Omieliz reacted to LittleBill in What did you replace food with?
When I started out, the doc said I had to quit smoking (my pipe and cigars), quit drinking (bourbon), and quit eating (food). I asked, "What's left!?!" So now I spend more time chasing Mrs. LittleBill around. Hey, at least it's exercise.

Omieliz got a reaction from mschan218 in What do you miss or think you will miss about being obese?
I will honestly miss, the small sum of money I spent yearly on clothes since I HATED clothes shopping. It was so depressing to see myself in all those mirrors in clothes that were as big as tents.
Now that the lard is shedding, my pocket book is shrinking with all the clothes and shoe shopping replacements. On the other hand, I've learned I rather like clothes and shoe shopping - plus, I really take in the steps going from store to store!

Omieliz reacted to Jobey in Greetings from Sydney, Australia
I'm in Australia too, Qld I use MyFitnessPal and love it for tracking Protein and calories. I'm 5 months out and 17kg or 37.5lbs from my goal. I've noticed that the closer I get to my goal the more my weight loss has slowed. From about 5-10kg or 11-22lbs a month in the first 3 months to about 2-3kg or 4.5-6.5lbs a month now. But it feels like the shape of my body is changing all the time. Did you take measurements when you started? I still take them about once a month.
HW - 140kg or 308lbs
SW - 132.5kg or 291.5lbs
CW - 92kg or 202.5lbs

Omieliz reacted to LipstickLady in Low Carb Pasta
I poke the crap out of one with a fork, toss it in the microwave for 10-15 minutes depending on size, turn it over and nuke it for another five. (Put it on a paper plate for easier clean up.) Once it has caved, cut it in half, scoop out the seeds and then scoop out the strands.
Add olive oil, salt, pepper, Parmesan or red sauce. Or, use it as the rice under stir fry. Delish.

Omieliz reacted to sk101 in NSV's that no one talks about?
Ok
It seems the that on here there are no taboo's when talking about weight loss
Men discuss the possibility of becoming the next BIG thing in the porn industry and women discuss needing more support in the breast department and so on
However
I have noticed another NSV that seems to have been missed or not suffered by others on here!!!!!
I can now wipe my bum without having to dislocate my shoulder to do it
Wooooo Hooooo

Omieliz got a reaction from Bufflehead in What's your diet like after your pouch heals?
I'm officially twelve weeks out today. Honestly, my calories vary daily. Some days, I just can barely eat a thing, and I barely get in 60 grams of Protein. My cals on bad days are around 450-500. Normally, however, I hit about 650-700 cals a day.
Morning: I eat NF Fage yogurt 4 oz) or a one egg omelette with cherry peppers and a tablespoon of mozzarella cheese.
Premier Protein shake
Lunch: 2 ozs of tuna (Trader Joe's Sriracha tuna salad or 2 oz of the tuna pouch packets or 2 oz of chicken breast or 2 oz of Trader Joe's sriracha baked tofu or 2 oz of Trader Joe's less guilt chicken salad; an oz or two of a green veggie - normally broccoli or string Beans - or a small broccolini salad. A mini baby bell mozzarella cheese melted on broccoli or cauliflower.
Low fat moolicous string cheese
dinner is normally a repeat of lunch
That's a typical day - sometimes I'll have a couple of apple slices, but I try to stay away from fruit. The sugar makes me crave more sugar.

Omieliz reacted to Bufflehead in Failure/Failing
The only way for most of us to stop craving high carb or high sugar foods is to stop eating them. It's hard to do! Here is what I do when I find myself going off the rails with high carb or high sugar foods:
1. Get all of those "off plan" foods out of the house. You can't be tempted by them if they aren't there. If there are other people you live with, well, no one *needs* crackers or frozen waffles or chips or Cookies. If they want to eat that crap, they can do it outside the house at least for a little while.
2. For five days, eat nothing but unprocessed meats (no deli/lunch meat, bacon, sausage, or jerky), green veggies, healthy fats (olive oil, grass fed butter), eggs, herbs and spices. No sauces, no cheese, nothing like that. But for those five days, you get to eat as much as you want, whenever you want! That way there is no way you can experience actual hunger. This will help you re-learn the difference between hunger and cravings, and it will also help you re-establish your restriction.
3. For those five days, no liquid calories and especially no artificial sweeteners. This will help banish your cravings for sweets and carbs.
4. At the end of the five days, commit to logging all of my food intake on myfitnesspal. Set a calorie goal that will keep me in a caloric deficit.
5. Plan my food intake at the beginning of each day and pre-log it in myfitnesspal. This helps when I get hungry in between meals or Snacks. I can remind myself: "yes, I am hungry now, it is no fun to be hungry, but I am not going to starve. I will eat an apple and some turkey Jerky in a couple of hours and I can wait until then."
Yes, this involves some planning, work, and change. But unfortunately at least for me there are no shortcuts or magic potions or tricks. If I stick it out, it works. Good luck!
