gryffindor got a reaction from doingitmyway in CALLING ALL JULY 2016 SLEEVERS
I'm doing pretty well! Having a bit of trouble recently with not wanting to eat (nothing sounds appetizing/nausea) which leads to not getting my Protein in for the day. Focusing on Protein and Water more than anything else right now.
That said, I'm down 33.8 pounds in 6 weeks! When my personal trainer measured me at 5 weeks, I had lost 3.5 inches from my chest, 4 inches from my waist, and 2 inches from my hips.

gryffindor reacted to Dub in I don't know how much longer I can do this... But no choice
A bodybuilder in my gym saw that I had been working hard....burning off weight.
He approached me one day and congratulated me on the progress. I thanked him and asked if he had any magic wisdoms for success.
    Turns out....he did.
He said, "Look around....everybody in here....well almost everybody in here.....is working hard....busting their ass. That's super. Not all of them will get the results they want, though. We work hard while we are here, but it's what we do the other 23 hours of the day that allow the results to shine".
I don't get how you having your sleeve is the worst decision of you life.
You have a tool that can help you combat your obesity.
Seems to me the worst decisions are all those choices you make during the day to eat poorly and in a way that doesn't support your desire to loose weight.
It's a process and it's good that you are seeking professional help.
Hopefully you can find a way to flip that switch that's inside of you......your own personal "GO" button......and be able to gain control overall through winning those numerous choices that you make throughout each day.
For me it took experiencing a great deal of back pain and fear from an injury and a circulatory condition that was developing. I began to realize that I wasn't going to be around much longer if I kept living like I was. That pain...and that fear were enough to flip my switch. Priorities were shifted really damn quick and my actions....for the most part.....now are aligned with my priorities.
I hope you can get to this point soon.
You can turn your life around.

gryffindor reacted to skmjs in No, really, I can assure you I am not pregnant!
My doc almost cancelled my surgery because I couldn't drive to the hospital 48 hrs before my surgery to take a pregnancy test. (I don't live near the hospital and had unbreakable plans that day, also he never told me it was a requirement to have a pregnancy test appointment exactly 48 hrs before surgery until the day before!)
I was so angry - I'm a married gay woman. I was asking, don't you have a waiver I can sign attesting to the fact that I'm not pregnant? and they had the nerve to say that many women don't know they're pregnant and they have no way of knowing if I'm one of those women. The amount of blank stares I got when I said "I'm GAY. I'm MARRIED to a WOMAN who CANNOT PHYSICALLY GET ME PREGNANT." They ended up making me check into my surgery 6 hours early so i could take a test that morning then sit around all day waiting for the results before they'd operate.
It was so insulting. The nurse was so snippy with me that I started getting a little bit punchy back with her. "I had sex with some men in college. But, I graduated in 2002 so... hmm. I could potentially be about 14 and a half years pregnant." They didn't appreciate that.

I don't like EITHER candidate, but I can tell you with no inkling of doubt, if that man spoke "the truth" yesterday, he'll surely say he was simply "misunderstood" today. He can't keep his own story straight to save his life.
    What a joke.

Travel. Ask that your records be transferred and have the new doctor explain IN DETAIL what the heck happened to you. Pursue this medically and if warranted, legally. Accidents happen. Repairs are needed. It happens, it sucks, with that, you move on.
It sounds as if they were grossly negligent, not just by medical error but by downright giving you misinformation about what happened to you.
YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW. YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO KNOW WHAT TO EXPECT. If you are ever in an accident or need further surgery, your doctors may not have all the information to treat you properly because YOU don't know what happened to you. THAT'S WRONG.
    Travel. You are worth it.

At first, he didn't want me to. He was so nervous id get sad and depressed which sure, I did but it came and went. He actually has been staying away from sugars/ breads/fast food etc since my surgery day which has been a God send for my recovery and new lifestyle. He's determined to lose some pounds and have this lifestyle together. This was his big 30 so I did want to do something special. He has been very expressive and very grateful. It's nice when people see how hard this is for us especially in the beginning. He didn't get popcorn either! I was going to really struggle if he did. Haha!!! Over all, I woke up today and yeah, I didn't get steak but I'm doin okay! Lol.

    And link to the store.
It wouldn't be as bad if the words didn't capitalize/lower case themselves, too, making me look like I don't know basic punctuation.
So now I am forced to misspell my words. Sigh. It's painful.

July 25, 2016. Had my two week post op appt yesterday and am down 10 lbs. I got to have a scrambled egg last night and it may have been the best egg I have ever eaten! I can drink a lot of Water, but 2oz of egg really filled me up. I seem to be losing slower than others but I feel great and am glad to be on this journey!

@@plates If I remember from seeing your original post - you had Mac n cheese. The fat in that could also cause problems. You can't eat off plan or you may end up with complications - some could be life threatening. I don't know why you thought eating anything 3 days post-op was wise - never mind Mac n cheese which isn't allowed on most plans until maintenance if then. Yes - it's too late to get your stomach back. Get your head in the game before it's too late.

You had major stomach surgery on 8.1, ate Pasta on 8.3, and wonder why you feel bad and have diarrhea?
You might need to discuss this with your surgeon.

    Two month surgiversary!
Today I ran for the first time.....in forever!!!!
I can't believe it's already been two months. My new normal is pretty bland. I'm still following the rules and am never hungry. Starting to feel a little food envy but so far I haven't given in.
I'm down 35.3 pounds since surgery and about two clothing sizes.
I feel great! Shopping is fun again as I am no longer limited like I once was. Still some...but not like before. I'm taking more risks now as my confidence lifts.

I finally understand why posting results and details goes away after the first few weeks. This. Is. Life. We are just plugging away with a smaller stomach and managing our eating way better.
I'm doing good. I feel great. I'm living life and the weight just comes off.
Yeah, yeah, I'll have to deal with maintenance some day. Just not today!

gryffindor reacted to Valentina in What’s the Most Awkward Part of WLS?
The most awkward moment for me is also one of the most joyful moments since my WLS.
It was when me sweatpants fell off while catching a 42" Striped Bass from the surf of the Raritan Bay.
I was the only woman surf fishing during the sunrise when I found myself chest high in the salt Water with only my new blues undies on.
As awkward as it was, the men on the beach were wonderful, jovial, retrieved my extra shorts from my car and were willing to take a solemn oath (the cross your heart and hope to die kind) NOT to take any pictures.
    By the way?
    I caught the fish!

Before this turns into a pissing match - let them drink. It has been said time and time again all the reasons why drinking is dangerous post surgery. If anyone wants to risk bleeds, ulcers, new addictions, or whatever; it's their life.
If nothing bad happens to them, cool for them, live it up and party on dude. Conversely, if complications or something serious happens don't console them or support them. Let them wallow in their failure.

OMG. I wasn't going to reply to this because people around here get their underwear in a bunch if you say "wow, that wasn't the best choice" about anything.
No one here said anything about drinking being evil. One person rightly said that y'all are really fresh post-ops, you need to be careful. That's nowhere near saying that drinking is evil or people shouldn't enjoy their lives.
As a nurse, there is no way I would advocate anyone drinking "some wine and a few Crown & Cokes" less than 2 months post-op with a GASTRIC surgery. That's a lot of alcohol for someone who HASN'T had their stomach cut on.
I'm going on record right now as saying that wasn't a great choice. If that makes me a bitch, so be it.

I am not sure if I am adding these pictures correctly but I thought maybe it was time to show my progress. I am disabled and have used an electric mobility device since 1994. Now a days I am able to walk with 1 cane for about 5 minutes before pain sets in. Plus I am riding a tricycle 7 miles a day. I am very pleased with all of my weight loss. The 145 pounds I lost on my own and the additional 108 I have lost since the first meeting with my surgeon and the 3 procedure surgery he did in Jan of this year.
The pictures are My highest weight 497 pounds. Last June when I first saw the surgeon 352 pound.
Day before surgery 315 which was Jan 26th
This Sunday July 10th 244. Total lost 253 pounds.

If you're developing DVT (deep vein thrombosis----blood clots) in your legs, MRSA will be the least of your problems.
Grab your inhalers and your Protein powder and GO TO THE CLOSEST ER.
That is the only advise I have for you. Anything else would be medical advice and that I can not give.
