I go out every Friday w a group of friends. What I enjoy is fitting in these size 12 jeans. Lol...I seriously don't miss the frantic noshing that goes on at the table. I have given up beef, so I'll have a salad with chicken or bean Soup. Plus I've discovered a terrific stand in for margaritas. Deep Eddy's lemonade vodka and Water w a twist of lime. Delish.
The positive so outweighs the negatives;)

There is nothing wrong with supplementing with Protein shakes to get your goals met.
I'm about to mix one for my Breakfast this morning and drink it on the way to work, in fact. This is a fairly routine practice for me.

I am beyond stressing! My surgery was approved and scheduled for 9/29. I had my medical clearance appointment this past weekend. My doctor never sent the script for a spleen ultrasound he wants done because on existing issue I have with my platelets. Fine. That's now scheduled for the Tuesday before the surgery. I had the ekg, blood work, and chest X-ray. The nurse at the hospital said it has to be sent over to my primary doctor for the clearance but everything looks great. I get to my primary today and he reviews it and says there is a problem with my ekg and he wants to repeat it. He does and the problem is still there. Inverted t waves. Said I need a stress test before he can clear me. I go to schedule it and nothing free until mid October. They are going to try and fit me in Monday. I go home and Google inverted t waves and now think I am about to have a heart attack any second! Im so nervous about my heart and I don't think the surgery is going to happen next week! Just venting. Thanks for getting this far lol.

Drink Water. I mean like obsessive compulsive. Stay on target the final 48 before surgery. You will be fine. Remember why you are having the surgery. And then kick a$$. In a few months you will be able to have a touch of that cheat food but the good thing... you will have lost so much weight and taste buds changed so much that it wont even be a big deal.

fitntrimshel reacted to asmallerme2016 in What was the longest stall you had?
So I have been stalling lately for 2-3 weeks at a time and only lost 2 pounds in 2 months. Surgery was 4/26 lost 45lbs total. I'm 4 months out and feel I should have lost a lot more. At my 3 month check up they said I was on track but I don't feel like I am. Honestly it's so hard days to even get all my Protein and Water in. I was just wondering if anyone else had long stalls like me. I have only found couple days to 2-3 weeks stalls at the most.

I think you're doing great. 4 weeks 2 days total, and you're down 18 lbs. To lose two pounds a week, one has to cut their calories by 1000 per day and you're averaging ~4.5 lbs a week. I think that's incredible. Hang in there emotionally, we're all going through this together. *hugs*

I tried to prepare myself this am when I steppe son the scales- in fact- I missed my weekly weigh in by two days because I figured his would be when that stall everyone talks about would begin and I was trying to mentally prepare myself... Thought I was ready- but I guess I wasn't--- at three weeks post surgery I had lost 18 pounds and I was really happy with that- I weighed today ( 4 weeks and two days post surgery) and it's the exact same
I knows all about stalls and everything. Ut man it really hurts to see that number. I know it's a marathon and not a sprint but my brain just cannot see how I can eat how little I do and not lose weight. It's so shocking
Thanks for listening- just needed some support

I love your photos. I had my sleeve down 8/8/16. I'm down 53pds and as of this morning reach Onederland for the first time in 20 years. I'm 62years old. Can't wait for the rest of my journey. Looking forward to seeing my mom next month, and showing her the new me. She was the one who encouraged me to help myself.

Keep on staying the course during this pre-op time.
It sucks. No other way to say it. It just sucks.
You will be happy to see the scale reward you daily, though. It will escalate the pace of the loss....by the time you hit your surgery date you will already be losing at a great rate.
You don't have long to go...hang in there and keep on trucking.
One of the greatest simple pleasures that I have now is the feeling when I walk into my gym....it's a very busy gym, too....folks everywhere. I used to get a bit anxious going in there....nervous over the extra weight I was carrying around.....nervous over being judged. Now that a good portion of the unwanted fat is gone.....so is my anxiety over walking in there. I still don't look like a guy who goes to the gym.....but I do feel more at home in there.
I think you will be absolutely amazed at the timeframe that is ahead of you. The weight will burn off quickly and you will be closing in on your weight goals at a rate that will make you laugh.
As you already likely know, Protein intake will be crucial for your weight training and even more so with the bypass. You will have to be consistent and disciplined on ensuring you get the right amounts at the right times.
You're almost there.....a couple days away.
    Hang in there.

Hey, I've read a bunch of posts on this forum over the past several weeks and decided, now that I'm only days away from my surgery, that I'd go ahead and join. The liquid pre-op diet has been the most brutal diet I've ever been on, I'm starving all day long and I never thought I'd miss chewing so much...but I haven't cracked. I've been doing everything by the numbers, so I can get the best outcome possible. My surgery date is September 23rd, and this diet has had the nice effect of making me welcome the surgery date, so that I hopefully won't have to feel this gnawing feeling in my stomach anymore, at least for a few months!
I'm glad to find a men's forum, there just aren't a whole lot of stories out there on the web about men having the surgery and achieving fitness goals, and the like. I am planning to really get myself to a high level of fitness through this process - I love weights and even though I've been overweight most of my life, I know a lot about nutrition and weight training. I guess the challenge isn't gaining the knowledge, it's actually using it. My weight is such a difficulty now though that I'm basically carrying another full-grown man around all day long, it makes the compound lifts difficult to execute safely, without risking injury. So I can't do them. I can't wait until I can feel the relief of getting that guy off my back and pushing Iron, instead of flesh.
Thanks to the guys on this forum who have posted photos of their progress. I plan to be around.

i know everyone is different but i'll be a year out in October and i drink and eat whenever i want (yes, even at the same time with meals). ive had carbonation, ive had alcohol, ive had carbs. now as a general rule i don't do the carbs, carbonation nor sugar, i keep it pretty Keto, but i CAN if i want without issue.
if you aren't very far out definitely listen to your nutritionist just letting you know things get easier and your tolerance gets higher for certain things. just be patient.

I never in a million years would have said what I will now; I can't drink and eat at the same time. It is uncomfortable and I can't eat enough if I try drinking while eating.
