This might sound counter productive, and check with your doc, but when I did 14 months on my liquid diet we would run into these phases and sometimes the trick is to slightly increase your caloric intake.
The body is freaking out, it might give up more energy/weight if you feed it a few more calories.
Also make sure you are hitting your Water goals, and then some.
Check sodium levels on your food and make sure the levels are good so you don't retain too much.
And keep moving, walk walk walk walk! Lol!!
Hang in there, it WILL start dropping again.

    Thanks, friends.
My husband heard me having words with the scale and came in and asked what was wrong. I told him, in very colorful language- that I am not incredibly proud of, about going 7 days and not moving AT ALL. He looked at me and said "wow, wouldn't that be something if that's all you got out of this." OMG!
Although I know he was joking and my threats to end his life were also in jest. I can't say I didn't have that thought (all this for 23 pound!).
But you'd all support me, right? If I off-ed him, on the evidence of that comment (alone) as motive!

I had a 4-week pre-op diet and felt weak during the second week into it, but my body adjusted once into ketosis. I also had diarrhea sometime between the first and second week. Again, this is due to the transition from a carbohydrate heavy diet to a low carb diet. Once in ketosis, this subsides... You'll get through it and do great!

Does your insurance not cover surgery here in the states? I ask because it would help you and your family to understand why bariatric surgery is necessary.
Many times they dont get that not having the surgery could be even more dangerous than having it. Obesity is a metabolic disease that if treated properly can be cured.
I know it was very important for my husband to go with me to my second appointment so that he understood why it was most critical.
I had to take the time with my grown boys to also help them understand that without surgery I would likely fail to keep the weight off after losing it.
Just take some time with them and help them understand your reasons for having surgery.
As far as Mexico goes, that is a personal decision and I dont believe it is like Iraq for petes sake.
That being said, for follow up reasons if you can have your surgery here in the US the better off you are. Just my opinion!

Don't worry about Mexico. No additional organs were harvested from me and we were treated like family. Better care there than anything we have received in the states. I'm more willing to go back there and have surgery than to get a flu shot here.

Don't let anyone or anything stand in your way of your health and happiness!! It is a personal choice. And you will be the one that has to do it yourself. I would at least try to convince someone to go with you to Mexico tho. Not because it can't be done alone but because you will just need someone to get the items you need. My hubby had his Sleeve in June. We went a day early and stayed a day later in a Motel just in case. I had to go get him broth and juice. When you return on your flight call ahead and tell them you need assistance to get around. They are wonderful and will have a wheelchair to take you in. You won't have to stand around for customs or have to wait to board your airplane. The surgeon he had was good but....their customs in Juarez, Mexico no way near as great as the US. I have heard great things about Tijuana, Mexico. And as was said earlier BARIATRIC PAL has great programs. Good Luck in whatever you decide you want to do!!!

I am also shocked that your GP said you don't need it. Mine was almost giddy when i told her I was getting it and I had a BMI of about 42 at the time. She went down the list of things on my blood work etc and it was basically....this will be fixed after surgery...and this will be fixed after surgery ...and this should get better etc.
As for family...I think that is coming from a place of fear and worry. Hopefully they will come around. You are doing this for your health. I for one, want to be around to see my 7 year old get married, have kids etc. etc.

A BMI of 47.5 more than qualifies you for surgery and it is much better to deal with obesity now before you get a lot of obesity related health issues. You don't want to do like I did and wait until I had almost uncontrollable high blood pressure, excruciating joint and spine pain and greatly reduced mobility. I doubt your family would want those things for you either. At the end of the day, this is a personal decision between you and your surgeon. While I had my surgery in the states since my insurance would cover it, from what I've read on here the program that bariatric pal helps coordinate in Mexico is quite good and there are a lot of people on here who have used it.
I do agree it would be best to have someone travel with you - not because it is mexico but just in general traveling a distance for surgery by yourself would be hard but not undoable.
I've very surprised your primary doc says surgery is unnecessary at your BMI. But why does your family say that? Have you discussed with them the impact of obesity on your life? As well as the impact of years of yo-yoing weight loss and weight gain?
And lastly - you are not alone - everyone here understands and supports you.

Your BMI is high enough to qualify for surgery. Losing weight and keeping it off is extremely difficult. I encourage you to explain the health complications that come along with morbid obesity. If you weigh 280 - you have more than 100 lbs to lose. That's not exactly "not needing surgery".

I would say it was a success . ...I wanted to share for those awaiting their surgery
The anesthesia was good, I was joking with the surgical staff then next I was waking up in recovery.
I have a pain pump....not using it excessively. I have not been allowed to sip yet....the dry mouth is no joke! ha ha. I have a swab and ice Water...so that is a plus.
I'm not nauseous....no pain...no gas pressure (yet) I did get up and urinated.
I washed my face, brushed my teeth and hair....I actually feel human again!
I did get an abdominal band....this is a good thing to have.
all is well......hope you don't mind the ramblings....hey, I AM medicated. haha

In my program everything that a spoon can't stand up in is a liquid, so yogurt may not be a cheat at all depending on what the OP has been told.
I am surprised that people don't pay more attention, have a list of approved foods on the fridge, and go shopping before the surgery. My surgery is next Monday and you better believe I am going to stock up on everything I am allowed to eat. Even if I don't feel hungry I know I am going to be weak and shaky with such a low amount of calories going in. I know I am going to have to take it slow but you better believe I am going to try anything and everything my team says is okay as soon as they say it's okay.
