  1. Hello everyone. I had my surgery 3.5 months ago. I woke up this morning with a horrible sore throat and bad cold. I have no idea what to take for this. I know our stomachs don't absorb Vitamins and medication like they used to. So what are we allowed to take? I'll be working around cancer patients on Tuesday so I need to be completely better. Thanks so much Amy Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  3. Thank you everyone. Does anyone know how much our immune system is compromised from having this surgery? I know before the surgery I rarely got sick especially like this:/ my legs are even weak:/ I'm hoping it's not something more serious. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  5. I'm about 3 mos post surgery. I was doing really good with all foods. It was almost like I didn't have the surgery. Of course my portions are wayyyyy smaller but nothing was really bothering me. But, these last couple weeks Iv thrown a lot up, things I was having no trouble with now make me sick sometimes I have pain and sometimes I'm just nauseated to the point where I throw up. I don't get it. Has this happened to any of you? Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Wk 4 - only 3 pds down. What happened?

Yes it's completely normal to have a stall, your body is hanging on to every single fat cell because your body is in starvation mode right now so when your body catches up to the surgery then you will start losing weight again. Don't worry it's completely normal and will happen a couple of times Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Eating 9 days post op

I went to a restaurant this last week with my family and I explained to the waitress that I had a surgery and would she mind bringing two plate so I could share my daughters salad, I could only fit in about 3 bites but I'm 6 weeks post surgery at 9 days post surgery I could of never eatin anything like I did, I was still on Clear Liquids too. Some restaurants if you ask they will purée their soup for you. But you won't be able to eat more then 3 TBS so be prepared to take some home Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  11. Ok here is my advice, I am 6 weeks post surgery:) Don't take this to harshly ok.. It's the advice you need I can't believe what you are eating, creamed soups are the worst, for your diet and for your system. Retired Beans, not good either:/ 10 days out you should still be on clear liquids. Jello, chicken broth, popsicles. Try not to put in any empty calories, like pudding even tho it's sugar free your body doesn't need it. If you want something like that blend up a banana but not until you are on soft foods. Stick with the clear liquids, until your body catches up to the surgery. As far as not pooping that much, that's completely normal. I had the same thing happen to me, don't eat things to make yourself go it will come out when it's good and ready. The gas you have is I'm guessing still from surgery, they blow your stomach up with gas so they came preform the surgery better. It takes a while for it to all come out. Drink things slowwwww and you'll find yourself having less gas. Sip sip sip..also try premium Protein it comes in vanilla chocolate and strawberry, it's awesome. I use the vanilla in my coffee instead of coffee cream, I'm killing two birds with one stone because I'm getting my protein and liquid in when I do that. 20 pds is awesome! But on week 3 you will have a stall. Don't get upset it's just your body is holding on to every single fat cells because it's still confused on what's going on..you'll start loosing again on week 4..hope this helps good luck:) Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    How did you sleep?

I slept in my own bed as well. Actually I didn't even get my pain meds filled because Tylenol was doing the trick. I took Tylenol PM at night and that really helped a lot with staying asleep and the pain. After 3 nights the pain was gone. Each day/night got better and I was off even the Tylenol by a week after surgery. You'll be ok in your bed. good luck! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Help me!

Have you tried primer Protein, it's actually pretty good. Don't advance yourself until your doctor says so, stick with Water until you are seen by your doctor. That's what my Exercise Physiologist told me. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Cruise booked....now what?

Take the cruise!!! I had bypass 6 weeks ago and I'm good now! Full of energy. I know my limits and what I can an can't eat. I know cruise are all about the eating so it will be an adjustment! But like everything else, you will find other ways to enjoy yourself. I love cruises iv been on a lot. I just talked to my friend today about booking one for next year. I know I will ever eat what I use to, but now I'm going to and really enjoy myself in other ways instead of always focusing it around food! Good luck and have fun Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

  18. Well I had my family over today for a cookout, now keep in mind I'm one month post op. So I know my limits of what I can have and what I can't have and how much. I know the feeling in my stomach when enough is enough. So I sat down with my grilled soft veggies and linguine salad. I had a total of about 3TBS on my plate. I was about 1/2 way done eating (1.5 TBS) and everyone said "oh you are done", "that's enough Amy", "how much are you gonna eat Amy"? pretty soon my husband just took my plate away. My feelings were hurt because it's not like I sat down with a plate full. I did all the cooking for the picnic ( except for what people brought), I did all the grilling. Like is this the way it's always going to be, I wanted to just go lay in bed and watch tv.. I didn't really even enjoy myself because everyone was watching me like a hawk:/ Iv lost 26 pds in one month. I'm just sad that I thought this social gathering would of been more fun. No more picnics for me! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    Not losing

Listen...you aren't doing anything wrong. My daughter is a clinical exercise physiologist and I went a week without losing anything and I was sad and she said "mommmmmmy listen to me!! Your body is in starvation mode and what that means is your body is hanging on to every single fat cell you have.. Don't get sad just think about it as if your body is catching up to what's going on." So, I listened to her and the next week I started loosing again.. So plz don't get mad or frustrated and don't give up!!! Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  23. Ok I like everyone's advice.. And of course every doctor has their own set of rules but at 3 weeks post op I used my chocolate premier Protein as my creamer and I used TRUVIA instead of sugar. Having this cup of coffee in the morning is the best part of my day because I'm getting in some of my protein and I still get to enjoy mornings with a cup of joe.. The reason why they don't want you to have a coffee is because of the caffeine pulls liquid out of your body and some people have a hard enough time getting the amount of liquid that were supposed to in our bodies. If you are hitting what you are suppose to with your Water and protein then a cup of coffee isn't going to hurt you at all. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
