lvmyrottnlab reacted to AlbaGuBrath in 4 months out, before and afters...and NSVs galore. Best thing I have EVER done
So...4 months out and (almost) 4 stones down...the before and after photos are at 3 stone off, I look SO different again, just need to take a pic.

I have lost 12 inches off my waist and 14 off my 'mum tum' (its flabby flap has gone from 3 inches of sag to under 1/2)

I am lighter than my other half...therefore no longer the heaviest in the house *high 5*

I have lost the combined weight of my 4 year old, the cat and 2 of our hens

    I buy a UK size 16 off the peg (previously a 22)

I have just applied for and got a job which I wouldn't have dreamed of even applying for 5 months ago...start tomorrow eek!

My 4 teens are super proud of my new look and (though they aren't consciously doing it) are actively spending more time with me around their friends...and my 4 year old is thrilled with my new energy levels.

I'm away to take climbing instruction and have joined 2 groups to learn that and ukulele...and am involved with sorting a 20yr reunion for my high school (a stark contrast from my previous very anti-social self)

I have legs...really nice ones...I have always totally viewed them as my worst asset and had no idea that these shapely beings existed beneath my previous tree trunks.

My boobs are no longer my best asset...this really worried me pre-op as I was massively defined by them...you know what??? I don't care (and neither does he)!

I can go buy vintage clothes...and they fit...and they look amazing (hand knitted 70s dress from a charity shop is my absolute favourite buy)

The skin looseness is nothing like I thought it would be

Learning that food is fuel and not enjoyable is hard and the mental process behind it isn't a nice one...but the feeling of accomplishment helps more than I could have ever believed!

    I love yoga!

This is the best investment I have ever made in myself...I am just so, so happy! yes...there are negatives, but they are far outweighed by all the zillions of good stuff :D

I know to skinny women everywhere, this is no big deal, but to me? I'm shouting to the rooftop. Anyone that is bottom heavy like me knows the struggle. A month ago I could finally cross them but it wasn't a comfortable position since I had to force them to stay crossed. Today, I crossed them and sat comfortably for an hour! Eeekkk! Also, to all those bottom heavy girls, you know this is a big accomplishment

Regarding my stats, my weight loss is kind of slow but it's steady so that is ok by me. However, if only I could lose weight as fast as I'm losing my hair I'd be even more happy!!!

I was exhausted the first month. By the end of month 1, though, I was feeling normal. By the end of month 2, I was starting to feel the effects of the weight loss and I started feeling great.

I am so happy today I was sleeved this time last year on this day at 387 pounds and felt like I was headed to my death bed if I didn't make some changes. This is by far the best decision I have ever made for myself. I hit onederland (199) today as well and have surpassed all of my surgeons expectations. That is a total weight loss of 188 pounds and from a size 32 to a 14 in 1 year never thought I would see the scale for myself under 200 again. I feel great I exercise everyday and I am not dying of starvation! LOL! The best part is I think for the 1st time in my adult life I am truly happy and not just hiding behind a smile.

I had my gastric sleeve done January 11th. I weighed 333.1lbs.
I'm 10 months post op now and weigh 144.2lbs.
I've set new goal weights as I've gone along...first was just to get under 200lbs, then I thought I wanted my goal weight to be 180lbs. When I got there, I made the crazy goal of 150lbs never thinking I'd make it....but I did. So then I figured my goal would be 145lbs which puts me at a normal bmi...which I haven't been since I was around 10.
Now that I weight 144lbs, I've decided my final goal will 133lbs, which will mean I will have lost a total of 200lbs....and I'll do it, I know I can.
I never thought when I had surgery that weighing in the 130's would even be possible.
I've gone from wearing sizes 5-6x, and 28-30, now I wear smalls and mediums and am a size 8....I would be around a 6 if it wasn't for the large amount of skin I have around my stomach and thighs....but it's a price I'm more than happy to pay.
I've been extremely disciplined this whole 10 months. I can honestly say I've never put a bad food in my mouth...not once. I follow a very low carb diet still, drink about 85oz of Water every day and get in around 80oz of Protein. I take all my required Vitamins daily.
The gym has become a big part of my life. I workout around 5-6 days per week doing a variety of exercising....spin class, step  class, yoga, cardio machines....I like doing different things so I don't get bored.
Anyway, because I'm so close to goal, I just wanted to share this. And for the people who have a lot of weight to lose like I did....remember, you can do this! I'm living proof!!

I work and take classes at a university and many people either know me or have seen me.
I was getting some yogurt because I forgot to eat before class and one of the guys who work in the cafeteria just stared at me and was like "wow wow wow, I'm single!" Haha and when he rang me up he said "I'm going to make this last as long as I can, I'm speechless" and he gave me my bills one at a time all the people who worked in the cafeteria were telling me how fabulous I looked
Then I was in the elevator going back up to the classroom and one of the guys who works here ran to the elevator because the doors were still open and he just kinda kept looking at me and he said "are you the same girl that used to work over at the information center?" And I was like yeah and he was like "you've slimmed down, you look great! Doing an amazing job!" He even got out of the elevator even though he was going to a different floor to watch me walk away Hahahaha I've never even met him before
This has really been made me feel so good and is such a confidence booster!
I haven't had guys flirt with me in a very very long time haha and I'm 29 (30 on Saturday!!) and am very single haha it feels really nice

Thank you! After my post (which was rather cathartic to write btw) I did dust myself off and got up and got moving. I backed off the big drugs and decided that I have it in me to do this and just need to focus. I keep trying to remind myself that this part of this journey is just for a brief moment in my life and in a few weeks I will begin reaping the rewards of seeing this through. I would also like to say I really admire how you always give such kind and thoughtful responses to others. I have seen your frequent posts and think we could all learn a lot from your valuable insight.

Im only 5 weeks post op and married for one year (thou we have lived together for 7). I dont think that WLS will change us too much. We are both doing the surgery and we both have been big since we met, though this is the biggest.
There may be some male attention jealously as I have been told I am pretty (while fat) and that "when your skinny you will have cheekbones for days".
Ask me again in a year though.

My husband doesn't want me to have the surgery. When an appointment went a few hours he told me to walk out. I didn't I stayed. This surgery is for you and your health. You have to do this for you. If you can't find support at home find it in friends and others. And support groups. Some people are just afraid of change and might try to talk you out of it.. I pray you do this, do it for you and your health.

First, Congratulations on your surgery!! WELCOME to the Loser's Bench!! When I had my RNY 3 years ago I couldn't go pee either but mine lasted for awhile. I had to be straight cathed 3 times and they removed an IV bag of urine each time. I had no sensation either. I have had surgeries before and never had that problem ever. I think mine is due to my age. LOL Since then I have had my skin removal surgery (PANNI) and the same happened, but I was able to take in more fluids so it only happened once. Now, hon everything you are experiencing is totally normal. You just had major Surgery and hormones are stored in our fat. So as you lose weight our hormones are all over the place IE: Constipation, never wanting Jello again, and wanting to be alone. These are all things that happen following our WLS. Being hot and cold yep been there done that too. You should take your time before going back to work. Again you just had MAJOR SURGERY!!! Stay home learn how different it is going to be. And last but not least IT WILL GET BETTER!! Everything happening right now is a learning time. Learn how to sip walk concentrate on yourself!! Good Luck if you need someone to chat with or have ?'s just let me know!!

It does get better! Get moving, even if slowly. It helps with reduction of pain, and reduces the incidence of complications. Take pain relief regularly to allow you to move. Hydrate. Take care!

It definately gets better. There are so many hormones at play after this surgery and it can make you emotional. You have to dust yourself off, get up and get moving.
Also, I would ask if you are getting all of your liquids. If not, that can make you feel like absolute crap and it wont go away until you take action and get hydrated.
Everyday it should get a little better for you but the first couple of weeks suck. Low energy.....and just all around yuckiness. Also, if you are still taking pain meds, they can cause that hot and cold until you stop taking them for a day or two.

I had gastric bypass surgery on Monday, October 31st. I did my two week pre-op diet without any cheating which amazed me. I didn't know I had that in me. Surgery went well and even though I had some urine retention due to the anesthesia and had to be catheriterized I think I handled it all fairly well. I was released late the next day. My Mom and husband were there to take care of me. I had an allergic reaction to the twice daily Lovanox injections and the doctor told me to cut them out and be sure to get up and walk and do my leg pumps. I don't remember much from that week other than that.
This week has been a whole heck of a lot different. Took my OnQ pump out late last Friday night. Had no clue how much it was helping. Today is my first day since without big pain meds. Had horrible Constipation Monday. Took milk of magnesia and finally had relief. Today I have diarrhea. Yesterday I moved too quickly and felt excruciating pain on my right side incision. Almost passed out from it. Called doctors office and they think I tore an internal suture. Not much to be done but ice it, hold it when moving about and take it easy. I can't find a comfortable temperature. I am either too hot or too cold. I also have to crush meds and have been taking them in SF Jello. I will never want Jello EVER again! I don't feel like talking to anyone, have been home alone this week and on top of all of this, I cry at the drop of a hat. Oh and I thought I would have been back to work already.
Not writing this to scare anyone thinking of having surgery or about to. Just looking for some reassurance that this is normal and it does get better. Feeling angry with myself and wondering what the heck I did.
Thank you in advance for reading this and any advice or reassurance you can pass along.
