  3. That's why my surgeon doesn't make his patients do that diet. Not enough data to show that it reduces the liver that much. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  4. If your surgeon told you to quit chances are they won't do surgery if your still smoking. Nicotine really affects your healing. I know it's hard...been there and done that...but you need to ask yourself how bad you want this surgery. Throw away what you have and stop buying more! If there are people around you smoking ask them to respect your wishes and not smoke around you. Find things to do that occupy your hands so you're not tempted to reach for one. Good luck!! 6. I didn't have a required amount to lose pre-op, so I focused on one new habit at a time. I'm with you....I don't have a required amount to lose nor do I have to do the 2 week pre-op liquid only diet so I'm working on making the type of changes that will help me after surgery. 7. I have found that it's usually a hospital specific thing. I've had several surgeries and only one hospital does the anesthesia consult. The other two hospitals just had anesthesia come speak to me as I was getting prepped for actual surgery. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  8. I agree with the genetics. My 16 year old stepson who is very fit and active was just told his cholesterol was high! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  9. Way to go! Btw...how was the endoscopy? Do they put you to sleep for that? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  10. Awesome!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. My insurance says no net gain so as long as I don't go over my initial weight I'm fine. You need to discuss this with your surgeon. Good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  12. I haven't had surgery yet...still in the pre-op stage...but I knew I wanted to do it when I had gotten over 100 pounds over weight and couldn't get it off and keep it off on my own. Sometimes I can get weight off easily...like with Weight Watchers...but it comes back on even easier. I know of a few people that have had surgery in the past and were very successful with it so I started praying about it and doing my research. I'm hoping to have my surgery sometime in September. My insurance company only requires 3 months with a NUT or 6 months supervised my physician. I'm opting for the 3 months with NUT. Good luck in making your decision. There are some really great people here that will answer any questions that you might have! I also suggest looking up Dr. Weiner on YouTube. He has tons of great videos. 13. I have to eventually have an endoscopy. What can I expect? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  14. Mine aren't nearly as cool as yours but I have a Pandora bracelet and will get new charms with each goal I reach. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  15. May I ask what happened when you tried rice? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  16. I have my appointment set up tomorrow with my NUT. Found out that they don't bill insurance so I have to pay out of pocket. Does anyone know if I can submit it to my insurance company for reimbursement? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  17. There really is a group and as someone that supports my family with a direct sales business I resent the marketing scheme comment. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  19. What can I expect at my psych eval? Are there things that could potentially keep me from having the surgery? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  20. I hear something about "finding someone else" almost daily. I hope this isn't the start of the situation for you. Thank you and good luck as well. Sent from my SM-N920V using the BariatricPal App Thanks! I'm going to try and resolve the issue now before it gets too ugly postop. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I'm preop so I'm not sure how my husband is going to react once I start losing the weight but he did ask me last night if I was gonna get all skinny and go find someone else. I've never had an issue with him before when I've lost weight but then again I've never lost as much as I will with this surgery. I'm sorry you're going through this and I hope it resolves for you soon. Nothing worse than a husband that doesn't trust you! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  22. I think that scar tissue can begin to form rather quickly but I'm with you in that I wouldn't think that it should be that size this soon. When do you go back in for follow up?
  23. Awesome sauce!! So happy for you!!
  24. Great idea! I had family and friends bring over food when I had my last back surgery in November. I'm sure that I could get help with that again.
