What an absolute inspiration you are to me. You started at a similar weight and size as I have, and I've been dreaming about running for nearly two decades now. You look fabulous and I hope you also feel fabulous, too.
I think you hit the nail on the head in the subject matter of your post "Still seeing the old me." It can be hard to look at accomplishments and see how far you've come. You're not alone in feeling that way. I heard another woman talking about the same things your expressing when I was at a bariatric support meeting. The counselor said that sometimes, people go through a grieving phase after they've successfully lost their weight.
If that's what you're going through, just know you're not alone and reaching out like you have with your thread, is an excellent way to get some support.
Thank you for posting. I hope to be as successful as you are

It really warms my heart if I have had any impact... So first, the scar came because I started coaching early and tore my incision, but I did have the sleeve. Lol. I was so excited and motivated to be the skinny guy inside, I started right away and never looked back. So, 3 weeks after surgery, I was throwing cutoff drills at my sons practice, and tore the glue of the incision. I kept it clean, but didn't go to the doc till my next appointment, hence... I have a reminder. I love it, I want a reminder
For me, at 38 and happily married, it has been about being more to my family. I just want to be the best version of myself. Now I am in a frame of mind that keeps me happy. I am going to be working on a list of Snacks, and foods that I call the " feel goods". Please share with me yours as you move along your Quest. I am very happy with my decision to cut out the "Drugs" ( Breads, Pasta, candy bars, etc.) because I know just one can start the Avalanche... I feel great now, not hungry... And I love to go out to dinner, I love the game of looking for what I can eat, and there is always something... You just have to look it helps a lot if you enjoy Fish first, and then chicken. We don't need to eat shit! We need to enjoy our lives not the 30 minutes of eating crap. Who's with me... Lol.
You guys all rock! You are inspiring me to document what I have done, let me know if you feel it would be helpful.
Thanks again and be your own coach and inspiration, you deserve it! We all do!!!

Have you checked out http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/p/links-resources. ?"Shelly," Michelle has great recipes and ideas. She's 10 years out from bypass. Her recipes have helped so many people on their WLS journey, including me. I'm 4 1/2 weeks out, so I'm in the "mushy" phase. I've tried her ricotta bake (delish) and her chile relleno casserole (also, delish). They're great sources of Protein, even with the 1/4 cup serving size. I have the cauliflower casserole on my list to try next. Hope this helps you liked it helped me!

I think it's normal to second guess whether or not to have WLS. You've lost 40 pounds without WLS, and that is really awesome! I'm not sure what your weight is or how much you have to lose. I don't know if you're close to a normal BMI or if your BMI is in the severely morbidly obese range. I can tell you that if you've only got a little bit of weight to lose (and I'm not going to pretend that I know what that is because my "little" might be your huge), then maybe you shouldn't do the WLS.
But let me only tell you about my experience, which is only two weeks out on Wednesday. I lost 34 pounds before surgery and I busted my butt doing it. I worked out, logged my food, gave up carbs, and ate 1,400 calories a day. It took me 4 months to get that 34 pounds off. Since my surgery almost two weeks ago, I've lost an additional 22 pounds. That's right - 22 pounds. I have done nothing more than follow my NUT and doctor's orders. But it's a whole heck of a lot easier to do, because I'm not hungry. Not at all. Not even a little bit. There's no cheating on this. There's no "I will do better tomorrow." This is balls to the wall time.
I honestly reconsidered having surgery but I'm so very glad I didn't talk myself out of it. I have failed so many times in the past and this time, I want to see those pounds gone forever.
Whatever decision you make, make it the decision you can live with.
    Good luck to you!!!

I haven't had any problems either. I'm just a week ahead of you, and was easily able to meet my liquid and Protein goals without a hitch. I was and am, also scared like you. Fortunately, there were some vets that read my post and said that it's normal. I just tried to remind myself of that - I'm normal .

Geez - I feel really bad for you! I thought my husband was bad for driving me to the hospital, and practically shoving me out onto the curb while I tried to stay in the car having "second thoughts." Anyway, I honestly didn't need his help (other than driving me back for the hospital and carrying groceries). I was taking care of him and the grand babies the day I returned from the hospital on 9/2. Good luck to you!!!!
