My Iron is fine, and I'm constantly freezing!
It's better than sweating like a pig all the time, but it is still very, very annoying!
Mine also started before surgery, right at the beginning of my pre-op diet. This is why I think it may have more to do with low food/calorie intake than actual loss of fat.
If people say it can go away over time, that could reinforce that theory, as people tend to up caloric intake over time. But it's just a theory. I've been to lazy to do any actual research on the topic to date.

Thanks! It is 78 in my house right now and I'm in long pants and under a big fluffy blanket. Lol- I didn't think Iron would hit only 5 days after surgery

    Hiya,
Well tomorrow is my 1 year sleeve-aversary, and some days I feel I can eat a lot (by which I mean like a side plate sized portion of food in one meal), yesterday for instance I ate about 2/3 of a toasted sandwhich, which seems a lot these days (i know how skewed someone who isn't yet sleeved), but I still avoid empty carbs like bread as a rule, so it was a real treat!
Tonight I thought I was hungry, but felt a LOT of restriction, so I had about 4 teaspoons of quorn mince for my actual tea, and then some stir fry a couple of hours later because I thought I should - unfortunately that proved to be a mistake, and although I had probably 1.5 serving spoons full, it did not agree, and didn't stick around Although I am still surprised that at a year out I still don't know all the quirks of my new stomach, part of me is glad every time it rebels as it re-affirms that it is helping to moderate me!
I'd say that in terms of average meals for me, I eat a lot of chicken so I can usually do 1 medium chicken breast and maybe 1 desert spoon of something with it, although on more restricted days this will over face me slightly, alternately I find omlette is another good high Protein option, and I can usually manage 3/4 of a plain omlette made with 2 medium eggs.
I can honestly say that a year out my sleeve is still well and truly paying for itself!
Good luck in your journey x

I'm starting month 9 out and I have no idea. And that's what I love about this surgery! I'm certain I get enough Protein because I major monitiored for the first 6 months so I just compute it automatically. But from about that point on I stopped paying attention to the whole "food" thing. And that's exactly what I was hoping for. When I look back over my old journals it's frightening how myopic my world was. How much did I eat that day, what was the calorie counts, what did the scales say that morning.....fighting tooth and nail to keep my weight under control was issue one in my life. Now it's not in the top 10. I eat as healthy as I can. Protein first, veggies second, anything else third. As stared in this thread, there's not a lot of room for third.
I eat when I get hungry. I eat slowly. I eat healthy. And I let it be.
I love this way of life with food. And from the date of my surgery I am down about 90 pounds now, about 144 from my highest point and about 106 from the day I joined my program for surgery. I'm about 20 away from my personal goal.
My point is that when you get this far out, you may find you are thinking more about eating healthy with very little interest or concern with capacity. It may seem hard to believe but it's my truth. And I love it. I love that food finally means so little to me. I never thought it was possible.

I am almost 8 months out and my restriction is still about 4 oz. Once my swelling went down after surgery and I was eating normal ( 4 oz), this has not changed much. I do not push it, I have overeaten a couple of times and I just do not like the feeling. I love that we can still have a taste of anything we want, there is not a food that I cannot tolerate. I do eat healthy and I REALLY watch my portions but I do have a bite of something if I want it, I just do not make it a habit. I am about 14 lbs from goal and I am really going to get strict and push it these next few weeks. The restriction is the key to the success of the surgery and mine is as good now as it was 8 months ago.

I can eat about 3-4 ounces of Protein and a few bites of veggies. I don't eat bread or Pasta because that swells in my stomach and I don't like the feeling.

MeGustaGuacamole got a reaction from ProudGrammy in AFTER SURGERY SLEEPING PROBLEMS
    Hello Everyone!
I've never had a sleeping problem even before surgery, BUT now I seem to have developed one. I always slept on my tummy, it's so comforting and of course after surgery I had to adapt sleeping on my back and struggled getting any sleep. It got to the point were I had to drink more of my medicine in order to knockout. I tried sleeping side ways with tons of pillows and made it somewhat better so that was my go to position most of the time. When I was 3 weeks out I tested sleeping on my tummy and there was no discomfort, I believe tears of joy came out LOL Monday 9/19/16 was the first night I tried sleeping on my tummy and I kept waking up between 2am and 4am. I woke up so shocked and confused. I also kept having nightmares, surreal feeling nightmares. this has been going on for 4 days now. I feel like I'm on an ongoing never ending loop. its creepy.
So I guess my question is, has anyone experienced any discomfort after surgery or anything unusual/different with sleep? because this girl is freaking out!

MeGustaGuacamole reacted to AmyInOrlando in lump sensation in my throat
I had that feeling for the first 6 weeks. I was told it was because of the Hiatal Hernia repair I had during my VSG. Now it's gone.... but it does occur periodically if I've eaten too quickly or don't chew thoroughly. The only thing that helps is walking.

I was having exactly the same problem. I thought it was related to thrush (that appeared about 10 days post op) but the thrush cleared up and the lump stayed. I decided to try an allergy pill and took a Zyrtec. The lump was gone by morning. I have taken it daily since and had nothing. I think I was having post nasal drip, after surgery I had a week of crazy runny noses and sneezing. Not sure if you take anything but it never hurts to give it a try. You can get generic for $.89 at Walmart. And just FYI I described my lump as having a cotton ball in my throat, I wanted to cough up something that wasn't there.

I am 3+ months out. I have lost 45 lbs. I only told my husband and my sister. I am very close to my sister and trust her not to tell anyone else, but to be honest I wish I hadn't told her. Every conversation we have now she wants to know "how much have you lost" "what size are you now"? It gets so annoying, esp. Since I'm in a stall for 3 wks. I miss just talking to her about normal things like we used to. I don't want to talk about my weight at all and am very private about it. Think carefully before you tell ANYONE if you are also a private person who doesn't want to have the main conversation always centered around how much weight you have lost etc. Because you can never 'untell' or really know how many people those you tell will share your news with.

I only told my sister, my best friend and my other friend who got the same sleeve done. My mom was the last person who i would tell. She is very judgmental and such a gossip girl. when i go over she does wonder how im loosing weight so fast but i give her the same "diet & exercise" bone. i feel the less you tell people, the less they monitor you. my friend said when he told his coworkers, all they did was monitor what he ate like if they were all nutritionist. i feel like people will also judge you.
i had this incident happen to me a week ago. I went to my friends house after work to catch up. as i walk in to her house, im looking for her and she gets excited when she sees me, so we hug and i notice a lady sitting at the dinning table. i whisper "whos that?" "oh she does my nail refill bi-weekly after work" i look back at her, smile and wave hello. she literally disregards me and walks by to say shes leaving. i didn't know what her problem was so i just made myself at home and grabbed a drink. thinking she was gone i went looking for my friend. she was still talking to the rude lady at the door, as i turn around i started coughing really bad, i was 2 weeks out, and took a big gulp without thinking. my friend quickly turned around and panicked asking if i was okay and i was assuring her that i was fine. the rude lady acted like she cared and asked her what was going on. my friend accidently told her "oh no she okay, she just cant take big sips her tummy is small" i looked at her so mad. everything gets awkward and the rude lady says "wow people who get that surgery are ridiculous" maaaaan i jumped back at her too quick "people that don't know what they're talking about are ridiculous, you don't know the struggle of trying to be fit and trying to better yourself, you don't know how this surgery changes peoples habits for the better, so if you don't know what the f*ck you're talking about just shut the f*ck up" she gets annoyed and storms off. that day i learned to keep my business on the low. a lot of people wont understand.

You tell one "friend" and probably 20 people will be discussing you. NAture of gossiping women and men. Three years of reading these posts have confirmed it.
