And having been the daughter of a President of a company, I can assure all that he worked 60-90 hour weeks up until he retired to make sure that company succeeded. After he left, the company's sales have dropped to a 1/3 of what they were. My mother's brother is a semi truck driver and having seen how hard my father worked, he has a new appreciation for upper management. It's all too easy to sit in a lower level job and blame "management" (b/c I to have done it!). While employees may not understand some of the actions of its management, I very sincerely doubt that CEOs, CFOs, et al try to drive any company into the ground as that would be self-defeating. There are have been exceptional CEO's in this country (think Jack Welch at GE) and horrible ones (think Bob Nardelli at Home Depot and now Chrysler). Having said all that, I believe that compared to other countries' CEOs, ours have compensation plans that are ridiculously high. <jumping off soapbox> PS - not happy that FB is down on a holiday weekend!!!

Slim - I can't believe they aren't teaching cursive! I need to take a poll of my friends' children to see if that's the case anywhere else. To me, that's nuts! I just have this awful picture of children growing up to sign for their house or car as "SNT" in printed caps like they're in kindergarten. I've also said that I feel like we do our children a disservice letting them graduate HS without a class on living life. To clarify, I think they should mandate taking a class where one learns: 1. how to balance a checking account, 2. how to buy and negotiate for a car, house, etc, 3. how awful credit cards are and how quickly one can get into unmanageable debt, 4. how the local, state, and federal tax system works (ie how much gets taken out per check), and 5. how filing taxes works (ie deductions etc). I'm sure there are other great topics that I'm not coming up with at 1am but that's my list for now! I have an MBA and am a finance nerd and knew very little about taxes until well into my mid 30's. I rented an apartment for way too long and missed out on the benefits of decreasing one's taxable income through home ownership. Don't get me wrong...renting definitely has its place. However, I could've helped my financial situation at certain times in my life through owning a condo or house. Sorry, the numbers nerd took over again, huh? My two cents; I'll hush now!!! :thumbup:

I hope you do; I know how much you love it. Not my thing so much but if it makes you happy, I'm all for it!!! I just like looking at the pretty flowers! Oh question if you don't mind, please. We have also had a wetter summer, thankfully. (We had been in a horrible drought.) Anyway, so in this one flower bed, I guess I'll call it, are these horrible weeds that won't pull up as easily as some. To me, they look like the beginnings of strawberries (similar leaves). They'll pull at the stems but the root won't come up. Should I just use spray instead of trying to pull? I don't know that much about weeding other than PULL! I don't like to spray too much b/c of the chemicals but the weeds are annoying me!!! haha

I did get into Beta and NHS and was in the top 10% of my class but I definitely could've done better throughout my entire scholastic career from K thru grad school. As the other said, please take care of yourself this w/e. glad you did! when my dad used to travel so much for business, he would always take the mini shampoos, conditioners, soaps, et al and mom would take big ziploc bags of toiletries (and clothes) to a local woman's shelter. they loved her! the shelter said that if you gave a woman a big shampoo, they'd (obviously) keep it. $$ Dont' worry about rambling. I really hate to admit this but I thought the same thing but unlike Plain, did not post it! Ignoring the obvious wine comment to say that Fanny does indeed encourage Plain WAY too much!!! Fanny - very sorry about your root canal experience. Mine was completely opposite. I'd had tooth pain maybe 2-3 days. The dentist said it was most likely a root canal issue so I said, "well i'm here so let's get to it." I had very little pain, thankfully. One caveat: his assistant said that people normally have no pain or horrible pain (meaning it's usually not in the middle). So, heaven forbid, you need another one, hopefully it would be the NO PAIN version! re: Fanny's fat free bacon post - I guess she schooled y'all!!! also :cool2: I would've screamed like a little girl! Wait, your DD is a little girl.... liar! Ha!!!!! would you please come clean up my office? it's a full on hot mess!
