with friends before I was discouraged by the negative feedback. Another friend of mine who had WLS and has had amazing results told me that people act really strange. The most negative comments come from friends who are also big and have chosen not to have surgery because they are afraid of it or they don't want to change their lifestyle. Even when I was strict on my diet and was eating clean and no alcohol I had friends who made remarks like oh call me when you can have fun again. I realized that people don't want you to change from the role you play in their lives. If you are the fun one and always available when they want to go out and have fun, they are afraid that will change. I have no problem socializing with people without drinking and I can still have fun. I think it makes people uncomfortable when I'm not drinking and eating bad food and they are because of their own issues. Your true friends will be supportive. For some it just might take a while to realize that you are still you.
