GetBack_095 got a reaction from FluffyChix in Weight Gain After Sleeve (Seeking Advice Not Judgment)
Was sleeved in 2016, weight before pre-op diet was 453 pounds. Surgery weight was 429. Lowest weight was 330. My current weight is 399 pounds. Not gonna blame it on stress or anything. Was just very undisciplined. Is there any advice anyone can give me me or is there anyone on here whos been through this or is currently going through this??

You may think I eat the most boring food from this. But the reality is I don't live in deprivation. This isn't a white knuckle journey! But I still manage to eat REALLY healthy, calorie light/nutrient dense real food every day--about 95% of the time in fact. That's why the other 5% I'm ok with having treats.
I just had to learn that I had to find replacements for the things I crave. For instance, I love fried chicken as much as every other Southerner! But do I drive through Popeye's or KFC or Frenchie's? Nope. Do I eat the great fried chickie or fried shrimp my sissie makes? Nope. But tonight I'm making air fryer chicken nuggets breaded with a little "cauli-flour" + pork rind crumbs + parmesan + tiny bit of almond flour + spices. It's a fraction of the calories, carbs, and fat. But I will be full and my craving will be extinguished.
If I'm feeling energetic enough, I will make smashed roasted cauliflower to replace mashed potatoes, and I will whip up a low fat/low cal brown gravy and have my broccoli or green Beans or cole slaw. I know tomorrow I will wake up and not have gained weight from that meal. It fits my macros and calorie target. I've worked out my other meals for the day so I know this big meal will work for me. I log my food: weigh and measure and report everything that goes down my piehole.
And today it's working for me. When it no longer works, it will be time for me to reassess and adjust what I put in my mouth and when.

People that gain (me included) already know how to eat and work our plan. No need for me to get back into bariatric instructions all over again, right? With less sleeve restriction I had to find ways to keep hunger at bay and fill the extra stomach space.(many of us can give you tips if you want them)

a lot of people expressed to me dismay over cutting out a "perfectly healthy organ" but to me my system was not perfectly healthy. I was hungry all the time. it would take me 3 or 4 times the amount of food I should have been eating just to feel satisfied. I don't know - in time, science may reveal causes of obesity - but in the mean time I have to live and be as healthy as I can. the surgery gave me that
now my diabetes is GONE. and a normal child size portion satisfies me. completely satisfied. with a normal amount of food. I have never lost the weight before, and it feels wonderful all the changes in my body.
I can't say if it is right for you, but most of us only feel like we should have done it sooner. Keep searching your heart and see whether you are ready for this or not.

Came up with this before hitting the gym. Spinach tortilla with a piece of turkey bacon, oven roasted sliced turkey, fat free ranch reduced fat cheese and crushed red pepper for flavor. Low fat and not heavy on your stomach. I'm not chef boy r dee (did i spell that right??) lol, so my diet pretty much consists of 3 20g-25g Protein shakes a day. I try to keep it as simple as possible. I recently added snacking between 2 of my meals a day into my diet. Gave me more energy and made the scale drop a lot faster. I'm able to eat bread and tortillas but I'd rather leave the bread out and stick to spinach tortillas only instead of regular since they are only 15 calories for each wrap and don't get me as full and stuffed feeling.

I am living on egg whites turkey bacon and oatmeal lol and Protein shakes of course. But I'm not a good cook. Trust me, i tried to chef it up a couple times but it always turned out to be wasted money and wasted food. Sent From Galaxy Note 5 using the BariatricPal App

No, i cut them in half. And each half is between 3-4 inches. If your asking if i can finish the whole wrap in one sitting, NO. But i can finish half in 15 minutes. Each half is only 3 bites. Unless you nibbling like you 2 weeks post op lol Sent From Galaxy Note 5 using the BariatricPal App

The surgery came with a huge lifestyle change. Im 21 years young so... i did a lot of partying and drinking (wasn't a alcoholic tho). Prior to drinking i ate to prepare for the turn up lol and after drinking more eating.... followed by sleeping. When you don't work out or live an active lifestyle... thats a BAD mixture and i know thats where all my weight came from. Now that thats over with i picked up other hobbies. Now that my pockets are heavier because i don't spend most of my money on alcohol and fast food i picked up a sneaker addiction lol been buying at least 1-2 pairs a week since surgery. And i also picked up gaming (PS4) . If I'm not at work I'm either at the gym getting my daily 2.5 mile walk in or I'm at home playing video games and lifting weights. Lost a lot of friends since the lifestyle change but hey thats life right?? I'm happy and content with the new lifestyle change and loving the person I'm becoming.... After surgery whats the biggest thing that changed for you???

25 days ago on July 7th on morning of surgery i weighed in at 428.8 pounds. As of this morning i am 399.8 (After I Ate Breakfast). Everyone consider 50 or 100 pounds a big milestone for them..... but although i only lost 29 pounds this is huge for me, mentally that is. Mentally because me being over 400 pounds was the deciding factor of me getting the surgery. For the past 3 years i was up and down between 400-430 and got as high as 454 and got as low as 409 before but always gained it back. At the time i entered the 400s i was only 18 (Way Too Young) so a decision had to be made to save my life and better my life and so far its the best decision i made. Although we all have more restraint with the way our stomachs are changed, we still have to have that same discipline. Still have to have to have the same discipline to get up and move everyday and go work out and have the discipline to not eat this and eat that instead. We still have to do the same stuff that people who didn't have the surgery have to do. So if a so called friend-family member every tell you that you took the easy way out or you are too lazy to lose it on your own just ignore them, or do what i did and cut them off, on this journey you don't need that negative energy around you, you need positive vibes and people that will motivate you.

You all don't have to jump down her throat the way you are. Just offer advice and simply tell her what she doing is FORBIDDEN. Should she be eating chicken and potatoes 9 days post op?? HELL NO.... but try to explain it to her in a less aggressive way. It annoys the s**t out of me when people talk to me the same way everybody is talking to her. I see it all the time. First recipe i came up with, simple but the best thing I've eaten so far. Just toast spreaded with ricotta cheese 1 piece of turkey bacon cut in half and an egg with ketchup for added flavor... do you guys think the ketchup will do me any harm weight loss wise??

Lol I'm slowly learning that this just isn't the place to express your sleeve experience sometimes. You got people that will be quick to judge you by your post and assume.. but i will forever be thankful for the people that give good advice and motivate me with encouraging words instead of trying to make you look dumb and uneducated when they know nothing about you. I see it way too often.
