amysmara got a reaction from healthier&happier4life in Wk 4 - only 3 pds down. What happened?
Yes it's completely normal to have a stall, your body is hanging on to every single fat cell because your body is in starvation mode right now so when your body catches up to the surgery then you will start losing weight again. Don't worry it's completely normal and will happen a couple of times

amysmara got a reaction from SusieT in How did you sleep?
I slept in my own bed as well. Actually I didn't even get my pain meds filled because Tylenol was doing the trick. I took Tylenol PM at night and that really helped a lot with staying asleep and the pain. After 3 nights the pain was gone. Each day/night got better and I was off even the Tylenol by a week after surgery. You'll be ok in your bed. good luck!

amysmara got a reaction from tholbert08 in Cruise booked....now what?
Take the cruise!!! I had bypass 6 weeks ago and I'm good now! Full of energy. I know my limits and what I can an can't eat. I know cruise are all about the eating so it will be an adjustment! But like everything else, you will find other ways to enjoy yourself. I love cruises iv been on a lot. I just talked to my friend today about booking one for next year. I know I will ever eat what I use to, but now I'm going to and really enjoy myself in other ways instead of always focusing it around food! Good luck and have fun

amysmara got a reaction from msmreed47 in Can I ever have coffee again?
Ok I like everyone's advice.. And of course every doctor has their own set of rules but at 3 weeks post op I used my chocolate premier Protein as my Creamer and I used TRUVIA instead of sugar. Having this cup of coffee in the morning is the best part of my day because I'm getting in some of my Protein and I still get to enjoy mornings with a cup of joe.. The reason why they don't want you to have a coffee is because of the caffeine pulls liquid out of your body and some people have a hard enough time getting the amount of liquid that were supposed to in our bodies. If you are hitting what you are suppose to with your Water and protein then a cup of coffee isn't going to hurt you at all.

amysmara got a reaction from Avettgirl in Not losing
Listen...you aren't doing anything wrong. My daughter is a clinical exercise physiologist and I went a week without losing anything and I was sad and she said "mommmmmmy listen to me!! Your body is in starvation mode and what that means is your body is hanging on to every single fat cell you have.. Don't get sad just think about it as if your body is catching up to what's going on." So, I listened to her and the next week I started loosing again.. So plz don't get mad or frustrated and don't give up!!!

Ok can I give both of you some advice plz, I am 2 wks post surgery. My surgery went well and I didn't have any complications but a few days after I got home I had a melt down, because I had to find things to do instead of eating and when having to do that I realized how much time out of my day I actually took to eat, snack and pick. So what i have been doing is walking every time I use to eat so plz come up with a plan for when you are missing food and even the taste of food, I miss flavor so much but Iv lost 20pds in two weeks and it's been worth it. So remember what I'm saying plz because I wish I would have had this advice. good luck to all of you

I'll be a week post tomorrow and I was told from my doctor that I'm to be on a clear liquid diet for a month so I don't know how I have read that people are allowed to eat yogurt and other things, I would love alittle yogurt but they said no:/

I had my surgery on the 16th. I've been taking short walks... my doctor used the 4,5,6... walk 4-5 times for 6 minutes each time.
I have had that shooting pain on my left side too.
Last night I took a Gasx, and in the middle of the night I 'released' plenty of that gas HAHAHA...it actually woke me up, and I was impressed with the amount that 'left'
I keep trying to concentrate on the fact that I am able to hold liquids down, drink my little 4oz Protein shakes, and haven't opened the bottle for nausea. I figure the pain in my stomach, mostly on my left side, will heal.
    Hang in there!
