MissB1982 got a reaction from chevygirl10_24 in Is it normal that I can down a one-cup protein shake in 2 minutes?
Hello! I don't think that's a good idea, your stomach is very sensitive, and you don't want to damage anything even if you feel fine. Plus the slower you go the more time you have to feel full.

Have lost about 30 pounds since surgery and I will be 8 weeks Wednesday. That means i can go on a regular diet but i will still be taking it extremely slow. i have started writing down everything i eat and calories are around 800 or sometimes closer to 900 but never over that, i just felt like i wasnt getting in enough calories at first, and my fat stays at or below 30 grams and my Protein for a day can range from 60 to 80. i still dont drink two liters of Water a day but i am working on it. Also i was working out but I am in nursing school and i swear i barely have time to even breathe but i am trying to see how i will work some exercise in. Other than that i will say i think i am doing great. There are mostly good days and of course a few that could be better and i am finally starting to get some compliments from people FINALLY after 111 pounds lost people notice! I find that crazy but nobody ever said anything to me about my weight until now. I do not regret the surgery one bit and im glad cause they opened up a krispy kreme not too far from me and honey i would have been all up in there lol, now i cant and im so grateful.

Thank you everyone, yes I will keep you updated. My body is in constant overdrive and I have been on bp meds for years. I am hoping to get off of them but I guess not until I get my thyroid levels stabilized. I used to wake up with extreme night sweats but it has been better, but I'm always hot. I'm concerned about going hypo if I get on meds or gaining weight back and they have run all kinds on tests on me. They did a mri to check my pituitary gland, checked me for nodules, checked me for graves (though graves unfortunately does run in my family) and so far it's all been negative. Don't know what's causing the extra low tsh.

@@ChattyMommy30 yes I did! Right at two week mark too. It only lasted for some days because I'm coming up on three weeks in a day or so and it has disappeared except for those darn Protein Shakes. They make me nauseous no matter what. Just give it a week, hopefully it Will pass.

Hitting the beginning of week 3/ending week 2. I am on pureed now and it felt like heaven to have some real food no matter how disgusting it looks. I had had it with cream Soups and Protein Shakes, it just made me nauseous. I really struggle to get in that one Protein Shake and I try to get the rest of my Protein in with food. I'm eating maybe 1/4 cup sometimes to 1/2 cup sometimes at a time. I eat slowly, but I definitely feel like I feel hungry at times. Maybe it's head hunger. I eat three times a day but I read in the beginning you should eat four to six meals a day because you're only getting in 1/4 to 1/2 a cup each time but I'm not there yet . I'm probably going to hit the three week stall soon so I'm not even going to get on the scale, it's no big deal to me. I know I'm losing by my clothes. They are hanging off of me. Last I weighed I was 248 about a fifteen pound loss from surgery date. Getting in 60+ protein most days and close to 50 ounces of Water. I didn't get any rest after surgery. I'm a single mother and I had no help so immediately I was cleaning and cooking. I wish I could have rested but I must say I think it sped up my recovery and kept me active because my energy is pretty good now and I rarely have dizzy spells except sometimes at night which could be low sugar, low pressure, or hot bouts. Immediately after surgery I was hit with hot flashes and bad night sweats so I keep water and g2 by my bed at night. It's hard but no regrets!

Hello All. Do you recognize me? I was sleeved on Wednesday (27th). I'm a different person now. :-)
I have to say that things didn't go exactly as I had anticipated, but I'm doing well. My surgery got moved later in the day. We arrived at 10:30. They weighed me, took my urine to make sure I wasn't pregnant, hooked me up to an IV, started the leg compression stockings, I talked to the anesthesiologist, the nurse anesthetist, the surgeon, and then we waited. I think surgery began around 1:00pm. My husband did not see me again until 6:00pm that night.
I remember getting into the operating room and I really don't remember anything else until waking up in recovery. I've had numerous surgeries and I always wake up fast, have very little pain and bounce right back. I was assuming it would be that way this time too. However, I woke up in recovery in a ton of pain and feeling like I was going to vomit uncontrollably. I remember being a bit frantic about it and telling them how bad it felt. They gave me some anti nausea meds and probably pain killers and I was right back to sleep. I only remember about 2 minutes of the recovery room and I was there for awhile apparently. My husband said surgery took about 2.5 hours according to the status board. I remember waking up as they rolled me into my hospital room. My husband was there waiting for me. He said that was about 6pm.
I was really sleepy, but they still began telling me about sipping Water and how they'd want me to get up and walk soon. Apparently, I had what they were calling "Fast track", where they did my swallow study while I was still in the operating room. This meant I could begin liquids immediately. I started sipping my water and marking my ounces down. It wasn't too hard that first night. The next morning was when I felt much more nauseous, more pain, and like I couldn't keep things down. Despite my best efforts after taking a crushed pill in some pudding, I couldn't help but throwing it back up. That hurt!
I felt like I was going backwards with the swallowing. The doctors and nurses didn't seem too concerned though. They saw I'd been drinking and that I had done my laps around the floor, so the doctor said I could go home.
I was so nauseous at home that I could barely keep anything down. I did not meet my liquid or Protein goals for Thursday, Friday, or Saturday. Today seems to be a better day. Things are slow to go down, but I feel like I can keep them down. My pain is easing up too. I think it will get better every day from here on out.
OH, I was very pleased that I had lost 12 pounds on the preop diet. However, I was quite disappointed to see that I'd gained 11 pound from my overnight in the hospital. Yes, 11! It did go away over the next two days though.
I wasn't hungry at all those first couple of post op days. Now food sounds good. I fell asleep and dreamed I was eating popcorn. Then I got all nervous because I realized I'd just been sleeved and I couldn't have that! I started to wake up and realized it was just a dream, so I told myself to go back to sleep and enjoy it there. LOL.
I hope everyone else is doing well. Since this is the July board and it's the last day of July, I assume most of us are officially sleeved now.

Thank you! I am day 4 post op and the pain is somewhat better. I definitely have not made Water or Protein goals but I'm trying. Got to 40 something protein yesterday and about 20 or so ounces of water type fluids. I noticed when I get up in the mornings my pain is worse and I noticed at night I get pretty bad pains. It feels like I stuffed myself and drank too much but I only get it at night and I know I can't stretch my sleeve because I don't exceed 3 or four ounces every hour. I definitely can't wait to feel human again. I feel so restricted! Yesterday was my daughters birthday and they had cupcakes and ice cream and I was fine but then my mom brought in my favorite food of all time :pizza. She served them huge slices then sat right beside me smacking on the pizza. I was like really? And I went back to my room. I wasn't hungry but I love pizza y'all. Once I went back to my room, I was ok but people really don't think before they do things sometimes. I told her pizza was my weakness many times so she did know! Other than that I'm good. I start back to school in a few weeks so I gotta get back to normal soon.

Hello everyone, so I had to have been soo out of it cause I don't even remember really posting my hospital experience but I see I did. Anyway was sleeved Wednesday and my hospital stay never did get any better. I was told to walk 20 laps and I did so afterwards I was hurting and where is my nurse with my pain medicine? Does anybody know cause I sure as heck don't. Horrible horrible nurses and hospital experience. I truly believe if I would have had proper pain management in the hospital my recovery would have overall been better. But anyway they discharged me Thursday and I stayed with my mom that night. I was in excruciating pain that night and I slept in a sit up position. They gave me hydrocodone which I must say did nothing for my pain which felt kind of like labor pain for me. It was just that bad, it felt like cramping and I had gotten stiff. The next morning which was this morning I felt a tad better. I'm determined to get in a liter of Water. I'm down 16 oz of water and did 30 grams of Protein. Minimal nausea and still been walking here and there and up doing things for the kids so I guess I'm doing better. Pain still bad but not excruciating like it was yesterday. Yesterday I was forcing four oz down every hour because I thought I had to, but don't force it y'all you will end up in excruciating pain.today I am able to do four ounces without forcing. And even though they tell you dont get on the scale after surgery because you are swollen, I did and I'm down six pounds since Wednesday. I couldn't believe it. Even with my swollen stomach, I'm down six pounds so I'm expecting this weight to fall off this first month kind of quickly. It better after all of this! Experienced more gerd and throat burning last night but still taking the prescription for that so hopefully that will get better. Any regrets? No I worked too hard for this, I just want to feel better and have a speedy recovery. Sometimes I feel like I want to eat out of habit or feel like I may be hungry but I know it's my imagination because food smells overly strong right now almost to the point of making my stomach hurt. So not actually hungry and I keep telling myself yes I can do this. I didn't have much support on my journey but the good Lord really so for those who aren't married or don't have much support, you too can make it through.

Still bloated and swollen however I got on the scale anyway and I'm down six pounds in two days! I am currently around four oz of liquid an hour and I'm on full and Clear Liquids though I haven't tried Like pudding or Soup or anything like that yet. Just trying to get in my protein and water first but it was easier today so hopefully the rest of this week will be get easier and by next Wednesday I'll be telling you all I basically feel normal.
