  1. @@smills7382 after my seminar I just called the next morning and scheduled my initial consultation, they said they would call me within a week but I was not waiting anymore, I was persistent but I got my appointment
  2. @cassandra- I have had some lucid dreams with it but that's it, no sleepwalking or anything like that
  3. I just quit a few days ago on chantix. Still want a cigarette but I'm not going nuts for one no physical craving really, it's just the ritual of smoking that I'm missing, going outside, having those five minutes away from the world all to myself while smoking was my favorite. But here I am 2 days smoke free
  4. Hi all I'm so glad you spoke up so we can keep tabs on each other throughout this process
  5. I just quit and yeah I am dying for one sigh
  6. Glad to find some other newbies like me, we can keep tabs on each other as we go through this process
  7. I am being treated for major depression and it is mostly under control with my medication but I am worried that psych won't approve me because there is the chance that the surgery will bring on a depressive episode. Any advice on how I handle this line of questioning? I'm really good at managing my depression, I know when it is within acceptable limits and I can identify when it's not and when I need help. I have been in therapy for years for it. So any advice?
  8. I see so many people here who are almost done with their requirements or already had surgery. Is anyone else here just starting? I have my initial consultation and nut visit on Aug 10 and my insurance requires 6 months MSWL. Just wondering if I have any buddies that are just starting with me.
  9. I just went to my informational seminar and I asked exactly this question. My surgeon said not for the first three months but after that I could take them if needed.
  10. I seen allot about giving up diet soda on the boards today and I was just wondering what the reasoning behind giving it up is, diet Pepsi has no calories, no carbs, no sugar. Is it just the carbonation? Just curious I'm new to all this, my initial consult is Aug 10 and I have to do 6 months.
  11. I was wondering if anyone has been to Banner Gateway Bariatric with Dr Graf before and what you thought of him and their program, I have my initial consultation on Aug 10
  12. Thank you all for the record replies, I realize this is up to me to make the changes and I am committed to doing exactly that. I'm not worried about my surgeons skills he's a world renowned surgeon, I think he was just trying to drive home the point that this really is up to me. He described the first year as your grace period where it is easy to lose and said after that it is up to you to maintain it and stick with the program. I will do this.
  13. I went to my informational seminar tonight and the surgeon said 30-40 percent of sleeve patients regain their weight. That scared me, it seems like a really high number. I'm scared I will fail at this. Anyone else hear these numbers and get scared? If so how are you managing that fear. I'm committed to doing this and doing it right but I must admit this has my head spinning.
  14. Congrats and good luck, I'm actually jealous as I am just starting this process
  15. Ok so I am new here and just beginning this process. I have a limited income so my 6 months of appts will be spent saving money for all the supplements I will need for a while. I have been reading allot of posts and I was wondering what is Isopure, is that a protein drink and if not what are the best no fuss protein drinks to consider.
  16. How cool maybe we could meet halfway for a non fat coffee
  17. Where are you in AZ? I live in Maricopa about 40 minutes outside phoenix
  18. I am going to banner gateway in Gilbert, that's who my pup referred me to, but I have heard that Phoenix barometric center with dr Kurt springer is good too
  19. Remember that you are going through some serious hormonal changes and that can skew your perspective. Ask yourself if your husband a good and loving man. If the answer is yes then give him a chance, maybe you just need to let him get to know the new you that you have created. Above all remember that this too shall pass, your feelings and emotions will level out, you just have to be patient with yourself and your husband.
  20. Congrats, I'm jealous lol, I'm just starting this whole process
  21. I was leaning towards bypass. My surgeon had a number of serious, real deal, no kidding, rubber meets the road type conversations with me and urged me to reconsider. He stressed that I'd benefit from the sleeve due to the ability to take the NSAID's and other meds for arthritis and pain in the future. I listened to him. I'm damn glad I did. This is a decision that you need to make after much contemplation and accurate information shared by your surgeon.....seek second opinions (I did, too) and be informed. Whichever way you go.....embrace that and nothing else. Stay strict to your specific plan and enjoy the results.
  22. My father had bypass about ten years ago, he has regained a little weight so he is not super skinny anymore but it is nothing like he was before, he weighed over 450 pounds then. He goes back and forth he gains some and then loses some but is still healthy. He still feels the effect of surgery, he still gets the dumping syndrome. I myself am going to have the sleeve I think but I just thought I would share my fathers story with you
  23. Vaping just did not work for me, I went back to cigarettes, but I'm now taking chantix and should be completely off cigarettes in four days
  24. I think I'm really leaning towards sleeve so I want to have my arsenal of reasons why in case he recommends bypass instead
