  1. I am not, not, NOT being judgmental here! I've read articles about people that have had WLS and swapped their food addiction for shopping, drinking, et al addictions. I think it's completely normal to be shopping addicted esp as you lose weight. Won't be good for my bank account though!!! (But it will be fun to have to balance the budget!!)
  2. Ha, Diva, Plain used "mmm kay"!!!
  3. Ha! Stalking me nights 3 states away; that's impressive!!! With regard to the other one - he walked right by me in the cafeteria and I didn't trip him. I was so proud! Oh - were you affected by Ike??
  4. Plain - are you trying to be my new stalker? Remember the post I had sometime earlier about putting all of the criminals in a pen with guns? I'm definitely about putting the pedophiles in there too. Even criminals hate pedophiles! Honestly, I'd be ok with the police putting a bullet in their heads (but not for some guy at 19 who dated a 16 year old!). The true sick bastards can't be reformed so they're a drain on our society in every way. The Oprah show that brought this to my attention showed some software that had been created to plot all of gross freaks looking at pedophilia online across the country. The amount of red dots on that map was staggering. The one man that was busted had gigs of child porn on his computer and had emailed/shared an insane amount of pics/videos. (I can't remember the number.) Disgusting.
  5. Posting to post that I was up all night throwing up (pre-banded). What the H is up with that?!? It was either my dinner out or a bug, I'm guessing. Boo hiss. I'm trying to keep up with everyone; this thread is hopping!
  6. Please please please go to the following link to urge your Senators to pass Senate bill 1738, i.e. the Protect Our Children Act before this session ends at the end of September. This is probably the best bi-partisan act to come down the pike (or is it pipe?). Hundreds of thousands of children are victims of sexual abuse each year. Due to the sheer lack of resources, law enforcement is unable to follow up on the majority of leads they have. The PROTECT Our Children Act will: Authorize over $320 million over the next five years in desperately needed funding for law enforcement to investigate child exploitation. Mandate that child rescue be a top priority for law enforcement receiving federal funding. Allocate funds for high-tech computer software that can track down Internet predators. Help Pass the PROTECT Our Children Act Scroll down to read the directions to either email, call, telegram, or write your Senators. (I went the senate.gov route!) Thanks so much!!!
  7. Aww good! I hadn't seen this post and sent you a PM about it, oops! That black flag was too ominous for my personal taste! A month, wowzer! I need to get stocked and ready!!!
  8. Riiiiight, Plain, you are in-no-cent!
  9. from The NY Times...questions for Mrs. Palin: http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/10/opinion/10dowd.html?_r=1&ei=5070&emc=eta1&oref=slogin - What kind of budget-cutter makes a show of getting rid of the state plane, then turns around and bills taxpayers for the travel of her husband and kids between Juneau and Wasilla and sticks the state with a per-diem tab to stay in her own home? - Why was Sarah for the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against the Bridge to Nowhere, and why was she for earmarks before she was against them? And doesn’t all this make her just as big a flip-flopper as John Kerry? - What kind of fiscal conservative raises taxes and increases budgets in both her jobs — as mayor and as governor? - When the phone rings at 3 a.m., will she call the Wasilla Assembly of God congregation and ask them to pray on a response, as she asked them to pray for a natural gas pipeline? - Does she really think Adam, Eve, Satan and the dinosaurs mingled on the earth 5,000 years ago? - Why put out a press release about her teenage daughter’s pregnancy and then spend the next few days attacking the press for covering that press release? - As Troopergate unfolds here — an inquiry into whether Palin inappropriately fired the commissioner of public safety for refusing to fire her ex-brother-in-law — it raises this question: Who else is on her enemies list and what might she do with the F.B.I.? - Does she want a federal ban on trans fat in restaurants and a ban on abortion and Harry Potter? And which books exactly would have landed on the literature bonfire if she had had her way with that Wasilla librarian? - Just how is it that Fannie and Freddie have cost taxpayers money (since they haven’t yet)? - Does she talk in tongues or just eat caribou tongues? - What does she have against polar bears?
  10. I was such a bum yesterday. I took the LONGEST afternoon nap - what a bum! And oopsies, didn't realize I'd used your exact same ticker for my days til surgery, Ezma....going to change!
  11. Me too, me too
  12. Tap - are you in Texas??
  13. Right?!? I'm guessing that at least a couple I would not want their faces next to mine on a TV. <shuddering> Seriously, in this day of tabloids and the internet, I can't imagine why anyone would want to run for the Presidency. I wish that Colin Powell would've run but, God love her, I absolutely agree with his wife for putting her foot down. I worry sometimes that "they" only run for the power and not to help our country (which is why I believe in term limits for Congress)! Complete topic change: How great was it that Bill Clinton and Bush Sr. put politics aside to help others? I thought that was beyond cool. Ugh, why am I still awake? 2:10am, nite! AMEN, sister, amen! People that are not in business drive me crazy that they don't realize corps aren't going to just suck up a tax increase. Are they going to lower their CEO's salary? Not bloody likely!!! I also think that folks whining about taxes (like, um, myself at times) need to check out other "industrialized" countries' taxes. Cha-ching!
  14. Liberal here and I'm actually going to say something positive about Palin. I thought I heard that her teleprompter kept going while people were clapping (should've stopped) so she had to do the majority of her speech w/o it. PS - reason #412 for me not to run for President....I abhor, detest, and despise my middle name so to see it typed 100M times would make majorly tick me off!!!
  15. Didn't we hear about "trickle down economics" a lot during Reagan's administration? History has been awfully nice to him but I sure to remember the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer (lots of homeless network stories back then). Trivia: What movie of the 80's had the line, "Greed is good." fairtax.org I actually abhor income taxes. My job is budgeting. I'd love to get my hands on the Federal budget. 10%-buhbye! Same thing happened with Clinton (re: blame). That's why I kind of laugh at the worry that Obama could get through a national health insurance. We're electing a prez; not a dictator! PS = If McCain had chosen someone a helluva lot less scary to me, say Romney, I might be on a different side. I look at issues and don't just pull a party ticket. (Calm down - not suggesting anyone does.) But Mrs. Palin and I could not be less alike politically!
  16. Very very well written! During the last election, I was SHOCKED to see how the Republicans spun Kerry's service for our country. How is serving our great country EVER a bad thing??? I also love how the Republicans scare everyone with the "Democrats will increase your taxes" when the national debt has increased horribly under the Bush presidencies. Even some staunch Republican friends of mine are livid about the way Bush spends money on this war. (PS - I support the fair tax initiative re: taxes.) The only thing I've supported that Bush has done is to get rid of the inheritance tax. The fact that farmers et al have lost their familial homesteads because they couldn't pay the inheritance tax really chaps me. I'm only on p. 13 so maybe this has already been discussed. Something I would like for people to also think about during this election is that the President nominates Supreme Court Justices. Dubya has already gotten in 2 conservative justices; I do not want additional ones nominated to then really sway the Supreme Court! Eek. Lastly, Speaker Nancy Pelosi was on the "The View" this year. Joy asked her why she hadn't brought Bush up on impeachment charges like the Republicans did with Clinton. She said something to the effect that the country was divided enough; she felt that spending all of that money to go through the investigation was not in the country's best interest. To quote LilMiss Diva, "Mm'kay?" PS - I too am a Poli Sci undergrad, gadgetlady, so step off with the condescension, pls.
  17. Ever heard of that little thing called the Patriot Act? Going back to page 13 to continue reading..... USA PATRIOT Act - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
  18. I can't take it. Your president (Bush) has taken more rights away from the American people than any president in history!
  19. HAHAHAHAHA - PRICELESS!!!
  20. I am pre-banded (MO) and have been on the same dose of Synthroid since I was size 8! Who knows.
  21. Scratching head - does anyone else get da Fairy's post??
  22. I understand, tap. A close gf just did an IronMan. She was fighting to stay above 100. Oh dear god, bite me! We went to Cheesecake Factory last night for my bday (9/12) and she got a big salad w/ low fat dressing. LOW FAT DRESSING? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? So then she goes into how she's not that small. I said, "E, there aren't women your size." She disagrees. Later she tells me that she hates shopping b/c.....get ready for it....she can't find clothes her size! HELLO! I said, "Um I can find clothes my big-ass size. You just made my point!!!" I think she wanted to hit me! Hee hee. I do worry about her but that's her row to hoe. <shrug> And PS - I'm envisioning a game of "keep away" with that stability ball!!!
