I still after a year only eat 800 to 850 calories a day. You are right it is HARD. You can only do what you can do. No one can ask more than that of us not even ourselves. Praying for all.

I was sleeved aug 21. I still love all food. I wish I didn’t. Some days I’m not eating as healthy as I should. Other days I’m doing great. I’ve lost 46 pounds but feel I should be losing more. Who knows. Getting discouraged.

Hey 9/19 here! Feeling ok! I guess... 5wks out and I haven't lost much weight about 20pd Surgery 9/19/17

I'm currently walking about 4.5 miles a day, constantly going up and down stairs so I'm pretty active! As far as my eating intake, I'm still struggling with my intake I recognize I'm not eating enough! I do find that I'm able to have a good hearty Breakfast without any issue once lunch time and Snacks come around I can't do it! I've been drink my Water, my doc has keep me off dairy but not I have been able to tolerate again! I haven't had a Protein Shake in about 2wks! Can this be the cause of my "stall" not enough Protein? I see everyone dropping the pounds and I'm starting to feel a sense of regret! I'm doing everything possible I know everyone is different just thought I would lose it much faster! Although I do see inches coming off!

    Hey all--
My surgery date was 10/10, so I am more than three weeks post-op. I have been progressing very well, except that I am feeling completely drained. Not tired, but just lacking any energy. I know I have to "give it time" because I just had major surgery, but I stayed home doing nothing for three weeks healing up, and even though I wasn't doing much--zero energy.
One thing I haven't seen is anyone talking about severe caloric restriction and its impact on how post-surgery patients feel. Like I said, doing great, lost 25 pounds so far, and expect (hope) to lose another fifty. But I am not taking in more than 500-600 calories a day. My NUT says that even when I am totally healed up the max will be 900-1000.
That's a starvation diet, really. I mean, I don't feel starving at all, just...no energy!
Anyone experience this and get over it in time, or as you ate more? I'm hopeful.
You can call me "Low Energy Leslie"

For this one, I recommend going someplace outside of your normal routine. Maybe to the next town.. go to a mall or movie, where you can do something while carrying a bottle of Water or snack.
If you are too weak from not eating/drinking, then you need to suck it up and swallow something. Call your doc if it's past the point of no return. You can get an IV, and maybe something for your nerves.

Breakups suck. Sorry you are struggling so much. Try to get in some relaxation - put on some spa music, and take a hot shower, extra b Vitamins always helped me, talking w a friend. Maybe set a timer and follow a regimented schedule.
No one else can take care of you but you. Hugs...

    I'm four years out.

I took the whole time till goal (which for me was almost exactly a year) to eat NONE of the junk that made me fat. I followed my plan to the letter. I completely eliminated almost all simple and processed carbs--bread, Pasta, potatoes, rice, crackers, etc. I ate almost no fruit because of the sugar content. No sweetened drinks. Not even once in a while or a bite or two at holidays/parties. I do and have always done fake sugar. Sue me, but to this day I need Protein supplement and haven't found one I like without it and it doesn't seem to affect me.

Once I got to goal it was Christmas and I tried moderation and gained about 10 pounds! Got back on my program and dropped it. There are things I know I can't open the door to now (hello cheezits), there are things I don't care for anymore--that I've lost my interest in (potatoes, pasta, sweet drinks) and things that don't agree with me (rice, untoasted bread). Other things I can do and enjoy in moderation (cookies, pizza, alcohol). Some now have a place in my normal diet (fruit, oatmeal).

But for me it was important to have that year of a reset! To break my habits, to learn new ones, to change my relationship with food and to change my tastes and cravings.

    That's what worked for me!

Your stomach will let you know! Well at least for me it has! My throat gets knotted up,as if I had food stuck, and I feel the food siting right on my stomach this happens with just a few spoons of whatever I'm eating. I wait about 15-20min to continue my meal! Is not a pretty fun feeling feeling full and having to throw up

I was sleeved in August and regularly have a glass of wine or a gin and slimline tonic (much less calories). I don’t find any difference in the effect. I do have a problem eating, I can only eat about an ounce at a time and struggle to eat more than 800 calories a day, this is slowing down my loss as I’m not eating enough and mealtimes are a nightmare 😞

Drzthickness85 reacted to Supernovae in Alcohol! When did you first drink
Hey everyone (: I started out with two bourbons and coke over 2 hours. Had absolutely no effect so I went for it. Had 3 shots and 3 more bourbons over about 2.5 hours. I did not get drunk faster than I normally would have. In fact I wouldn't even say I was that drunk. I got home about 30 minutes ago after finishing my last drink and am nearly sober.

My thoughts are basically that if you honestly feel ready then try one drink and increase if that goes down okay. I've always had a high tolerance for spirits so I wasn't expecting much difference.

Before surgery I could not handle wine. It made me drunk very fast and caused very bad dehydration. So obviously I won't touch wine for a long time! If you're a wine drinker I would definitely be more cautious because it's known to cause dehydration.

I'm not a big beer drinker so I didn't test it out.. But I feel like beer would probably go down totally fine except you wouldn't fit much in before you get full. So much liquid with so little effect!

Hopefully this gives people a little insight into drinking again. Obviously everyone is different and it may be the opposite for others. This is just my personal experience and opinion. The best advice I can give is to listen to your body. If you can eat and drink like normal and you feel ready theres no harm in trying a small amount. Just remember to not EXPECT to get drunk faster. Don't expect to feel sick, get bloated or get too full.

And yes, I can drink soft drink. And no, it does not give me gas pains or "stretch" my stomach. As soon as I eat food I'm full. (:

And lastly, alcohol does effect weight loss. Don't be shocked if you drink one weekend and then don't lose weight the next week. I'm fully aware of the calories and other ****. I just don't care. I'm young and I enjoy the occasional night out (:

I am curious as well. I had a pretty high tolerance before surgery from drinking scotch straight. I haven't been drunk since probably 15 years ago, because I normally stop after a few drinks. I have a Halloween party coming up next weekend, and the jury is out as to whether or not I will partake. If I do decide to have a drink, I will probably nurse a Michelob Ultra or something. At least it is lower cal/carb.
I don't know if it will be worth it at this point. I am leaning towards waiting until New Years Eve.
