Hey heartfire! Well there was a storm in Atlanta so my 1.5 hr flight from Chicago turned into 6 hours on the plane. My butt was numb with a capital B!! ha I agree about dingbat. I just don't get why he can't leave me alone! <banging head> How has your weekend been? It's pouring here right now; we definitely need it!

So completely off-topic.....(I'm still pre-banded and BIG.) There's a guy at work that has been flirting with me for a couple years and has never asked me out. I've gotten tired of the mixed signals and have kicked him to the curb only to have him weasel his way back into my life. He knows that I have feelings for him so it's not like he's clueless (well he is, but hello). So what I don't get is why keep playing the game with me and emailing, IM'ing, etc if he's not interested. :biggrin: If I told most people to take a long walk off a short pier, it would hairlip hell (southernism) before I ever heard from them again, right? Not dingbat! I've been real nice-nothing; I've been a total bitch-same. Tho ignoring him does seem to bother him. 0:-) Currently, we're in a non-speaking timeframe. I'll catch him watching me in our cafeteria, etc but I just ignore him. What the hell?!? Well just had to get that off the chest. Plain - you are such a goofball!!! To me, the BMI calc is only my justification to get the band! I've had one appointment with the surgeon where he proceeded to look up my "ideal" weight. I'm 5'4" so my ideal weight is 124. Now if I got down to 124, people in my life would be worried that I was going to die! The smallest I've been as an adult was 135 but I was working out more so some was muscle. At this point, I just want to see a "1" as the first digit of my weight. Second surgeon story - I was saying how weight is so odd b/c I'm so dumpy and my brother is 6'5" and 170ish. (Couldn't you just kill him, Plain?) So my surgeon proceeds to say that he clearly needs to eat more. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? :biggrin: If any of you saw him, you'd think he was just fine. (Tho he does describe himself as the most out of shape skinny guy around.) He absolutely got my uncle's metabolism where I got the fat, thyroid disease (5th generation). So I didn't mean to threadjack but I think BMI is crap. I think you said you wanted to get down to a 34 waist? When you do, I say screw the BMI!!! :mad:

I'm tearing up thinking about our men and women (and their families) having to deal with everything they/you all deal with. I've been traveling for work lately and seeing all of the soldiers in the Atlanta airport just breaks my heart. I so want to hug them all but why don't I - b/c I am a big girl. Stupid, huh? A co-worker's hubby is career Army - she has suggested that I offer my cell phone if it looks like someone's coming home since they prob won't have a phone with them. So if anyone else if traveling, that might be an idea for you as well. :-) God bless all of our troops around the world serving our great country and our friends' countries/troops!

What I don't get is why anyone cares what WLS someone else is having. One of my gf's had RNY years ago but is completely supportive of my decision to get LB. WTH!?! FedEx has proof that you didn't sign for the package until 7/11. One would THINK that Countrywide would want someone to continue to pay on their mortgage instead of defaulting b/c you know if they have to sell your house, they might have to sell at a loss. My former mortgage (during the good real estate times) was with them but thank God I don't have a mtg with them now. Stupidity drives me crazy. After I bought my current house, i got all kind of "come back" emails and letters from them. Little did I know.... I was having trouble sleeping Thurs night and saw Treasury Secy Paulson and Fed Chairman Bernanke testifying about the Bear Sterns situation to the House Financial (or was it Financial Services?) Committee. Unfortunately, I don't know enough about the intricacies of real estate to completely understand what was being said. It was interesting timing to see that Friday, the announcement was made that the FDIC had taken over conservatorship of IndyMac Bank in California. WTF is going onnnnnnnn? This also doesn't taken into account about the Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae situation. I agree with the earlier poster that Americans definitely have the entitlement mindset and spend way too much and save too little. However, there were scrupulous and fraudulent lenders that got many into this horrible, horrible situation. I personally believe anyone and everyone associated with fraudulent mortgages should GO TO JAIL. That, of course, would be nearly impossible to pull off. Enough of my rambling. Susan, I will be thinking about you and praying that you get the crap with Countrywide figured out. GIVE 'EM HELL. PS - And don't even get me started about the healthcare industry in this country.

I forgot to tell y'all that I saw an advertisement in the Skymall magazine on my flight for some liquid that covered up smells! Naturally, I thought of LBT and this thread!!! Considering I was stuck on the plane for 6 hours, I needed a good laugh!

SHUT THE F UP!!! I woulda been very catty and said in my smart ass best, "Thank you SO much" and then woulda rolled my eyes. I had on a sweater set today and had 2 stewardesses ask me if I was buckled (even while faking being asleep). The shit was not buckled but I faked it. We got in/out before the heat wave came; it was only around 83 as the high. As many times as I've visited Chicago, I always forget just how awesome their architecture is. I love it! Ranger & Denise- I'm pre-banded. My doctor has begun putting in Realize bands and I know nothing about pros and cons of either. Ranger-have you found any information? When I search on "realize" on here, I get a lot of posts where folks have used the word and are not talking about the brand! I too am very thankful for this informational website. I've become rather addicted to it!

I agree with the addiction transference theory(ies). A friend of mine that had bypass transferred to shopping. However, I don't think it's only bypass-related. I'm sure that's why we also go through the psych eval - to make sure that we don't have a past with drug or alcohol abuse so we don't transfer to former bad addictions!
