Just going to throw this out there...

First, I have no idea the scenerio or the players that you are referring to, so I am definitely not taking your words personally.
I will tell you that I, personally, am the exact same in person as I am behind my computer. I don't curse at people, I don't call names, but I am fairly blunt and opinionated. I am not a warm and fuzzy person by nature so while my intent may be genuinely caring, some people take me as too direct or harsh.

Please remember that you cannot read tone on the internet. What you want to interpret as an "attack" may well have been meant as constructive criticism. What you take as nice, might be what others take as pandering. I can honestly say that what you've communicated as your desires above on these boards would deter me.

I don't always want encouragement, especially if I make a bad choice. I don't want or need "in the nicest way" because at times, I really need a kick in the pants. I prefer someone tell me how it is rather than patronize to my feelz.

I rarely consider people "mean" because a stranger's words on the internet do not affect me personally. The only time they seriously p!ss me off is when they start in with name calling and personal attacks towards others. I seriously don't even care if they are calling ME names. I find that humorous and very telling of their character.

We are all very different in the way we communicate AND in the way we interpret. I rarely block and I rarely report. I appreciate disagreements, banter and debate. It's how **I** learn and grow.

Once it gets PERSONAL, the problem starts and the blocking begins.

You've lost 37 pounds-that's amazing!! You had your surgery 2.5 weeks before me and since my surgery I've lost 30. Ive been told that average loss is around 10 pounds / month. That means some months may be more, but some will def be less. Follow your plan and be kind to yourself-you've done great so far!

I took three weeks, and I'm very glad I did!
You may want to look into what FMLA means at your facility. For me is it only protection of my position, I would still have to use my accrued time for pay.
    I wish you the best!!

Normally, I'm a daily/every other day weigher--I like to see what my body is doing. BUT, I hit the dreaded 3 week stall, and suddenly couldn't handle the stress. (I couldn't eat less, I was on my program 100%.)
So, I decided only to record my weight on my monthly surgerversary. Letting go a little and trusting the process worked wonders for my peace of mind. I still peek if I'm curious, but I don't get down about it. Once I hit maintenance, or am able to eat more normally, I will probably watch the scale closer.

I did have a "funeral" for a few items before I started my liquid diet. Honestly, I shouldn't have. The funeral is a hoax because the food still exists!! Having it "one last time" does not make you want it any less.
I'm 7 weeks out from VSG and I'm concentrating so much on eating the right things and learning what my stomach is okay with that I don't worry too much about my old foods. Truly, I can imagine how sick I would feel if I ate junk that the idea completely turns me off. Once in a while I get down about the loss of freedom. I can never just eat something and not think about it. I've been a little sad about that.
No regrets, this has been the best thing I've done for myself. Good luck to you in your journey!

Look in the sub forum "don't sweat the stall stuff"--very informative and so many examples. I just came out of my 3 week stall (lasted about that long too), but I'm losing again, so no worries, you can do this!!

The liquid diet was the hardest phase for me! I did not think of chewing and spitting, not sure I could've kept myself from swallowing, and then I'm sure I would have busted the whole diet.
You can get through this most difficult phase....it will get better!!

I literally started crying when I read all of your comments thank you to each and every one of you for taking the time to comment. The nausea has been severe I have to take phenergan suppositories it's so bad. I should be on soft foods by now but the doctor kept me in full liquids until the nausea gets under control. I do have an auto immune disorder so that may be hindering my progress. It's just difficult trying to get the liquids down when you are trying to keep from up chucking everything????. I just want to feel a little normal. If I drink anything it has to be ice cold or I'm nauseous. I'm usually pretty positive and I did this to save my life I just want to feel a little more normal. I did have a slow start I was in the hospital 10 days just because of the nausea. Thank you guys for your encouragement!

So, I'm 6 months out and I think the word 'regret' maybe gets used more than it should in the early post-op period. I felt like CRAP for a solid week, and then pretty weird for at least 6 weeks. I would have preferred to NOT feel that way, but it wasn't regret per se, it was more of a fatigue from the endless food planning, Protein counting, mild nausea, etc. It's HARD in the beginning and I don't think any of us can imagine what that 'hard' is like until it happens to us. It SUCKS, quite frankly, and around 4-6 weeks it becomes crystal clear just how much our life is going to change regarding eating and food and it's a bit of a shock when your brain really gets it.
Your additional lactose intolerance must be making this all even harder and I'm so sorry you're dealing with it in addition to all of the rest, but you'll work it out and one day, it won't be so hard any more. Where are you in your food advancement? Are you on soft foods yet? If so, there are things you can eat that aren't dairy that will up your calories and Protein and will help you feel better. One reason you're not feeling especially good is that you're still at a very low calorie count. Are you getting all your protein grams in? Are you able to drink 64 oz of Water daily? The protein + Water are the bare minimum necessary for you to heal and feel human. Let us know what you're eating daily and we might be able to make some suggestions for things that will help you out.
You can do this, even if it sucks right now

I agree that not all fat people who seek WLS are food addicts, but I can tell you that without a doubt, not everyone who is on a month long liquid diet considers chewing and spitting.
I never considered it once as a fat person. It's extremely dangerous and a very slippery slope towards a real eating disorder. When you chew (or lick), your digestive system starts producing acid in anticipation of real food hitting your tummy in a few moments. When that doesn't happen, the excess acid is still hanging out with nothing to break down, so being bored, it works it's magic on the lining of your stomach. This could be ulcer territory you are headed into.
Chewing and spitting is also a mild form of bulimia.
    No LOL about that.

The food is not going anywhere. No need for funerals.
The surgery is not magic, either.
If you don't change your thinking then you'll struggle with weight forever....post op as well.
Now is the time to be getting your mind wrapped around a new lifestyle...not being concerned over specific foods. If you don't fix your thinking then the surgery is simply a colossal waste of time and money.

I will not miss being scared to take a nap for fear the whole house will hear me snoring. I will not miss the pain that came from walking out my house to my car (the less then a 1 minute Walk ) I say dear friend you did not do me well at all so i bid farewell to the 400s and i say to the 300s don't get comfortable i've started the eviction paperwork on you for you must leave me soon as well!!!!

I am having the same problem. Surgery 11/7, SW 240 and I've been hovering at 215 for about two weeks. I think this is the "three week stall that has been written about a lot. There is even a sub-forum called "Don't sweat the stall stuff". Take a look at the threads there, it will help.
Basically stick with your program--we're too early on to have had drinks, bread, or sugar. You're body will "adjust" to your very fast weight loss and begin losing again when it's ready.

Yes, it gets better! First do everything you can to get as much Water as you can--popsicles, ice chips, etc. Second, make sure you walk to move the gas out easier. If you can find Mylanta mini's, these helped me tremendously. Finally, hopefully you have taken time off of work, etc to heal. Take really gentle care of yourself and concentrate on walking and sipping. I wish you well!
