    Hello all,

Been a long time since I was here. Lots going on. on 20 Oct 2019 it will be 3 years since my RNY surgery. I have a checkup with my bariatric surgeon today. It is supposed to be every year, but since the emergency surgery last year it has been every six months. I have stopped going to support group (I think it is great but I am not getting anything out of it). I am still about 155 lbs and am pretty happy. Still have sugar issues, but everything else is ok (per blood tests). I get to go next month for the MRCP on my pancreas (I am hoping the IPMN hasn't grown).

I flew from Detroit to Pharr, TX a couple of weeks ago to pick up a Mazda MX5 (my dad gave it to me, he can't drive it anymore), and drove it 1700 miles back to Detroit. Then a little over a week later my wife's brother was killed in an automobile accident. I drove about 500 miles (from Detroit to Carthage, NY) last Thursday (so I could be at his service) and got up the next morning and drove about 500 miles back to Detroit.

Not really feeling it anymore, this is probably going to be my last time seeing my surgeon. I don't need to pay him $40 to have him tell me I am doing fine. I know how I am doing.

I hope everyone is doing well.

    Frust8,
Your doing an amazing job and your so supportive of everyone on this forum.
My favorite part so is going from a 22w-24w to a 12/14 ladies jeans and not struggle to get in them. Going from a 2x to a L in blouses and all the compliments from my family.
It's hard for me to see the difference although 87lbs is about half of what I want to lose.
But I will accomplish this, I can do this and one day I am going to look in the mirror and say I got this!!!

I had mine on July 16th and so far no reflux thankfully. But I will see once they take me off zegrid and Carafate. I no longer have to take zantac or GI cocktail.

Had my revision to RNY yesterday. Surgery went well and they also fixed a pretty large Hiatal hernia. Water is going down fine. I keep sleeping with my mouth open & it is royally drying my mouth out. They gave me an anti nausea patch behind my ear that is working like a charm . The pain is also different from when I had the sleeve. More gas in my chest this time & it feels like I did 8million sit-ups, but I know each day will get better. To all those getting revision- make sure you walk laps around the floor and definitely take the main meds. They work! And make sure you ask for sugar free popsicles !
I assume the Dr is going to make me stay an extra night but not sure.
Happy I am finally through it and on the road to no more GERD.
Good luck to all who will also be going through this!🍀

The most important thing is high quality Protein powder with at least 80% protein.
Either concentrate or isolate or casein or a combination of them is fine just be wary of added sugars and some bad additives.
Most decent protein powders will come with added amino acids and such and will mix easily with a shaker cup.
The WPI I buy is 90% so 30g serve is 27g protein.
The WPC is 80% or 25g per 30g serve
It has a whole list of amino acids like Luecine
There are some brands that are absolute junk so be careful

I was sick and couldn't tolerate anything but fluids for over 1 month. My surgeon was all over this I had to see him weekly. They said after 3 months if there wasn't any improvement I had to have a scope looking for ulcers or strictures. Also with any complication they said picture yourself as going backwards and start back at post open day 1. Best advice they had for every 1gm of Protein it equals 4 calories. So when you feel like carp it's because look at how many calories you had that day. They also changed meds on me I was taking omeprazole 2 a day and 300mg of Zantac at bedtime so there was no acid in my stomachs at all. Only concern for them was fluids and protein and just give your body time. Now I am 2.5 months out and still just about 45gms of protein a day and 1500cc of fluids a day. Your poor body went through hell with the infection you must have used up everything you had just to heal. No wonder you feel so weak and sick. So start back at square one and treat your pouch as a new born belly. Concentrate on fluids and protein amounts. Protein premier makes a clear Liquid Protein drink that's like 20gm a bottle so counts as fluids and protein. Some days I am lucky enough to get 2 down. I am so sorry you are going through this it's so hard to feel sick and tired all the time. Have you thought of a Gastroenterologist consult so they can go down and see if there is a fissure, strictures, ulcer? Good luck keep the site updated on how you are.....

I'd talk to the surgeon who did your surgery. Getting sick right after you eat could be a stricture.

So sorry to hear about the pain your having.
I had my surgery 2 days before you and haven't had any of those kind of issues.
I am slightly constipated and was very weak to the point of passing out. Some nausea but never to the point of vomiting.
I can't possibly be dehydrated because I drink at least 6 ,16 oz bottles of Water a day.
If you keep feeling this way call your Dr. back.
    Hopefully you feel better soon.

Yeah my surgeon knew I had reflux but said he thought sleeve surgery was the best thing for me. Ummm no, he could not of been more wrong.
But I know that anyone else who has it should never choose sleeve surgery because what I have discovered is that the acids have nowhere to go but back up.
With the RNY revision surgery they bypass the small intestine so the acids and foods can't go back up.
Im only 8 days from the surgery now.
I will post after my surgery.
    Good luck

    Hi Astrid,
I'm not sure what the difference between UK and US is either lol.
Anyway good luck with your journey as well and I think that while being independent is great like Mikey but it's nice to have some go to ppl that you know can relate to what you are going through.
My revision surgery from sleeve to RNY is due to the reflux getting worse than it was before I had sleeve surgery.
Although it's more surgery and a harder surgery according to my gastrointestinal doctor and my surgeon, it's apparently the only hope I have to fix the severe GERD (reflux disease).
I'm so glad I have only 11 days to go but wound up at the Urgent care yesterday with 101.2 temperature due to a ear infection and am getting a summer cold.
So I am now on a ZPak of antibiotics and cold medicine trying to kick it before surgery.
I am not about to reschedule if I can do anything fo avoid it.
    Have a great weekend.
