  1. Don't be too nervous about the gas pains, it affects everyone differently, I had virtually no gas pain but I'm almost two weeks out and still have terrible pain from my main incision. Everyone is different.
  2. I am almost two weeks out and just went yesterday, I was terribly constipated and had to take miralax and stool softeners for a week straight before I went
  3. I had my surgery on Dec 5, Monday will be two weeks. I have only lost 3 pounds so far and I'm feeling a little discouraged. I average between 700-900 calories a day, I get all my protein and fluids in. I feel absolutely no restriction, I can eat 1/2 cup of soup, cream of wheat, a full 5oz yogurt whatever. Is it possible to fail at this? According to my fitness pal I'm eating way less calories than needed to lose weight so I'm confused and discouraged.
  4. They can refuse you as a patient, doctors are very strict about pre-op diets and protein shakes are expensive, you will likely spend that on a two week supply anyways of something else so I wouldn't refuse, especially if are past the hoops and to the pre- op diet phase.
  5. My doctor required that I buy a certain brand which I could purchase from them or buy online and mine cost 150
  6. I was tested at my pre-op testing appt a week prior to surgery, you need to have quit at least 21 days prior to the test in order to pass
  7. I am exactly one week post op, I started losing about a pound a day then I starting gaining a pound a day and now I am right back to my pre-surgery weight. I'm so frustrated. I have no problems getting in all my liquids and protein, I track my calories and gett anywhere from 600- 900 calories a day. I'm on full liquids, I have not cheated, but I also have no restriction, I can easily finish the whole container of yogurt when I eat. Any advice
  8. I have severe depression and a severe anxiety disorder with PTSD, I was cleared for surgery, I also have a long history of being hospitalized for my conditions. But it ha been nearly two years since I was hospitalized and I have been through a ton of therapy, the psychologist just wanted to see that I was now stable on my Meds and not being hospitalized all the time and he asked for a letter of recommendation from my psychiatrist. But I had my surgery last Monday dec 5
  9. I was sleeved on Monday dec 5 , since then I have had no problems getting all my fluids and proteins in at all. I don't feel full and I don't have any trouble swallowing. I eat cream of wheat for breakfast , a protein shake for snack, a cream soup for lunch another protein shake for snack and usually some more soup for dinner with some unflavored protein powder in it. If I want I may have some yogurt or pudding later in the evening. Is this too much? I don't feel uncomfortably full at all, I don't really feel a restriction when eating although I am measuring my portions to stay on plan, I just see all these people having all the problems and only getting in like 400 calories where I am easily getting in 700-900 calories a day. Help am I doing something wrong?
  10. I have not a whole lot of walking and that has helped with the gas pain but not the stomach pain or the incision pain, so the doctor prescribed dilaudid today for me to go home on since that is working much better
  11. Well surgery was yesterday. I am still in the hospital for now with a little nausea and a whole lot of pain, I'm jus glad the surgery part is overwith!
  12. Sorry I meant to reply under there. You should take your PPI for up to a year following surgery
  13. That's a thought, I stopped taking my prilosec, maybe I should start them up again. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using the BariatricPal App
  14. My dr does full liquids from the moment you are home, so I have creamed soups to strain, sf pudding and pinkos triple zero yogurt stocked up for at least the first week. My surgery is tomorrow. Dec 5
  15. Yes my surgery is on Monday the 5th
  16. Mine is on Monday is Phoenix Az
  17. @@LipstickLady thank you for your reply, yes I have a counselor, I have not talked to my doctor yet, but I am afraid that he will want to reschedule the surgery which could make me have to go through the approval process all over again with it being so late in the year and my insurance changing. Yes I do feel that I am ready for the surgery, I have been preparing for months, I just got sidetracked with some extreme circumstances this week. I would never do anything after surgery to jeopardize my safety by going off the prescribed diet I know how dangerous it is. But thank you for reminding me of the severity of my lack in judgement this week.
  18. I am on day 7 of my 2 week pre-op diet, I did well the first three days of the diet, then I did extremely bad for three days while I was extremely busy and stressed out and I admit I just completely threw the diet out the window for those three days, I was supposed to be on all liquids, and I did more than just eat solid foods, I ate fast food for most of those three days, now I feel awful about it and I feel like I have sabotaged my surgery, I don't know what I can do other than be good for the rest of the diet because if I postpone the surgery then it probably won't be in the month of December and then my insurance is changing so I would have to go through approval all over again, so I feel like all I can do is be good for the full second week and one day left before surgery. Surgery is a week from Monday. Is one week even enough time to make my liver ok for surgery?
  19. Actually I will be on my pre-op diet on Thanksgiving this year so I am opting to not go to the family Thanksgiving this year to avoid the temptation, I know if I go I will give in to mash potatoes and gravy.
  20. I had a hysterectomy last year and take hormones because of that. I get extremely depressed without the hormones and I have a history of severe depression. So I never even thought about it but was surprised to find that I had to stop taking my hormones 1 month prior to surgery, I found out 1 day before I had to stop taking them when I was reading over my packet from the surgeon again. So I reluctantly stopped taking them. My surgery is Dec 5 but my depression is already growing worse by the day, I'm not sure what to do
  21. To be honest I don't understand what all the big fuss is about, I replied to the OP in earnest and asked why he did something so dangerous and then posted it in a joking tone and even though I wanted to call him some choice names at the time I refrained from doing so. My surgery is on Dec 5 and if I do something so stupid and life threatening I sure hope someone hands me some tough love rather than coddles me.
  22. Ok so let me just preface this by saying I am pre-op still, but I can't say that I really understand, I mean you write that post like it was some joke, that it was somehow funny that you tried to eat that so early post op, it's really not that funny. Do you know why it caused you so much pain? Because it's actually dangerous for you to be eating like that right now. I mean what would possess you to do that? I'm just curious because the dangers of not following the proper stages of eating post op scare me so I think I would be too scared and I definitely wouldn't joke about it
  23. I think it all depends on what your insurance and your doctor requires because my insurance didn't require any medically supervised weight loss so I didn't have to do the standard 3-6 months of weight loss tracking. My first appointment was on Sep 9 and my surgery is on Dec 5, I could of had it the second week of November but there were some scheduling conflicts, so for me less than 3 months
  24. My surgery is on Dec 5, so I will be on my pre-op diet on Thanksgiving and I am not going this year because I know that if I go my diet will go straight out the door
  25. Well one I know first hand that quitting smoking sucks, for me I had no choice because my surgeon does a nicotine test at pre-op, I'm surprised yours doesn't , it's pretty standard now. 2 it is likely that you feel weaker at first eating less calories than you are used to but at least you can eat lol, I would give anything to be able to eat 800 calories but my pre-op is an all liquid diet for 2 weeks all I can say is make sure you stay hydrated during your diet and keep your electrolytes up with some powerade zero or Gatorade g2 so they are sugar free.
