I had my RNY 3 years ago. I started losing my hair around 4 months or so. I really thought I was going to be bald!! Now I had tried NIOXIN and even started it before my surgery. It didn't make a difference. Fast forward ( BTW my Hair loss slowed down and pretty much stopped by my 9th month out) I started taking hair SKIN AND NAILS Plus my other Vitamins. I take 2 BARIATRIC VIT a day, Vit D 6,000 a day ( I am real low due to living in OREGON) B-12 1 time a week sublingual, SELENIUM 200mg a day Citracal-D 2 a day. The SELENIUM helps with hair loss also. Make sure you get all of your Protein in also. I stopped washing my hair every day, now I wash it like every other day. I also found a Shampoo for hair loss online it is called PUR ad 'or I am amazed at how much this has helped my hair. You can actually see new growth around my hairline. I paid $19.95 but it is sooo worth it. A BIG difference. Good luck I haven't had any facial hair or extra leg hair. In fact every since my RNY I don't have much Hair growth in my pits or my legs. I disagree ( not being a smart A**) but I do think Vitamins help with hair loss. I don't feel like it was a waste of my money at all.

I am taking 6 weeks off from work after my upcoming surgery for exactly that reason. While I might be able to go back after 3-4 weeks, I know that this is going to be so physically taxing and that my energy (and thus most likely my creativity) will be compromised.

You may want to postpone until you have your head in the game. It's concerning you can't stick with preop diet even after surgery was cancelled. Not following your postop diet is dangerous!

If you're waiting for the urge to pass, it may never. I smoked for 35 years then one day I decided enough. Everyone was shocked. Including me. I loved smoking and had never tried to quit. Didn't want to. It was hell for about a week then it gradually got better. That was 8 years ago and there are still times I want one so bad I can't stand it. Still times I automatically reach for one without even thinking. But I know that if I smoke one, I'll be back to over a pack a day. With all that said, I'm so glad I quit. I feel so free. No longer restricted on where I can go or how long I can stay because you can't smoke anywhere anymore. I had to go cold turkey. I wish I could do that with food. It's hard to do just a little bit. That's what I'm hoping the sleeve will do for me. Good luck in your journey.

I hate all brands of strawberry. And I got the starter pack for unjury and the only one I really like and use is the chicken broth. The chocolate splendor is ok but premier is better to me.
I can't stand the Bariatric Advantage that I bought at docs. I am going to force myself to finish some but taking an unopened one to a support group meeting to give away.
Other than premier which is high Protein and so convenient the Isopure unflavored is my back up to Unjury chicken. It is all a matter of individual tastes! Buy small and sample!

@@FrankiesGirl is right, weight loss is 80-90% diet related. @ Gave you the right tips about getting back to basics.
If you are eating carbs and sugar, and snacking, a 3rd surgery is useless for you. You can do all of that with bypass too.
I'm not even sure you can revise from the sleeve to bypass, the revision from the sleeve is DS and no reputable surgeon would do that surgery on you with so little to lose.
Work on your diet, if you gave up carbs/sugar/snacking you could lose. A surgery can't do all the work for you, you have to contribute.
@@deekel8 The sleeve is the first step of the DS, not bypass. The sleeve was used for people that were too heavy for the long surgery that bypass requires.

I rested, spent time with my family, cleaned the house, organized cabinets and drawers, went on early morning bike rides with the hubby. Pure vacation. I go back Mon 7/25.

RhondaF reacted to FrankyG in Old Timers-What is the point of WLS if many regain/have hunger/diet drama..
I'm not an old timer, but I'm closing in on 1.5 years and still working towards my goal. Weight doesn't come off as easy now, but it is still coming off. It's harder, but I know what I'm doing now and it involves working a bit harder and being mindful of what I eat. I think this is how regular people lose weight?
So for me, WLS was the big push to change my life completely. I committed to having a life-altering and permanent surgery to combat my inability to control portions and used that time to relearn how to eat healthy. I have lost 112 pounds so far and I'm sure I'll make it to goal before my 2 year anniversary.
I got in touch with the reasons why I overate/ate the wrong foods. I worked on my mental blocks, cravings and Portion Control issues. I focused on finding enjoyable activities that didn't feel like work so I would keep at it instead of forcing myself to exercise. I learned to cook foods that were healthy and tasty for myself and my husband so he now enjoys eating healthy with me (and he has lost 75 pounds just from joining me on my food/exercise changes - without even having surgery!)
I know what to do if the weight starts creeping up. I know what foods to stay away from, and I know how I feel if I don't exercise and keep active. I won't go back to what I was, and I won't make excuses about it if I do gain - I'll just watch what I'm eating and my activity levels and adjust where there is a problem. There is no failure unless you give up and I don't plan to ever give up.
I am not the person I was 1.5 year ago. I will never be that person again. I am happier, healthier and more honest with myself and I have a great future with my husband because I chose to follow this path instead of accepting my fate to be the fat, unhealthy person I was and likely dying at an early age because I couldn't get a handle any of it.
The ones that regain are the ones that don't take those lessons to heart. They don't use the time they have to throw out all their awful eating habits, learn how to eat healthy, exercise and deal with the mental issues that caused them to use food as comfort/reward/whatever. They gave up on themselves basically and treated WLS as a cure-all instead of as a tool they had to learn to use and put in the hard work to use it correctly.
We all have a short period of time where the weight will come off without hard work, but that is temporary and weight will creep back on if you don't make all those changes.
If you're not willing to put in the work, then you may very likely regain.

Friends, I'm a week post-op and decided to virtually take zero time off. I basically took 2 days extra plus my 2 normal days off. Needless to say, I'm exhausted! I have recovered remarkably well. My only issue right now is still the bloat and my tummy feels like someone punched it, but other than that I think I'm doing good. But the fatigue is nuts. I obviously have zero energy from food so I'm bragging. Don't do like me and take time off to at least be able to doze off in peace. Cheers.

It bothers me too. Let's stuff our faces and then just "purge" so we don't absorb all the calories (or the vitamins)! The only difference I see with this and bulimia is that it won't rot your teeth.

I just received a date for my VSG surgery. It's August 9th. This is the first post I have put out there and I am excited to finally share the news.
Over the past few months I have been lurking on these forums as well as other sites. Doctors visits and getting clearance from specialists have created many stress filled days but all is good.
My issues include type 1 diabetes, heart disease, high cholesterol as well as other stuff I cannot think of right now. Reading all of the posts on this site has really allowed me to sit back and think about how I really feel about all of this. I am glad I did not just jump right in like I have a tendency to. I took my time and it has been good for my brain.
My doctor and I decided that it would be more dangerous for NOT to have the surgery at this point. I am excited and hope to connect with people on here for support. And hopefully I will able to provide some support to others also.
